The Royal Oak - Yattendon
Great family-friendly pub with reliable good food and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be going back!
Sunday night for roast after a long day spent outside in the cold... couldn't have asked for better service, food and a lovely warm welcome. Food was just perfect for Sunday roast...mmmmm!
We had a fabulous meal here with friends. The food was amazing - we chose to eat from the Asian menu. The food was faultless and absolutely delicious ! We will definitely be back!
We have been a few times and it has always delivered, so wouldn't rule it out on one experience. This time it was a little lack lustre. The Asian food did not really stand up in terms of Asian flavours. The Sea bass was lovely but with really bland veg and rice and soy sauce - disappointing. It also felt a bit like they needed our table so a bit rushed through. Love the environment and the pub.
We had a very nice, traditional but with modern versions if you wanted, Sunday lunch. It was very busy, but not oppressively so and we were well looked after.
Definitely one of the nicest meals (very good food(, that I have had for a long time.
Good varied menu, nice atmosphere. First time back since the next dining room extension, which is a great space, well designed for different party sizes.
Food was good. Service was friendly and helpful. Very kid friendly.
Overpriced. Slow cooked pork had to be returned raw!
Crumble ok but custard lumpy
The most delicious food, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Our favourite pub!
We choose to eat at the Royal Oak quite frequently as we consider it one of the best eateries around us. The ambience in the 'new' orangery is excellent and the service is good without being intrusive. We have small appetites and tend to order just starters ... which are most enjoyable.
My only complaint is that the table next to us in your lovely restaurant came in with a dog that sat next to me throughout my meal. I like dogs but not next to me when I am eating. Perhaps those with dogs should eat in the bar area?
Nice place, decent service but food was average and very overpriced
We were meeting several friends in the area and having been to the Royal Oak a number of years ago suggested we try there for Sunday lunch. We had an excellent meal. The service was attentive but not overpowering, the food well presented and tasty and the general atmosphere made for a enjoyable visit. We will definitely return!
We were so well looked after by Audrey that we would come again just for her. However the food was great and at long last my husband has found the perfect Sunday roast! We shall come again with other friends.
Beautiful place, nice staff and good food - I would happily go back and eat in either the dining room or pub area. The noise level is pretty high in the dining room if it's busy though!
We have enjoyed having Sunday lunch at Royal Oak. Our grandson was impressed by the Yorkshire pudding that was served with lamb steak. Especially, the service and the atmosphere were fantastic. We are anxious to visit the Royal Oak when we have another chance to visit our grandson at a boarding school nearby.
A family reunion and a really fabulous meal. The new addition to the Royal Oak with the fantastic conservatory is gorgeous and beautifully decorated with loads of atmosphere. Fantastic open kitchen and pizza oven. Good choices for vegetarians... and we have some fussy ones! I thought very reasonable pricing with drinks, £40 a head. We will be back
Met with 3 friends for lunch during the week. It was reasonably quite, mainly mums with young children. Food was very good if a bit expensive. I would have preferred better quality chips not skinny ‘McDonald’ style ones. Lamb wrap was delicious. Minor criticism was we all felt the service was rushed like they wanted us out; however we were never pushed to leave having finished our meal.
It is in a convenient location for us to meet and we will be returning.
great food, great service, place has been transformed and is now a wonderful place for a meal
Very smart with the refurb/extension etc. Very nice garden area and the restaurant is stunning. Enjoyed our lunch and the staff are very nice with just the right level of interaction/help etc.
Comfortable chairs are a must as far as we're concerned. These were perfect. Along with the great colour scheme and decor we felt this restaurant had got it right. The food was delicious, good choices unusual but all very tempting. Would definitely return.
Shame a couple of items on the menu were not available so restricting choice. But food was of good quality with service at a reasonable speed. One of the servers, not the manager, was rather stern and not particularly friendly. Otherwise, a generally good experience even if the prices are on the high side.
Excellent food and service from polite and well trained staff. We will be back next month to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Well done team!
Loved the new look! Airy light main room for dining. Very good unhurried service, good food at good prices. Definitely will return.
Overall very good. Lovely orangarie.
The skinny fries were very disappointing! Not cooked enough and no taste!
Pork ribs good
Good food lovely venue would recommend to friends and would go there again .
Very friendly and helpful service, excellent choice and quality of food, wine and drinks. Room and accommodation well equipped and very comfortable.
As usual The Royal Oak didn’t disappoint. The staff are always so friendly, the food superb and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend going for general dining of for a special occasion.
Great choice of menu - wonderful new conservatory. Pretty garden. Very pretty Berkshire village location. Thoroughly recommend.
Lovely place however the food was decidedly average.....
We were lucky that it was a very quiet Sunday evening so service was good. On a previous occasion (Friday evening) it had been very poor. The food was good but overpriced particularly the haddock and chips.
Very good service and Sunday menu was great ,suggest the pork belly
The Royal Oak has recently completed a major refurbishment and extension with more tables available in an orangery and lovely garden.
We had a table in the orangery, which has a lovely ambience with the tables not packed in so plenty of space. We are locals and have dined here many times before. As ever, the food and service are both excellent. Not a huge choice of options on the menu, but everything is cooked perfectly. Service is attentive but not intrusive.
Would thoroughly recommend and we shall be coming back again in the very near future I am quite sure.
We were really disappointed with our experience. I booked it for a special occasion after having a lovely meal on our first visit earlier in the year. The staff didn’t approach us at all when we sat down at the table and within 1/2 hour of being there we didn’t have any menus or drinks. Then when we ordered our food we were told both options were unavailable. This was both the vegetarian options and they didn’t offer an alternative other than pizza. It felt really disappointing. The staff did their best to redeem the situation but sadly I wouldn’t return and think other local pubs offer better food and service.
Very nice pub restaurant in small village. The place is well presented and a varied beautiful menu. Unfortunately we came when a busy function was on so I don’t think the place was ticking over so well with so many folks there.
Food was good, bit on the pricey side I would say to comparable pubs and restaurants in the surrounding and slightly extended area.
All in all a pleasant experience
Lovely new garden and fab food. Definitely recommend.
Lovely lunch in the garden
Great ambience and lovely friendly service. Always a favourite for date night with my wife!
Wonderful service, yummy food and looks even better with the amazing refurbishment
Recently renovated, beautiful pub with great staff and amazing food. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great Sunday lunch!
