The Goose American Bistro and Bar
I asked for my steak medium and it came pour sliced, charred and cooked through.
Food preparation was no good- ravioli was overcooked, hamburger was just mediocre, nachos was delivered with jalepenos which was requested to be removed etc.
Food was not great and was overpriced
The food was great service was excellent. Noise level got a little high.
A family dinner at the Goose is always a winner
Something on the menu for everyone
Great service and generous portions
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff
You will be very satisfied
The bar was loud. We moved to dinning room.
We are there once a week and thoroughly enjoy this restaurant.
We have dined here a number of times and the food is generally good. The small plates and salads are pricey, given it's Summer. The Salmon with quinoa, brussel sprouts and kale was good. Another person in our group had lobster sliders and while good, were quite small. Would reccommend!
Brunch outdoors, nice setting, good food, good service.
They must have been short staffed in the kitchen because dinner was slow to arrive. It was good but not great, which is not usual for them. I hope it was just an off night...
Solid food. Extensive menu. Good vibe. Great service
A very nice restaurant with well trained staff- We had 2 young kids with us and it was perfect!
Very pleasant ambiance but a very tired menu and mediocre food.
We had a lovely evening and the food was very good & reasonable. Ken was our waiter and he was great.
We appreciate the Goose’s atmosphere and food especially after a 12 hour day of driving. Very relaxed and cozy
the waiter was exceptional. the food was good. crowded bar scene
Enjoyed dining at The Goose. Food was great, drinks delicious (cosmos)! Service was very good. Have already recommeneddd it to friends. Thanks
My wife and I really liked the ambiance but I am sorry to say my Johnny cakes were pretty disappointing .
They tasted like box mix pancakes, nothing special.
And for the price that was not a winner.
Maybe we would try the place again and order something else but first time eating there was disappointing.
Cozy and inviting! Excellent wings, burgers and French dip. Nice warm bread to start too.
Very nice. Surprised. Have gone for years!!!
Good, dependable food. Cozy. Lunch is quieter than dinner when early diners experience Moms with kids who are rowdy.
Decent place for bar food and a cold beer, very nice decor. Good for a night out with friends, but not a date place or for a special night out.
One of our favorite restaurants. Hosted two events in 2018. Excellent service, food and ambiance.
We go here almost every Saturday. Early. With the kids and it’s always a great experience and full of other families getting out early with the kids! I’m sure it’s great last 7p as well! :)
Good experience. Family meal for wife’s birthday.
Delightful evening with friends. Many families there as well. Fillet of sole was nice and lemony. The noise level was good so we were able to chat
Upscale with an old school pub feel. Friendly and attentive staff. Fish and chips were excellent. Can't go wrong in my book.
The Goose is a great go-to local restaurant! We had the Steamed Mussels, Homemade Meatballs, Fresh Ricotta Gnocchi & Penne Gagliardi...everything was delicious! Service is always friendly & attentive.
Delicious!! Consistently a great meal.
Good place for a burger or appetizer or full meal. Good price/value. Bar extremely noisy on Fri night but can go to back room and close the door
Great food. Great staff. Nice location.
Love the fireplace. Would be awesome to Be able to reserve it!
Amazing dining experience! My girlfriend who had lived in the area for 2 years and been to many restaurants says The Goose American Bistro and Bar is her favorite restaurant in the area!
The Goose never disappoints. Great selections. Food is wonderful. Comfortable and pleasant space. A hot spot. Highly recommend.
This was a disappointing meal - we've been to the Goose many times and had wonderful food in the past. Between the four of us this time, we had a way over cheesed risotto, a very overcooked, dry piece of fish, and a lousy carrot cake. Also a manhattan up that was watered down and still had ice chips in it. Hopefully this was an aberration, but it will be a while before we return.
So happy with this choice of restaurant, right in town, lots of parking in the back. Food, ambiance and service all great!
Quality of food was mixed. Small plates (shrimp, wings, calamari) very good. Turkey club sandwich pretty bad ... I could easily make a better sandwich at home. Others at table seemed mixed on their entry course. Now the bad: service. Waitress AWOL, really bad. She went extremely long periods of time without making any appearance at the table. Food was presented to table by another person poorly ... my soup was slung across the booth table to me. Very unprofessional. While the venue is very nice, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Make the reservation ahead of time! We walked right in despite the wait. Food was absolutely delicious and a great bang for your buck considering all of the expensive places in downtown Darien. I will go back and can’t wait to visit the bar. Get the French dip sandwich - one of the best I’ve ever had!
Food was just okay. Scallops were disappointing. “Hand cut French fries” were dreadful!!! Fried zucchini was very good. It was convenient and fairly quick. I can imagine it would be noisy if crowded. Servers were visible and just standing around, though our water glasses remained empty.
Great, classic elegant pub like ambiance with comfortable seating options. The food preparation is well above average and the service level stands out as highly attentive. I would strongly recommend The Goose to anyone who likes American style cuisine in a old fashioned atmosphere.
