The Queens Head Fyfield Beoordelingen en recensies
Dinner was really good. There’s a real cosy intimate feel especially in winter with candles lit and the log fires. Food was terrific. Every course was lovely and beautifully presented, with the best of it being a wonderful Rabbit Casserole!! Service is prompt and friendly and overall thought it was excellent value for money.
Too many old pubs have missed the boat in updating to the current lifestyle of wining and dining. So many resort to full-on restaurants and lose the ambience and clientele for those who want their local pub. The Queen's Head is both a local pub and an exquisite dining venue. The warm, cosy atmosphere and cheerful, helpful efficient staff blended with superb food made this a night to remember for our special anniversary dinner. It may be small but it is a gem worth seeking out.
The Queens Head lift the average pub Sunday dinner to a higher level. Okay it costs around a 1/3 more than other local pubs, but the quality of cooking, ingrediants, presentation and staffing levels take the meal to a different level. It made the date a really memorable occasion.
Recommended as a good food pub by my brother. Went for my partners birthday.
Ambiance and service good. Sunday menu only available and fish special all ready sold out.
Starters and desert were good but the roast dinner? If I had been to a commercial chain l would have been disappointed.
Meat grisly and tough, not real roast potatoes, broccoli more raw than al dente.
Side of cauliflower cheese was good.
Potatoes mentioned to staff with response of will let the chief know.
Although we were 10 minutes late due to road blockages, we were sent 'the long way round ' but when we eventually arrived, the front of house staff were very welcoming.
The menu was very interesting and diverse- then the specials were offered!!!!!
Spoilt for choice!
When the food arrived it was worth waiting for ( not that we had to wait long)
I even had pudding!!
The decor was sophisticated without being over the top.
The whole experience was very enjoyable.
It was our second visit and did not disappoint,
We took our family this time as we said we would and they raved about it.
Cannot wait to return.
I think the maitre de is called Rachel and she is superb,
My family commented on her welcoming and professional manner but all the staff were excellent.
Well done Queens head, now our favourite place.
I used to love the food here, but my last 2 visits have been disappointing with regards to content on the menu. I didn't even have a dessert as there was nothing as exciting or interesting as it used to be. Food was cooked fine for a midweek. The staff looked bored and were not very switched on or attentive. A shame as it's a lovely place.
One of our favourites in the area - the food is consistently very good. Quality produce is used and it's always full of flavour. We went for Sunday lunch on this occasion - the chicken liver parfait with brioche, followed by roast beef with all the trimmings and then bread and butter pudding with custard were all delicious - one negative was the cauliflower cheese was a bit watery but the other vegetables were cooked to perfection still with a bit of crunch . The service is always friendly and efficient - Highly recommended !
I can't speak highly enough of this little "neighbourhood gem". There is nowhere like it in the area for quality of food. It is simply sublime. The pub is cosy and full of character, albeit small, but there is now a room upstairs which would be good for a private gathering.
Really enjoyed the lunch ... it was creatively prepared and the service was friendly and efficient ... I wouldn't say it was particularly good value for money but that did not detract from my enjoyment ... however I would certainly visit again ...
Had Sunday lunch with my two daughers who were back from university. The Queen's Head has long been one of my favourite gastro pubs in Essex. It has the charm of an old country pub, a cosy atmosphere, excellent freshly cooked cuisine with a modern twist and the service is both efficient and friendly. The range of Sunday roasts is particularly good and the portions sufficient. The dessert menu is mouth watering. This restaurant is equally good for small family gatherings and romantic dinners. For non dinners there is also a good range of draft ales served at the bar.
