This is my second visit to the Smith and was not disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious!!! A definite "return" place for me!!!
The Smith is always consistent and tasty! The Lincoln square location is my personal favorite, I like sitting outside. The food is always on point. Great choice for any occasion.
My wife and I love, love, love the food, but man, the noise is getting out of hand. DON'T let them seat you in the back.
The food and service were very good. I love that Open Table uses Energetic for Noise Level. I just call it LOUD. It was very difficult to hear the people at my table. I write this because some people might find it a problem. In my case we will just learn sign language because the food is so good.
I love this place for the good and ambience.its never a disappointment.
Again, great place to eat if you’re staying at The Empire! Food was fab especially the mac-n-cheese starter.....but it definitely feeds 2 😃
Awesome! Good staff and vibes
There is nooption above that I chose. It’s convenient to my home.
The food was generally good, flavorful and plentiful. They have an odd way or serving bread - a person comes around and offers little white bags but doesn't say it is bread. Later when we asked for some we got two little packages for the three of us. The noise is close to unbearable and speakers pump a bass beat into the room. Definitely for the young who are not yet hearing impaired.
The Smith is a go to spot for Lincoln Center. Food good, but very loud inside. We try to always sit outside. Definitely worth a try!
Food was very mediocre. My mother had the lobster roll. Little lobster, overcooked. She asked for it with salad which was just piled high almost on top of the little lobster roll. I had the pasta with eggplant. It was good - but nothing remarkable at all. The noise was unbearable. We were screaming at each other across the table. Oh and for dessert we had the smores. Way too sweet and too much marshmallow. Not recommended. Our server was wonderful though.
Great food, great service but very very loud.
I guess bad acoustics.
Our lunch was fresh and delicious. Service with a Smile
I like the restaurant a lot, but the noise level is too much........
The food is good but the noise is pretty intolerable.
My cocktail was not great, I had to ask for a slice of orange which is considered part of the drink recipe- disappointing when you consider they charged me $16.00
It’s just ordinary and expensive
The waitress told me they don’t give out the orange slices with the drinks because people just waste them!!!
Vivian Beaumont pre-theater dining. Delicious! Flatbread, burata, short rib bolognese - all great. Service a bit non-existent - blame it on a bad waiter but ... a good place to have a quick bite!
The avocado toast with poached eggs is the best in the city
People being piled up at the entrance door is just unacceptable when you arrive on time for your reservation, and that your table is ready. They would only sit you once all your group of friends arrive. Ridiculous!!
Once everyone is there the table is no longer available!!!!
Great food, friendly service, attentive service, clean, nice bathrooms, I have lived in/near New York my whole life and have never eaten here before, because I thought it was touristy, but now that I have eaten here I will definitely come back. It was really nice.
Came here for brunch before My Fair Lady. The food was very good, service could have been a bit quicker in the beginning but she made up for it after the initial 15 minutes. The noise level however is somewhat overpowering. So much so that you were happy to get back out in the rain and on the street as it was much quieter. Had the El Toro to drink - excellent. Also had the brioche which I shared - very good but very sweet. The eggs benedict were excellent as were their home fries. All in all a wonderful meal before the show.
So many delicious options and amazing steaks!!
The restaurant was fantastic. We both decided on steaks, and we're overjoyed with our choice. The meat practically melted in my mouth, it was so tender and succulent. Would absolutely go here again
The food was OK and the prices were fairly reasonable. The restaurant was so loud that we could not talk without raising out voices (just short of screaming.)
Perfect place to meet in New York City close to the Lincoln Center. Great service and excellent casual American food with the right balance. I can only recommend it for a get together with family and friends.
Love the Smith! Try the grits- the menu is great! Only trouble is that it is loud - not for an intimate dining experience .
The food was delicious and the service efficient. I had the cavatelli with short rib sauce. Highly recommend that dish. Conversation is very difficult. The noise level is not just loud, it’s super loud.
Always amazing food! Mac and cheese is the best!!!
Excellent summer dinner menu on a hot steamy New York day: extremely fresh apps (peppers and hummus) made to order not hanging out for hours or days in cold storage and exceptional dinner salads. Best part was our waiter Josh L amazing service and super attentive to allergies. He made the evening thanks Josh!
Great meals and a fun and lively environment! I highly recommend for a date and/or a meal with friends.
We have eaten numerous times at The Smith in the East Village but thus was our first time at this one. Very good food and friendly service. We had some drinks and started with the watermelon salad which was very refreshing in a hot day. My wife had the Shrimp and Gruts and I had the Tuesday special of fish tacos. Both were very good and decent sized portions. We also had the Japanese Eggplant side dish. It was a good addition to our meal. We slit the peach upside down cake for desert. As I said, a very good meal with very good friendly service.
Good atmosphere and the menu is very appetizing!
The Smith is consistently great. Excellent food and service. I always bring any of my visitors in for a nice and comfy meal!
Except for the noise level, you will love the Smith. My SO and I are older. So we typically like a place that is fairly quiet. But we keep ending up at The Smith because the food and drinks are so delicious, and the waitstaff is so sweet, friendly, and attentive without being fawning. We'll be back again.
Consistently good food and fun atmosphere
Friendly atmosphere, professional and courteous staff, reasonable prices (especially for Manhattan). We really enjoyed the Burrata as an opener. Very noisy indoors due to its popularity. Try to dine outside if possible. Definitely on my list of go-to restaurants.
Sunday brunch booking for 8. Extremely noisy and frantic place. Fine if it is a late night but this was 1pm! The food was nothing to shout about.
Food is pretty tasty but expensive compared to other options. Our service was so lack-luster. The server was nice enough when he was actually around but that wasn’t often and he did no more than the bare minimum interacting with us- had to ask multiple times for a side of mayo, sat for 20 min waiting for our bill before we had to wave him down and ask for it. Overall, it did the job but wouldn’t be rushing back, at least to this location, I’ve heard others have better service.
We arrived early for a reservation, greeted promptly, and were seated right away. Service was friendly, attentive but not obtrusive. Many interesting items on the menu, and our meal was very enjoyable. I would definitely return.
