Appetizers (oysters & mussels) were excellent.
Entrees (halibut & shrimp) disappointing
Appetizer and soup/salad were delicious. Entrees were cooked correctly but the flavors were unexpected
Halibut was superb. Cocktails were extremely well balanced. Mussels were our favorite.
Ian our server was welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. The daily margarita was inventive and refreshing. The poke roll starter was delicious, as were our entrees: the swordfish tacos and the swordfish. A coconut sorbet to finish was creamy and not overly sweet. We were seated outside, as requested, but were disappointed to be seated on a busy street-corner sidewalk. We would return, but would ask for a quieter table.
We had some sushi (maki) rolls as starters. These were under-seasoned and quite bland. For mains, we both ordered the swordfish tacos. The fish was dry and the tacos lacked the brightness and punch that one expects from a fish taco. Service was quick and efficient.
Impeccable service and delicious food with beautiful presentation.
Best dish I've had all year!
Made reservation on open table and we were seated promptly upon arrival. My son is not much of a fish guy but he loved the macadamia crusted halibut. Swordfish sauce was over the top.
The food and services was great. The table we sat at was next to a window and the flies were a nuisance. Other than that small hiccup, we enjoyed our experience at Fishery.
Excellent food and servic! It was a bit loud inside and Sam was able to get ua a table outside. Would definitely eat there again.
Delicious food and excellent service. Ask for Ian as a waiter
Mark was our waiter . He was wonderful. We has swordfish tacos and halibut fish and chips both were fantastic. Sat outside on the patio Sam the manager came by to see how things were ? Nice person
Favorite since they opened (San Diego resident of 4 decades). Dine in at least once a month, often lunch and everything is fantastic (staff, chow, fish market, etc).
great cocktails and food! lovely outdoor patio. oysters were amazing!
Did not disappoint; we are biweekly regulars who restarted our dinners at The Fishery because of the outstanding menu. Staff is very good; professional in every way. Outdoor service is very pleasant.
Outstanding, in every way.
Best meal i've had in a while. Everything was outstanding.
The food and service were outstanding! Highly recommend.
Excellent food. The only thing keeping this from a 5 is that none of the staff was masked which when inside, given the current infection numbers, seems to show a bit of disregard for the customers (not to mention staff). All the same, will go back (after the pandemic)
This place is one of my favorites. The fish is excellent, fresh, and very well prepared. That said, we felt really rushed by our waitress yesterday. We hadn't finish the appetizer (and we shared it) that they brought us the main dish. Also had to signal multiple times to get another glass of wine.
Dinner is an experience that includes service. I understand that all restaurants have been struggling during COVID but so did we, and it is hard to get a reservation. Make our dinner special again please!
Outstanding dinner with out friends who live in San Diego. Truly enjoyed The Fishery, our old eatery stomping grounds. Fully staffed and eager to please and food was delish
I went for the second time in just under a week and ordered the same items, but forgot to request "well done" on my swordfish. My fault totally.
Service was not as friendly as my last visit but efficient.
Very impressive. Good was very fresh and tasty with excellent presentation. Unique recipes to even common dishes. The Mexican shrimp with crab fettuccine was incredible. Worth the cost.
Amazing service and ultra fresh fish. A must try in San Diego
We make it a point to dine here every time we’re in the area. Thanks for another great meal, good service, & overall lovely evening!
I love this place, the food is always fantastic and last night did not disappoint.
Long time customers. Still great.
Absolutely excellent food and service. The New England clam chowder was probably the best I’ve ever had. Bethany was our excellent server. Will return again for sure!
Attentive, presentation was good, and food was great
My boyfriend and I booked a late Sunday night dinner last minute. We are locals & love seafood. We had a couple glasses of white wine the the appetizer special bluefin tuna carpaccio which was amazing!! We shared the grilled oysters (cooked perfect! Light spice) and the green curry mussels. We could have drank the broth! All the mussels were opened but still in tacked (a sign of cooking perfection) they were plump and flavorful. We shared the macadamia nut encrusted halibut which was the perfect blend of crunch and tender we could have eaten 1 dish each! We had to get the in-house made peach sorbet and a slice of the lemon tart to top it all off. The meal was delicious! Our server was attention and informative, unfortunately I forget her name. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks Fishery for a wonderful Sunday evening dinner.
The Fishery has become our new favorite restaurant! The food is superb, poke, carpaccio, Maine scallops, lemon tart; all the seafood is beautifully presented and melts in your mouth. The shared tart was the best we have ever had. Our outdoor waiter was menu knowledgeable, congenial and overall, perfect!
I enjoy my annual visits to The Fishery. My only thought this time was that an explanation of a specialty cocktail would have saved some extra effort on everyone's part. It was replaced with no questions asked, but had I known it was served "neat" and "up" I would not have ordered it. My swordfish was awesome! I may have to go back for one more dinner before I leave this season.
Food quality outstanding. Outside dining pleasant. Service top notch. Would/will definitely return here! Would recommend for all!
Our second visit to The Fishery provided another wonderful dining experience! We started with the summer salad, carrots and special appetizer (stuffed pasta with shaved truffle). Our entrees were the whole rockfish, macadamia crusted halibut and fish tacos. All were delicious and presented beautifully. Too full for dessert, but on our first visit we tried the lemon tart and chocolate pot de creme. Our server Tim was knowledgeable with menu items and provided exceptional service. We look forward to our next visit!
Great seafood at the Fishery. Oysters were fresh and properly served on shaved ice. We also tried the grilled oysters which were also excellent. I had the clams with pasta and found the sauce to be a bit too soupy - a bowlful of liquid left at the end. Partner had excellent scallops.
The double cut swordfish chop was outstanding! Bought some swordfish in the market for dinner at home - the best cut and very fresh. Delicious 😋. Live in LA but, definitely, will come back!
Have been going to the Fishery for 20 years and the food was pedestrian this time for the 170.00 ticket.
Everything was excellent! We ordered drinks, a couple of appetizers, and the swordfish for 2 to 3 people. Would definitely eat here again!
Chef Michael Reidy has made this restaurant one of my favorites. The menu he's developed makes it hard to choose. I was there for Sunday brunch recently. I had the breakfast smoked salmon croissant and my guest had the ceviche. Both meals were delicious. If you like fresh fish, this is the place for you.
The seared ahi sandwich and the poke are fantastic!
