We had a nice meal in an outdoor socially distanced atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and nice. The drinks were very tasty and the food was fine.
This place never disappoints me! I’m gonna come next time for some pool time!
Great food, friendly employee and fantastic views.... simply fabulous
Great view, good service, but the menu is very limited
Everything was great
Until I got my jams with the butter for the bread
Was terrible they gave me an open jar and somebody got a spoon full from it
When I complained they gave me a new one ????
I think this is a big deal with COVID 19 and how much we should be careful with cross contamination in a place like this fancy hotel ?
This is outrageous. Dirty and uncalled for
No body came in and apologized or showed us it is a big deal ?
What a shame
Very disappointed and concerned about protecting patrons with clean materials at the table
No valet, parking is an issue. Very limited menu. Outdoor dining only, no pads on the seats, no linens on the table. Food was good, but not as expected.
Eduardo and Clare were wonderful. We had the best table in the house
This was probably one of mine worst experiences of restaurants in San Diego. Hostesses didn’t even knowledge we were standing in front of her, I had to say hi so she would look up, super awkward. My first question was about parking, which she was super rude by telling me to ask the hotel front desk for help because she had no clue how parking worked (don’t you work here?). Front desk was super nice, they have a parking lot one block distance all you have to do is pay $12 fee. Then while we were figuring out about the parking situation she gave our reserved table outside for a couple that was behind us and had no reservation. It was absolutely outrageous. We had to wait another 20min for an outside table that didn’t had any view and when they sit us the table was awfully dirty and sticky. 5min later a much better table was free and we gently asked the server to switch tables that’s when she was super rude and kind of yelled at us saying once we sit we can not change place. Really? We didn’t even had our drinks yet, she could be courteous but she chose not to. Anyways drinks were ok, food was all right, just after being treated so badly from the first beginning is hard to enjoy your food. After all that when we paid the bill they just took 25min to come back and tell us they had a problem with system and they double charged one of our cards. Ugh! Everything was awful, it really ruined our Saturday mood. So I surely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
This place never disappoints and you can't beat the beautiful view.
Went here for drinks and the ambiance was wonderful. Beautiful spot!
The Med at La Valencia in La Jolla is always a good choice for exceptional food and great ambiance!!! One of my favorite places to eat in La Jolla, CA.
Delicious food -- everything we tasted was exquisite.
The best place the beat ocean view! Great food and friendly environment! Service was great! Thanks
Great views and love the outside patio!
I had not been to La Valencia in a long time and either had my friend who was with me. My friend was visiting and we decided to make a reservation.
Not having valet parking was not expected as I have valet parked at other establishments during Covid. There was a parking attendant for hotel guests and he very kindly gave us free parking in your offsite lot.
We were early for our reservation and had we waited would have probably gotten a better table.
It was a bit chilly for my friend so the server brought her a blanket and some hot lemon water. Nice touch
I was aware that the menu was limited but not being a picky eater that fare was adequate. I had a cobb salad. I have had many cobb salads but this one was not up to the standard one would expect at La Valencia. Unless you wanted to add chicken or salmon it was just a plain salad. I always thought that Cobb salads automatically came with chopped fresh turkey. The dressing was bland but edible. My friend had the lobster sandwich which was bland but ok. The french fries were good. Anyway we were disappointed and hope that the La Valencia will do better next time. Also, the wine by the glass prices were just a bit too pricey.
Amazing Valentines pre fixed menu. Great creativity and execution, where in general pre fixed menus usually flop.
A must stop for a romantic dinner.
I chose The Med at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla to take my wife to dinner for Valentine's Day. They were offering a 3 course prix fixe menu that looked very appealing. The food was delicious, the preparations were creative and tasty, and the entire experience overlooking the pool with the sounds of the waves crashing in the distance was outstanding.
Good service, food was delicious. The chocolate gift was the best!
Arrived on time for a Valentines Day dinner event and was told that our requested table on the veranda was not available, but other options were. I insisted on waiting for our preferred table which was an hour later than our reservation. At that point, I was somewhat disappointed, but here comes our server Rachel who made our dining experience wonderful. Her service and pleasant demeanor was all the difference needed to turn out night from somewhat lackluster to very enjoyable. Did I forget to mention the food was absolutely delicious?!!
The perfect location for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. Service, food, and music were excellent! The sunset was awesome from the Terrace, and we can't wait to return again this summer!
I went there for Valentine's dinner.
I was impressed by the very good service and the very good seat."It was a little cold at first, but I'm glad that they brought a stove along the way and it's no longer cold."
We had a wonderful time at The Med! We sat on the front patio and enjoyed some wonderful cocktails and lunch!! The Crabcakes BLTA WAS AWESOME!!!
Food was amazing!, excellent customer service, tickle me pink was a great event
Great views, adequate service, nice presentation and uninspired food.
Food was amazing, and service was great just really slow.
We celebrated our anniversary at the La Valencia Terrace and it was everything we could have wanted. Our reserved table was in the absolute best spot for sunset and La Jolla view.. our waitress was wonderful and attentive. The Cobb Salad with Salmon was excellent! They even gifted us a beautiful lava cake plate decorated beautifully. The whole evening was romantic and perfect. I highly recommend them to anyone.
We had horrible service. I was shocked considering this is a high-end restaurant attached to a very beautiful hotel. First of all, it was very cold when we arrived and the heater next to us was broken. The server did not even offer to get a manager or try to accommodate us in anyway. We were just told that “the sun looks like it’s peeking through the clouds so you should be warm soon“ something like that. Then we had to ask for refills of coffee. We had to ask for other things that we wanted. I ordered a Coca-Cola And it never showed up. I wasn’t told when I booked this reservation that breakfast ends before 11 or I would’ve made my reservation earlier if it was available. We had to order off the lunch menu. Mostly I was shocked by the lack of caring concern and attention. We felt like we were pretty much ignored by all the servers. I will never go again and I am a San Diego native. I hope the restaurant will reach out and speak to us. I will never recommend this place for dining. Food was decent. The seagull near our table was more attentive to our needs and the wait staff
I always enjoy coming here and I always get the best food and service. Today I had celebrated my parents anniversary and I thought what’s better place to go to ? Unfortunately today everything was amazing the food and the view but our server Edgar disappointed me and I feel what he did was disrespectful. Our check came to 173.00 and on the receipt there was no percentage of how much I should give him as a tip, plus his service from beginning wasn’t nice at all he had wait 10 minutes just before to take the drink order because when he checked in with me I admit that I was maybe little bit not nice cus I wasn’t ready to order anything. But that doesn’t mean he can treat me like that . So when I gave him the check with 15 dollars tip . He took the check and laughed and shakedowns his head on me . He didn’t even say anything. Because I respect my parents I didn’t want to say anything to him at that time . So please make sure your staff know how to treat clients because I always give great feedback for you all and I’m a manager at union bank so I know what client service is and what client customer perception is . Please I want an answer for this .
Excellent food on a lovely patio overlooking the ocean.
Love this place. The door is awesome!!!
Great patio and amazing food & service. Perfect place for afternoon sunset or brunch!
Best Christmas Tea ever! And the live music added to the ambiance. Service was fabulous and the setting is both warm and elegant!
Fabulous tea at La Valencia! I would highly recommended it!
I wanted to like this place so badly. This hands down has one of the best views in San Diego. It’s location is prime but the quality of food is very bad. We ordered a cinnamon roll and it came out with pink frosting and tasted stale. Our steak and eggs was very questionable and it was obvious that they were using lower quality cuts of meat. Not all hotel food is good, so I have to remember that. I wish the food was better here because I would love to come more often. I would suggest putting an emphasis on perfecting the food and beverage side of this awesome hotel.
Great TG food & gorgeous patio & lovely server...what more could one ask for.
A beautiful place for Thanksgiving or any dinner. Be prepared to spend some $$$$$ to have a great dining experience.
Excellent service, food and ambiance. The setting outside was very pleasant.
Always great food and location!
Dining out these days is usually a COVID compromise at best. But the balcony at La Valencia is as scenic and sensuous as ever. The Med - outdoor version - is made all the more impressive by Chef Timothy's surprising and satisfying flavor combinations. The 2-hour trip from LA was totally worth it. Even the coastal staple crab cake starter becomes a slow-bite treat with his creativity and skill. Oysters had the best mouth feel we've ever had. Each of the main dishes was a delightful mix of unexpecteds. Katie delivered professional, warm, and attentive service, even when we stretched out the experience over three hours. We're planning the next drive south.
