Excellent tasty vegetarian food. Nice service. Need to supply slimline tonic. Would visit again.
It was a lovely evening and the food was just amazing
We booked with open table. When we arrived, the Restaurant seemed unaware of our reservation. They put us at a table in the back, which was stuffy and not well lit. The food was good, with a good selection of vegetarian dishes but the service very slow and inattentive. I suggest going to the other Woodlands branches in London.
I was not impressed with service for a Friday. I guess this was a busy nigjt. They got starter wrong, wine wrong and mixed salad was slices of thick cut onion, tomatoes and cucumber. No actual salad.
However they do good masala dosa but i am unable tp eat these things now.
Slightly small portions. Could work on the presentation. Overall good though
Great food. Visited for a post theatre supper with a friend. The food was really excellent. The service was friendly but we felt a bit rushed - although the restaurant was not full we were checked up on too many times which prompted us to leave earlier than we would normally. I would go back again with vegetarian friends as the food was good.
Food was not outstanding. Tandoori roti and garlic naan did not seem to be freshly cooked but rather heated frozen food.
Ambience - the manager kept speaking loudly on the phone all throughout. This disturbed the ambience completely as we were the only couple having dinner in that restaurant area
Service - we asked twice for the bill to no avail. We had to actually walk down to request for the bill when the manager says - he didn’t know we had asked for the bill. This just shows lack of attention to the customers.
Value - the food portions were quite small for the rates. That combined with okayish food quality, and above ambience and level of service - value did not seem quite good.
It’s absolute trash in the name of Indian (South Indian) food. This is no where close to
Ordered a South Indian thali. Came with dosa, idly and some veggies and sambar. The dosa batter is wrong! Idly was cold. There was only one chutney as accompaniment. The okra curry clearly had preservatives and seems to be an actual frozen dish that’s heated up and served. Sambar is definitely not South Indian. Clearly the chef is a North Indian or not even that. Terrible quality of food. Please look for alternatives. For >£25, this is absolutely disappointing and bad.
Food was okay. Dosa was starter size when we ordered normal. They could have done a lot more with the food which is annoying as we were craving yummy Indian food! It’s fine for a quick lunch if you are not a proper foodie.
For us the Woodlands is a go-to restaurant when we are in London. We are not vegetarian but it is a very good Indian restaurant, vegetarian or not. The food is very tasty without being stupidly hot, the choice on the menu is good, the staff are pleasant and the service is quick. Let's hope it always maintains its high standard!
Excellent service, friendly with a very nice food selection.
Poor look and poor cleanness
I've been wanting to try a good vegetarian Indian restaurant for a while now and this one certainly didn't disappoint. There were two of us and we decided to have one each of two Thalis on the menu to share. We both like spicy food and we very much enjoyed the taste and variety. The restaurant clearly aims for taste rather than heat, and I think they have this spot on. If you're a non-vegetarian then don't let this put you off - my friend eats meat and she enjoyed the food as much as myself.
It was mid-week and so the restaurant was only half full, but the service was polite, attentive and efficient. There was background music, Indian, but certainly not intrusive.
We were recommended to come here but weren't as impressed as our friends had been. The food was great but the restaurant seemed a bit lacking in atmosphere although to be fair we were eating early and it wasn't very busy.
One of the worst and unusual experiences. Two of the dishes served to us had 'human hair' in it.
The men's toilet was being used by the staff to smoke. The toilets smelled badly of cigarette smoke, given that it is a non smoking restaurant.
The hygiene level of the restaurant is questionable.
There were four youngsters next to us who were regulars to the place. They were unreasonably loud and the worst part was they were swearing and using foul language too often. We were two families with 3 kids with us. even after requesting them through the staff it continued.
I would not recommend the place to families or people with kids.
Authentic Indian food.
Nice staff, great service. Went with family, everyone enjoyed food. Very good value. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic South Indian cuisine, great menu, everything was exactly what we wanted, this place has been going for years and it never disappoints. We took some friends who had not experienced it before and they have some new fans.,
This is our favorite place to eat when we visit London. One of the top vegetarian restaurants in the city - for good reason! And it's not your "everyday Indian fare" either. There are some dishes here that I usually only get when I travel to India. Hugh recommendations for their Dosa and Uttapam.
I took my partner for a birthday lunch and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was nice and I would recommend to a friend however it was extremely cold and that ruined the experience for me. With that said my partner asked if the heating could be turned up and they happily did but I could not feel the difference.
Fantastic variety of vegan food and amazing flavours. Recommended for all, not just vegans!
Good food and good price. Manager was very helpful and done his very best to cater for your needs
Great food every time! They have many vegan options which is perfect.
The food was excellent, my date was impressed. Unfortunately it was a very cold evening and the door did not shut itself properly, so every time somebody entered or exited there were unpleasant cold draughts until a member of staff shut the door (or I got up to shut it myself). In fair weather I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Atmosphere/ambience pretty plain and simple especially given the Marylebone location. However, great food and attentive service
Good Indian vegetarian food in pleasant surroundings
The food was incredible. I had the mushroom Dosa and it was amazing. I will be back soon to sample the rest of the menu, it all looked fantastic! (Plus the organic wine selection is a big plus!)
My favorite vegan friendly Restaurant for Dosas. I often go with my team when visiting London
Very satisfying vegetarian Indian restaurant. Good service and simple but comfortable decor. We ate well for about 25 pounds per person for the food.
On a whole great tasting food! We ordered a range of things to try. The dosas and street snacks were delicious, the tandoori platter was good but could have done with a bit more oomphf. The aubergine curry was average, but the dhal was superb. Very friendly staff. The restaurant was quite busy with Christmas parties but we didn't have to wait too long for anything. There was a mix up with the bill at the end which was swiftly rectified. Overall great service, would highly recommend !
Excellent authentic food, and excellent service. Would recommend a visit.
Normal diner. Excellent food
Able to accommodate both the gluten free and vegetarian requirements of our group. Good food and acceptable service.
Went with friends for a post-Diwali Dinner. Lovely setting and atmosphere.
Staff were friendly and inviting, felt like a valued customer. Didn't rush our party of six,
Very tasy food, menu had lots if choices and they cater for Vegans too....WIN WIN Situation.
Very casual Veggie Indian. Lovely to have a menu with dishes you don’t see in typical British/Indian Restaurants. Food was great! Bit slow to come and speak to us after we sat down but after that service was ok. We’ll definitely go back but will be careful not to over order - the dishes were bigger than we expected
Not bad at all, but not great. A legacy restaurant that perhaps rests on its laurels a bit. Superb vegetarian selection but not that much for vegans. Saag a bit bland, and the dosas were good but not unusually special. I wouldn't go back, but it's not a bad choice
Wonderful, wonderful food. I love the menu here - the only problem is deciding what to eat. I have been to India on many occasions, love Indian food and cook it myself and I swear that Woodlands in Marylebone served up the best paratha I have ever eaten! It was just perfect. Very calm relaxed atmosphere. Service is genuine and efficient. Woodlands is my favourite vegetarian Indian restaurant in London. I also frequent the branch near Picadilly which is equally wonderful.
We were hoping that the service would be a great deal better than it was. We were greeted by a very pleasant woman and the ambiance was OK. However, out waiter was surly and unhelpful.
We were also overlooked inspite of it being a near empty restaurant. When we left the waiter was smoking a cigarette outside the door and we ciuld barely pass. I might add he did not say goodbye and thank you for coming!
Everything was perfect, very authentic idli, vada, sambar and coconut chutney (made vegan!) and the mini uthappam mixture was interesting. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Really lovely meal - the waitress's recommendations (her favourite dosas and the baby aubergine and peanut dish) were excellent. I also liked the dal makhani, so creamy and tasty!
Myself and my friend had lunch at Woodlands recently. We were very disappointed to say the least. The food was very bland and my main dish was terrible and tasted like it had come out of a tin
The menu looked amazing which was why we booked Woodlands as we are both vegetarian but the food did not live up to our expectations and we would not return there
