Bowleys is far from your average countryside pub restaurant. Tucked along a quiet lane in a quintessential English village, The Plough was once destined to be sold to developers — until 120 members of the community came together to invest in and save their local. Following its restoration, the Yates family took over the kitchen and launched Bowleys, transforming the intimate 26-cover space into an award-winning, Michelin Guide-recognised restaurant and 360 Guide Top 20 Restaurant in the UK.
Led by Head Chef Alex Yates and General Manager Grace Yates, Bowleys champions local, sustainable dining rooted in seasonality and provenance. Just 300 metres away lies The Nursery, their own kitchen garden supplying daily-picked vegetables, herbs and edible flowers — the heart of its field-to-fork ethos. Alex’s Michelin training at The Goring Hotel and Grace’s warm hospitality define its refined yet welcoming experience.

Bar Ingo is the third project from the father and son duo, Tomas & Rio, together they have created a comfortable, cosy and casual restaurant with a mix of regular table seating as well as kitchen counter seats where you are close to the action. Swing by for a glass of wine or stay and enjoy the whole menu!
We are located on the beautiful corner of 9 York Street and together with our amazing neighbours we are creating an amazing restaurant, cafe & retail destination here in Broadstairs.

   World War I poet Siegfried Sassoon lived in Matfield and is the inspiration behind the name. Sassoon was awarded the Military Cross, and later won acclaim for his writing. We're pretty sure he would have loved our food too!

   Due to space and storage constraints, we do not cater for the vegan diet. We also don't accept cash, nor do we accept 'outside' food such as birthday cakes.

   The Michelin Starred, Fordwich Arms, located in the smallest town in England, dates as far back as 1828.    The first evidence of an inn at the site dates back to 1642 but the surrounding area of Seasalter was entered in the Domesday Book as belonging to the kitchens of Canterbury Cathedral. Even then it was an area of food production, farmed by the monks, supplying produce for the influx of religious tourists after the murder of Thomas Beckett in 1170.
   We took over The Sportsman in November 1999 with the intention of serving good food in relaxed and informal surroundings. We have held a Michelin star since 2008.
   Following the monks’ example we let the area around the pub dictate what we cook. Behind us, the Thames Estuary, leading out to the North Sea, provides oysters and fish, and in front, marshland, woods and fertile soils give us meat, vegetables and game. We also grow some ingredients ourselves. A small kitchen garden and now polytunnels, mean we can cook with fruit and vegetables that benefit from being picked only moments before use.

   Dining in our Restaurant
   The Corner House Canterbury is an independently owned restaurant situated on the outskirts of Canterbury city walls, serving British produce, locally sourced.
   The restaurant opened in July 2016 and is a one of Canterbury’s most popular venues to visit. The 16th Century former coach house, overlooks the city walls and its beautiful refurbishment retains lots of its original character.
   Our main restaurant seats up to 40 guests where you can watch our chefs at work in our open kitchen. We have recently opened our second dining room which looks out onto our beautiful garden, ideal for large gathering and available for private dining which seats up to 26 guests.
   With 5 beautiful and characterful en suite guest rooms, it is the perfect place to stay when visiting Canterbury. Just a minute’s walk from Holman’s Meadow car park and a short walk from Canterbury East train station and the city’s the main bus station, it is so easily accessible for your visit.
