Extremely over priced for the quality of food and service. Will not be going back
After wiping the leftover crumbs from the previous diner (!) from my chair, I sat and appreciated the view.
Service was fine, but not stellar - one of our party had to wait after the first course was served for a utensil?
The food was good and the drinks well prepared. The fireplace provides a nice ambiance.
Pricing was not clear to me, as there was a lower price listed for children. However, our 11 and 13 year olds did not qualify and were billed as adults. As the check came, that is. Although I had clearly stated on my reservation that we would be two adults, two kids. No explanation until the check arrived, and I asked about this at the table.
Overall, a fine view, and a good meal.
Of course, there are many other restaurants in LJ and SD that provide a view with clean tables and necessary utensils, as well as kid’s pricing.
Never felt more plainly taken advantage of. 30% in gratuities plus tax! It's my last visit there.
Because it was a prefixe brunch and automatic gratuity, it felt like our specific server didn't come to our table often. I had to ask several other servers for coffee refills, salt and pepper, additional silverware. It was really a disappointing experience for a $300 brunch for 2 people.
Mother’s Day dinner.
Mediocre food in a beautiful setting.
Pre Mother’s Day brunch. Amazing location. Great service. The weekend brunch menu seemed a bit limited but we enjoyed our time and meal, for sure
There is a nice view and hotel has historic charm.
The Val never disappoints!
The remodel of the Sala is dreary: dark colors —brown!sofa and dark blue chairs belong in Grandmother’s attic. I had to use my friend’s knife until finally one arrived. It took 3 hours! For our lunch to be finished. The service was incredibly slow. The food was mediocre at best.
Our anniversary dinner was wonderful. It was our first outing since the pandemic, and we were a bit hesitant, but we were impressed by the safety precautions taken. The view, food, service were all excellent.
The musician was WAY too loud! The food was lukewarm.
We celebrated a birthday No recognizing of the event
Even though it was noticed in the reservation
The food was great and there was live music!
We had an awesome time listening to the live music ( Jemille Vialet) during brunch.
Lovely dining experience, with a great atmosphere and vibe. Amazing view
Refreshing cocktails with a beautiful view. Great service and were accommodating for us to move seats for a better view and more shade.
We had lunch outside on the balcony on a beautiful sunny day. The view overlooking the Cove Park my friend had the caesar salad, both with salmon. All in all, a perfect day in paradise!
Fabulous food and fantastic ambiance. It was a beautiful evening on the terrace.
We had a wonderful time! The presentation was excellect, room was perfect, service was great. The only complaint was the price... a little too high in price, plus there was an automatic 20% tip and a service charge.
Great view. Loved the Spring Tea and every bit of what they served as part of it. Would love to go again soon!
We had the exact same Lobster sandwich at George’s yesterday and yours was not as fresh. We had told our friends how wonderful the food has been ( for the 10 or more years) and we’re disappointed. I hope it will be better next time. The Churchills
Highly recommended. The views - inside and out - were a gorgeous feast for the eyes. The food was excellent - we brunched on lobster salad, crab cake, frittata with truffle fries on the side. We enthusiastically recommend giving them all a try. The cocktails were delicious, as well. Our thanks to the team taking on so many extra tasks, with care and attention required by current Covid-impacted circumstances, and doing it all with a smile! We're very much looking forward to coming back to The Med very soon.
Great spot in La Jolla. Gorgeous view, great food, great ambiance, and outstanding service. Looking forward to going back to this spot.
Great place for a drink or to watch the sunset!!!!!!
Service was very slow. Was just food.
Was in town for the day. Lovely service and nice presentation.
They food, service and ambiance were great!!
Great food, awesome views, and exceptional service.
Seated at conference type table with low chairs even though we had a reservation.
I had taken guests 3 times in 7 days and the food quality and serving size was not great in comparison to the previous days. My brother-in-law had the cob salad-very small and looked more like a side salad. My sister had the flatbread, much smaller than my serving the previous day. I can vouch for the Beyond Burger-very good.
I had to go to the bar to get our drinks after a 20 minute wait. Another long wait for our food.
No one came back to check on us or refresh water and iced tea.
Very disappointing, considering I had reservations.
I would like to give it another try, but my companions absolutely do not.
View exceptional looking out over a park to the sea. Server slow and not very attentive. Menu more conducive to a brunch/lunch not dinner. Only 3 dinner selections to choose from. Definitely will go back to see that view. Parking difficult at best. Best option to park is $15 hotel parking. 15 minute parking space close to hotel to get parking pass.
Always Love the venue .... service and music lovely.... food not A+ more b
Our Sunday brunch was as flawless as expected and will definitely do it again soon!!
Went for brunch this past Sunday. I ordered the Benedict chorizo it came out lukewarm. The food is ok - very basic. The med being in such a beautiful location should match the food they serve. Food is underwhelming - really need to get their culinary chops up. The view and ambiance is really nice! Service is also good. It’s a landmark hotel and place you should visit.
The menú was not good, they had very few things to choose from. Mostly a lunch menú not a dinner menú. Dissappoined
We did not stay at the hotel, which was beautiful. The ambiance was good. Six of us dined at their restaurant for the first time. We are local, so we frequent surrounding restaurants such as Eddie V’s and Nine-Ten. The menu has very limited options here and it doesn’t seem to flow well. The appetizers didn’t really go with the main courses. Nothing tasted better than average.
Fabulous tea! Lots of delicious treats on the tiered serving tray. Being greeted with a glass of champagne was wonderful! The room was beautiful and the view was spectacular. Our waiter was attentive and charming.
Beautiful view, chilly because of the ocean breeze, so dress warm.
This experience could have been so much more. There was a wedding going on in the hotel at the same time so maybe they were stretched thin but service was slow and the limited menu left us wanting.
We asked for indoors because it was quite windy. Dining room was completely lacking in ambiance: scuffed floor, old furniture, wobbly table, no music.
Drinks slow to arrive. Waiter inexperienced. One dinner arrived then we waited 25 minutes for the other three. Had to ask the waiter what was going on several times. He never once took initiative or seemed to care about us. Table next to us was seated 20mins after us and served 20mins before us.
We will NEVER return.
