We always enjoy eating at Uncle Julio’s restaurants. Their signature “Swirls” are great and the food is always solid. This time, however, the rice served with the enchiladas was cold and lumpy, as if it had been prepared in advance, refrigerated and not properly or thoroughly warmed prior to serving. The cheese on the enchiladas was somewhat firm and also cool. I think there was a food prep,issue this time. We’ll be back, though.

Beef fajitas are amazing but the signature item is the chocolate pinata. The service was a little slow, like getting drinks and menus, but we were a large party and kept ourselves entertained so it was okay. Our server was a little standoffish at first but warmed up as the meal progressed. I would recommend to friends but only for the novelty of the chocolate pinata.

In town for a company function. Brought 8 people to Uncle Julio's. Service was very good from the time we entered the front door, to the bar service prior to dinner and throughout the dinner itself. The food was very good and the recommendations from our server were spot on. We were seated promptly and encouraged to stay as long as we wanted. The location was perfect for our group as well. Just a short walk from the hotels.

The restaurant was almost empty and it took nearly ten minutes for our server to come to our table. My husband and I got two different dishes and shared them. I couldn’t eat either. It was the worst Mexican food I’ve had.

Uncle Julios was a must to celebrate a birthday because of the chocolate piñata! The rest of the food and drinks were just as delicious and our waitress was very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. But the piñata made the birthday celebration!

Jefe margarita was great. Fajitas were good. Their frozen margarita was terrible. It tasted of chemicals, to which I can only compare the taste to a machine that had never been flushed after being cleaned. Our server was great, however her fellow strawberry haired male counterpart was less impressive. He stole her tray stand from beside our table, while she was in the process of clearing our table, so that he could serve his table, and didn’t seem to care when she approached him about it. Very unprofessional. Despite all of this, we never heard one word from the manager Overall, very disappointed

Was a little leery about a chain restaurant but was completely surprised!! Food was top notch as well as service! Can’t wait to visit this restaurant again with more people to try the chocolate piñata!! Do not skip the strawberry margaritas because they were amazing and the honey chipotle chicken fajitas with bacon!

Was a wonderful evening. Was celebrating 2 birthdays. We had the chocolate pinata for dessert. It was wonderful. All of the food was great,no complaints or disappointments. The only thing that was a little difficult was the parking issue. Had to park on Congress and 3rd in a lot. No real biggie. Would totally recommend to friends and family to go..

If you have enjoyed the Uncle Julio"s in Ft Worth or Dallas you will be disappointed in the Austin location. It is still good but doesn't compare to the first 2 or 3 in Dallas /Ft Worth. In a city [Austin] that has had the BEST Mexican food anywhere until recently Uncle Julio's is ok

All they want to do is serve you as soon as possible and move on to something else. Server barely showed face again after food arrived. Ambiance for a Thursday evening was dead and the a/c is such that you wish you had a down coat. Old and tired place. Boring too.
