With my self
The menu is interesting but very good. We heard about the mac & cheese and it was outstanding a real twist on an old theme. Ambiance is excellent and staff helpful with knowledge of whiskeys. Music was excellent.
I took myself in a solo date here and enjoyed myself immensely. I know have a standing reservation every Wednesday the rest of the month. Excellent service and the drinks were delicious. I had the black magic. Can’t wait for this week to bring my boyfriend and try a new drink.
We came with 7 people for a business happy hour, and the staff was very accommodating. We got there on the earlier side, and by the time we left it had really filled up. The jazz music was great, but we were still able to talk without feeling that it was too loud. I would definitely come back when I'm in the mood for a good whiskey drink and jazz.
Renowned for its extensive whisky offerings, the Flatiron Room also has fun cocktails and a reasonable wine list. I was in NYC for a business meeting and needed a quick bite before heading to the train. I looked for a place that had live music at 6pm and was pleased to find it here. The band was not a headliner, but entertaining and professional. Servers were attentive and the food was good. I would go back.
Great whiskey sommelier. Vast selection. Great chick jazz singer with piano and bass. Definitely going back.
Ordered Mac n Cheese , was very DRY... besides Live Jazz music and ambiance , I wouldnt recommend the place for food.
We didn't really have a great experience at this place mostly because of the woman in charge of placing us. We arrived at 9pm sharp and she said our table wasn't ready yet and offered us to stand at the bar in the meantime. She was really insisting on taking our jackets (it was a rainy day) and my sister's shopping bag (she asked us 3 times !!!). Then she placed us upstairs where there was absolutely no one and where we couldn't see the stage at all. So we refused to be seated there and preferred waiting for a better spot. She agreed, but placed us still super far away from the stage, close to the entry where it was very cold with a lot of come in and out. I caught a cold because of that...
We were supposed to have dinner but we changed our mind since this whole table placement thing was very annoying. One waiter was standing next to us the whole time, waiting for us to order dinner while we were having our drinks - and it was very awkward.
The choice of whisky is amazing, the music is very good, the spot is nice but that person placing people ruined everything with her condescending and rude behaviour. Such a shame !
We loved the atmosphere and decor. Live jazz music is hard to find in the City without going to the Upper West Side. Food was okay, but the old Hollywood feel makes up for it.
The ambience this place was lovely, and the music was really good. We were amazed to get food as reasonable and tasty in a venue that's really dedicated to music and so pretty to look at. It was an excellent value.
Amazing place! The live music was outstanding, drink selection was one of a kind, and ambience was exactly what you’d expect from a NY gem: Sophisticated, yet mystic, cosmopolitan, and unique
Always have a really good time here
This was our first time here and we loved it! Jazz music was awsome and our server was fantastic she really knew her whiskey. Def planning a return visit!
The atmosphere was like going back in time to a classic jazz lounge. Service was friendly and attentive without being annoying. I wish there was a little more variety on the menu but what we ordered--the salmon and the airline chicken--was phenomenal. We talked about it for days after. Conversation was a little tough because we were seated so close to the stage but hey, it's a jazz bar: we came for the music, not the conversation. The quartet was terrific and they took frequent-but-short breaks, so there was an opportunity to chat as we ate. The new spin on classic cocktails was intriguing but we stuck with wine and were happy with our selections. We were celebrating a birthday and not only did the staff all offer their best wishes but the house brought a free dessert. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion or a rekindle-the-magic-type date.
Although it was a nice place, I do think it’s overrated.
Overpriced Drinks and they do not event taste great! i had a 18 usd cocktail which was like a regular cocktail.
The place is nice but overpriced for almost everything.
Ambiance was awesome(music, lighting vibe) and so was our server. The food not so great... but its more of a whiskey bar
Great choice for live Jazz and craft whisky cocktails.
Great place for dinner and music
Awesome food, great drinks loved the white scotch and awesome awesome Jazz band
It was such a great idea to come with my boyfriend for my Birthday ! I didn't expect the surprise desserts !!!
A really really cool and quaint place-- it has a speakeasy vibe, and the drinks are really fantastic. What is great about Flatiron is that there's live music, but it's just the perfect volume that you can still carry on a conversation with a friend or date. Definitely going back! : )
We went here to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday. The staff was so accommodating and reserved THE BEST table in the house for us—front and center of the stage. The service was 5-star.
The food was so-so. I ordered the vegan diet an tacos and my boyfriend ordered turkey meatballs. My food was a bit cold and kind of tasted like pepperoni and yams. My boyfriend liked the meatballs a lot.
The cocktails were delicious and ice cold. The live jazz music was great! Overall I’d reccomend for a date and special occaison. I would go back.
Boring food. Drinks were good. Veggie tacos overseasoned and dry. Bison meatloaf was overcooked and dry. Portions were small and overpriced.
Is a really cool place. Fairly affordable as well. Unfortunately the first 2 bourbons my husband ordered weren’t available which was a bit disappointing. I also don’t understand why I don’t receive my open table points for the reservation....another disappointment.
A really neat place. We were there for a birthday and the band sang for her. Service was a little spotty, but after a quick comment to the host, things were much better. The music was great and the sound system is designed not to blow you out. We were able to carry on a nice conversation while the band was playing and we were sitting at a round top 10 feet from the stage. Nice touch for the birthday.
Great atmosphere. The light changing color as the tempo and pacing of the live jazz changes really keeps you in the "present". You learn to love jazz over again.
Bottom line -- you're paying more for the ambiance and live music than for the quality of food/drinks. I'm usually not that difficult to impress, but I left feeling meh.
Really great live music and beautiful interior. The service was fairly good too... though not without a couple awkward confused moments, including our cheese board being brought out with someone else's cheese card. The server didn't seem bothered by it, but I guess at least the actual cheese was correct (we think).
However, I definitely would expect better food for the price. It wasn't inspired, a bit bland... just ordinary and nothing special. Ordered the margarita flatbread - crust was a strange combination of sweet yet bland and just didn't go well with the flavor profile of the toppings. I felt like I was eating two things at once. The toppings were thankfully more flavorful. My date got the salmon and said it wasn't anything special and not really seasoned... just a piece of salmon with some green beans/tomatoes on the side. The salmon was cooked well, though. The cheese selections weren't that interesting either. Seemed like most of them had similar flavor notes - creamy, milky, soft or semi-soft, cow's milk. They were good cheeses, just wasn't enough variety to create excitement or intrigue.
The cocktails were a mixed bag - my mule was mostly ice and watered down, but the blackberry gimlet that my date ordered was delicious, so I ordered that as my second drink.
An okay experience. Not bad, but not good enough to make me want to come back again. I think I'll stick to the listening rooms and getting dinner pre-show somewhere where the food is worth the price.
What a unique place! Great whisky, tasty, reasonable food, and fun jazz. Enjoy the ambience!
Quite expensive ($225 for a Japanese Whisky tasting) and not really regarding on the dress code.
Food is good. Collection of single malt amazing. Flight tasting combination amazing.
You go there to enjoy jazz and see live. The seat given to us was pathetic as the way they have laid out the room is just unplanned for a high dollar paying customer. I had to leave early just because of all could see was bunch of people standing in the center and bar. I mean why do you put all these tables in front of a dining seat :(
The music at 6 was okay not great. They took long breaks.
The food was just ok. Steak bites were good but the portion was an appetizer size. Flatbread was stale. Mushrooms side order was over cooked.
Nice atmosphere. We were hopeful but it was just an ok experience. Maybe HH is more worth it.
Lovely time there - although we didn’t realize the jazz finishes at 10pm and we arrived at 9:45
Loved the place and would come back in a heartbeat
The Mac and cheese with guarnciale is heavenly
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was AWESOME! The food was super yummy and the music was fantastic. The ambiance was so cool and different from any other restaurant I have been to. Check out the jazz on Friday night!! It was so much fun!!
My boyfriend is big into whiskey so this is why we picked to go to this place and he loved it. The group performing was great and added to the relaxing, dim lighted ambiance. The service was so nice and they were very knowledgeable about the whiskey. We would go back again the next time we are in NY.
While The Flatiron Room didn’t go out of their way to help us celebrate our anniversary, our server helped educate us on my gluten free options. Their bourbon and whiskey selection was top notch and reasonably priced, as well. The music was great and wasn’t overly loud, either. Very enjoyable!
