The food was great. Service was slow. This was the second time coming. The first time they took for ever. Same thing happen again took a long time to get our drinks and our food

The staff needs to be a little more attentive to the customers needs show themselves more at the tables they need to be a little more friendly

I keep giving this place a chance and I keep on getting disappointed, we were met with a host who displayed zero hospitality. She was more interested in displaying her armpits with her sleeveless top. She took one look at me and my son turned around and tried to sit us outside after watching her seat every person inside. Although, if there were no seats inside, I’d understand...but there were plenty. I realize after coming here a few times, they definitely treat us different as a person of color and display a strong sense of discrimination. The food is great but not so thrilled with how they treat you...if you’re a person of color, I hope you don’t get greeted by armpit girl!!!

Made a reservation for 9 pm and showed up 10 minutes late to hear kitchen closed at 9. Management should stop taking reservations at 830 if they close at 9

The reception was off putting with management seemingly more concerned with gossiping with each other, rather than attending to us getting a table, despite our reservation (a recurrent problem in King's also owned by Water Grill) but once seated, the service was superb, our waiter was engaging, diligent and fun, and all in all, a very pleasant evening. If they could only get the front desk on track.

It was highly recommended to us. Unfortunately the Sea bass was very fishy and overcooked. It could not have been fresh. We would have sent it back but my husband was feeling the affects of his second Moderna vaccine shot and just wanted to go back to the hotel and crawl into bed. At a seafood restaurant, you should not need to ask if it is fresh today. Sad.

Great scallops

I was seated as soon as I arrived for my reservation. This restaurant was beautifully romantic. My husband and I had an oyster appetizer that was truly delicious along with the seafood nachos that were so fresh and hit my palate beautifully. On to the entrees. I ordered the cioppino so yummy.. My husband had the lobster roll which he enjoyed. My cocktail was the 6th and J also yummy. I will be back when in town again.

Celebrated my birthday here and service was great. Food was also very delicious. Crab cake and shrimp scampi terrific! Even brought out a special dessert for my birthday.

Great concept but lacking in sense of urgency and quality in general.

Chowder was bland. Not creamy or rich at all. Lacking flavor, texture was off. Chorizo Clam could have had more sauce. Al food was a warm not hot. Wonderful service though! Pricing doesn’t match outside seating accommodations.

Had dinner here and I would recommend them. The food was so delicious and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Ordered the oyster sampler which was fun to experience along with Halibut and Shrimp Louie salad. We enjoyed the outdoor dining option and had some nice sun as it set. Definitely very busy in the area since the Padres were playing.

Quality ingredients, consistent preparation with some innovative culinary efforts without overdoing it, a very nice ambiance and very good service, it has become our go to for fresh seafood when we’re in the Gaslamp or East Village.

Bday dinner

Food was delicious, service was was great, ambience was relaxing yet fun. It was an overall wonderful experience. My husband loved his birthday celebration there.

Our server was great. The food was excellent. I liked the feel of the place. We had a booth inside and were able to talk with friends we haven’t seen for a while. Everyone in the room seemed to be having a good time.

It was very good - great to be out - and their COVID protocols are excellent. We're just very familiar with Water Grill Los Angeles, and surprisingly the quality of this San Diego restaurant's fish is just not quite AS good.

Our server Bob was fantastic. Cocktails were amazing and food was excellent. Best experience we’ve had dining out since precovid.

This was my 2nd visit to Watergrill and again, I was so satisfied with the service, the food, the ambiance, EVERYTHING! Our server, Donna, was attentive, polite and just on top of everything! We even recieved a free bread pudding because one the servers knocked over the candle on our table and a little bit of wax spilled out. You can absolutely tell that the customer service model is taken seriously. As a consumer, I appreciate that. This is my go-to Seafood restaurant! Thank you!!!

All around a fantastic place to dine. From start to finish our entire dining experience was exceptional. The customer service and attentiveness we received was fun, casual; it felt like we were dining with family. Krista our server took great care of us. She helped us with our food choices and made some great recommendation. If you like fish, try the dover sole.

Keep in mind we are just past covid restrictions. The staff was exceptional. Amazing atmosphere for indoor dining. I’m a sucker for Cioppino, if it’s on the menu I order it. The fish and crab was over cooked but not too extreme but mine tastes better. My girlfriend thought her scampi was average. Our guests loved the sushi and we all loved the apps, poke and calamari. Oysters are also 5 star. I will go back. I’m sure reopening requires focus. It’s deserves another visit for any foodie.
