My pasta was so salty that I couldn’t eat it. The waitress was very nice and took it off the bill and gave us a dessert on the house. It was a Monday night so maybe the regular chef was off. The restaurant is very nice inside.
Service was excellent and loved the ambience. Also, really enjoyed the apps and dessert, but the main dishes (Estrella and Cioppino) were a little disappointing, b/c they over salted. And, that’s saying something, b/c I love my salt. Both my husband and I felt this way.
I really wanted to love this place because the location is great and the service is also excellent. I had Saturday brunch and it was just alright. The donuts were a little dry and the eggs and sausage with roasted potatoes were decent, but I felt like I paid a lot of money for an only decent meal. Again, I was seated quickly and the ambiance was nice, the location was nice and the staff was great.
The food was great and there is plenty of space for your group to sit (I thought the tables were pretty spread out for nyc). Our waiter was very slow and didn’t acknowledge that he didn’t bring our drinks after 20 mins of ordering them. He wasn’t too attentive. The food was good but honestly didn’t enjoy the service.
Service was slow . Our waitress was not engaged no personality . The food was mediocre will not recommend this restaurant
The food is excellent and the service was great i have already recommended upland to many people
Amazing food and service!
Very overpriced and not great choices for dinner
Maybe add hamburgers and less expensive choices for dinner
Upland is a fabulous restaurant: great ambience, exceptional food, attentive service. What more can I say? It is well worth the trip and the hefty price tag.
Since last night Upland is one of our favorite places in NY. Food and drinks are amazing, but also decoration and atmosphere is unique and gorgeous. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for our friendly server, Guerino. He was not only welcoming and always available for us, but also a warm and super host, he definitely made our evening a special occasion. We would absolutely recommend this place and really hope to come back soon.
Superb food. They had a wood ear mushroom dish that was unbelievable. The pastas are amazing. The whole branzino for two was extraordinary ($72). Not cheap but not terrible. You have to be something of a lip reader, however, as the noise level is something else.
So delighted to find this little gem! Very cool and relaxed, food amazing and service also! Cheers!
Never had anything less than an outstanding meal and experience at Upland.
Consistently a good spot with a unique menu. Wine list is solid with a good selection at all price points. My problem here is every time I visit, the front staff is rude and unfriendly. When you give them your name and reservation, they act as though you are interrupting their day and they are trying to figure out what to do with you. They need some better social skills. Once you get to your table, things settle in and the meal goes well and everything is delicious.
Food was amazing, mimosas were amazing although i dont really drink so i was buzzed by the 3rd sip lol Warm atmosphere only thing numerous bathrooms downstairs,if you have older company there is only one bathroom on the floor level.
Amazing dinner! Romantic and beautiful atmosphere. Truly a 10/10.
Came here for our anniversary and we're seated at one of the best booths in the restaurant. It's clear Upland values their customers. We had great and attentive service from our waitress and the sommelier. The bartender also made it easy to get drinks and move them to our table later on. Wonderful experience overall and definitely will be going back!
Great environment, trendy style, good food, excellent service but....a LOT of noise! So if you don't mind the noise ( not unusual in NYC) then go to this place!! Enjoy everything! It is great!
Very cute restaurant. Great location, nice food. Love the decoration
Couldn't hear my partner or my waitress. We had dinner at 6 PM. Never again
The duck wings.. the branzino to share.. are phenomenal. This place is so consistently good it's ridiculous.
Overall: overhyped but still a good spot. No rush to come back.
Food: the food was good, not great. Some dishes, particularly the appetizers, were incredible. I loved the whole mushroom and the duck wings got good reviews. The bread was also excellent. The beef tartare was ok (but weirdly brought out later than the other two apps.) The main dishes were ok. I had the cacio e pepe which was good, not as large of a serving as I expected. The other members of my party had the lamb shoulder and the duck, which they said were good but not amazing. For dessert we got the basket of cookies (again, good!) and tea (served in an adorable glass teapot)
Drinks: I was the first of my party to arrive and instead of sitting us me, I had to wait at the bar for everyone else to come. Ok, fine. So I order a drink, the Dog Days, from the bartender who is a bit grumpy. Two more of my party arrive and they still won’t sit us. So one orders a drink and the bartender kind of rolls his eyes at his order. He ordered a whiskey sour... not sure why he needed to get attitude for that but fine. Finally we are seated when the last guest arrives. The sommelier was great and helped me pick out a wine I enjoyed, but the interaction with the bartender started the night off on the wrong foot and left a sour taste in my mouth.
Service: our server was great, but it was sometimes hard to flag her down.
Ambiance: love the space and location. Super cool, low-key elegance.
Amazing meal. Reminded me of my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area - farm to table in the most delicious form!
My Bolognese tasted like balsamic vinegar and
Overall, excellent food though salad dressing was too acidic and pasta portion quite small. Pizza nothing special. Best Cacio and Pepe outside of Rome.
First time coming to Upland after trying to get my boyfriend and myself a reservation here for the last year or two. Atmosphere was chic but casual, dare I say a bit of a “hipster” vibe. Metal piping, understated light fixtures and casual waitstaff in jeans and checkered aprons. Comfortable, cozy place. Service was attentive and friendly, though I agree with other reviews that it is quite a noisy room due to the open, wooden design. We were excited to come here for the lunch menu since it’s a weekday, had our heart set on certain items and when we arrived we discovered they were actually serving the brunch menu instead, due to the Labor Day holiday. I kind of wish that had been more clearly disclosed somewhere on their website, as I would have waited to come back to Upland on a non-brunch day. My boyfriend and I are both chefs so we are often picky about brunch: it’s creativity, value etc. the food we received was tasty, but didn’t blow us away. $24 for a burger, I would expect it to be the best burger of my life. While it was very tasty and cooked properly, it didn’t knock me off my chair as anything special. I ordered the California B.E.C sandwich, which to my surprise was cold when I took my first bite. Perhaps because of the avocado on top the dish cooled down or is not intended to be served too warm, but I found that odd for a sandwich including bacon, Romano cheese spread and buttery Texas-style brioche toast. Though, it was very tasty. We ordered a slice of the chocolate mousse cake and coffees for dessert. The cake was very satisfying, though again nothing super creative about it. The coffee was very good. Overall I think we would consider coming back to try a regular lunch menu or dinner menu someday, but may be a while, since we were a little turned off by spending over $80 for a lunch that didn’t even include the items we hoped to come to Upland to try in the first place.
We had a great time for brunch at Upland. Our server Guerino did a great job! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a friend group. Have been several times and the service has been awesome each time.
Upland strikes all the right notes, from food to service, with a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Freely recommended.
Overall our experience was very good.
The staff were terrific, just the right level of friendliness.
The ambience is always great.
The food was good. I was a little disappointed in the salmon entree. The salmon itself was perfect but the farro salad was a bit bland and not very cohesive. The clam spaghetti was really delicious and my husband loved the duck wings. While eating his lamb however, he got a mouthful of gelatinous fat, and had to excuse himself to go spit it out in the restroom and that put an end to his meal.
Cocktails were very good too.
The food is great! The restaurant is spacious and I like the ambulance
Upland serves the best burgers in town. It is always a pleasure to join upland
Great ambiance...fun vibe...delicious food! Perfect for Brunch!
Great for Sunday Brunch. Nice menu, tasty food (if a bit pricey), very good and friendly wait staff. Very nice ambiance.
Upland was a great place. Even cooler was it fed two former presidents Obama and Clinton. Went for brunch. The server was very knowledgeable and suggested trying something a little unconventional off their menu and was it ever worth it. Tried the fish cake with an over easy egg on top served w a salad. It stole the show and was the highlighted meal at the table amongst many. Donuts were warm when they arrived at the table and the price point was neither a wallet buster or unreasonable at the atmosphere was welcoming and sophisticated. Worth the travel to have a bite there.
The food was SOOOO salty...inedible
Was very disappointing.
Reliably awesome menu with classic wins (get the mushroom!) and new additions all the time. Strong waitstaff who make you feel at home and know how to course a meal. Fresh, amazing ingredients and a stellar wine list.
Great service, great space, and great food! Server was very friendly and the space was very comfortable to dine in and to have a conversation where you can hear one another.
Made a reservation and was seated in the bar area, ouch. Besides I thought it was expensive for what it is.
Unimpressed. Limited menu. Salad was way overdressed. Inedible.
