A very warm welcome from Paul, Denise and the team at The Fox Inn, an 18th Century pub / inn set in the peaceful village of Matching Tye in the beautiful Essex countryside.The Fox Inn offers relaxed dining for up to 82 people in the modernised bar and restaurant area, and we are pleased to offer a 40 seat function room ideal for parties, private gatherings and meetings.We are open 6 days a week, Tuesday’s through to Sunday, being closed on Mondays.We serve excellent, freshly cooked food from either our bar, restaurant or Sunday lunch menus. We have also a tasty kids meu available.We are also pleased to offer accommodation to the rear of The Fox Inn if you are looking for a quiet country getaway. For many years, William had wanted to open his own restaurant & finally he has. "The Cart Shed".Showcasing the best of local and seasonal food, much of which will have been produced on the family farm, but we aim not to travel more than 10 miles for any of our ingredients (except for the odd exotic like lemons for your G&T).We have rejuvenated the horticultural side of the farm. Along with poultry, quail and squab pigeons the farm is providing much of the food served in the restaurant.William & his friends will also be out with their guns & fishing rods to provide a little wild meat for the table such as venison, partridge, trout not to mention the humble wood pigeon and rabbit.After a couple of years of interruption caused by COVID & life things are now back to normal with a new team & a newly refurbished restaurant.We look forward to seeing you all soon.

    We had a great time celebrating my husbands birthday. They accommodated my fussy vegetarian 9 year olds request for pasta with marina sauce. Great food and cocktails. Lovely vibes. And they went all out for celebrating my husbands birthday at dessert time. We did not expect a song, sparklers and a confetti canon!!! 😂 Will definitely be back Thanks Feli for the great service

    The 2 tomahawk steaks we had were cooked to perfection. We had 1 medium well and the other Rare . My mums 89 th birthday meal Denise , Paul really looked after us. Many thanks for a great meal and making my Mums birthday .

    It was an amazing experience. A super limited menu, which shows everything is made fresh and knowing everything is produced, forged or locally sourced. The service was very fun and looked after, without being over bearing. The food was generous and so delicious! A must visit and I'm looking forward to returning!
