The Chequers - Bath
Great food, excellent roast. Service efficient and welcoming
Good food, and very good service. Only slight issue might be that the toilets are down steep stairs.
Brilliant dinner. Inventive menu and beautifully cooked. Not cheap but worth it
We chose here for lunch when we traveled to Bath. The food was absolutely great and the service is friendly and nice, too!
Service was amazing! The staff were very friendly. Food and drinks were great.
Keep going back to Chequers in Bath. Always consistently good. Well run and team always happy and as a customer keep recognising the same staff faces even though only in town once or twice a year. Food fab as ever
A nice Sunday lunch but not outstanding. The upstairs dining room had a good ambiance and was buzzy, and I liked the window to the kitchen.
The stairs leading up from the ground floor were really slippy, perhaps there had been an oil spillage, but it gave a bit of a grubby feel as we took our seats. Our waiters were attentive and helpful. Overall a good lunch - somewhere I would try again for an evening meal.
We had a lovely meal to celebrate our anniversary at The Chequers - it's a friendly local in close walking distance of Bath city centre, serving delicious food with generous portions. It was Sunday night so fairly quiet but I presume it'll be much busier on a Friday or Saturday so would recommend booking!
A cute pub with friendly service. The Sunday roast was excellent. I would definitely come again.
Excellent lunch thank
Nice to find traditional Sunday English main course
That was all we needed. BUT I wouldn’t put Yorkshire pudding with anything other than with Beef . It was served up with lamb for me and there should be a suet pudding instead as you are trying to be traditional on Sundays !
Shared roast platter was delicious. Good wine selection. Service just right. Sticky toffee pud was nice enough but might have been a bit less cake like. Overall, a really good meal.
Amazing Sunday roasts!
Was recommended this place by a friend from Bath and oh what a great shout! The roasts were amazing and exactly what we were craving! Service was spot on and as this was a birthday celebration they even presented a candle and free desserts- totally unexpected but greatly appreciated!
Great value for money and of course happy to pay full! Recommending this to friends/family visiting Bath.
Food really great but I was so disappointed with the service and that totally ruined the experience. I was expecting better service at a place like this. The staff were friendly but seemed uninterested in the guests, and serving them. The place is so charming and food great so I would recommend it, but I would warn people to not expect outstanding service.
Great spot for a casual Sunday lunch. Service friendly and efficient. Really enjoyed the sharing roast.
The portion could be bigger, but definitely the best roast beef in Bath! Pity they only serve roast on a Sunday, otherwise we would be there more often.
We had an excellent Roast (beef). The meat was delicious and very well cooked. Very refined dessert. We could go with our dog who was warmed welcome by the staff. Overall a very good experience. I would definitively recommended to a friend.
We had a friends and family get together over Sunday lunch and it was excellent - to quote my 10 year old Godson ‘that was the best roast dinner in all my life!’
Food was good although maybe a little overpriced. When we were there the outside door was propped open which meant that we were sitting in a draught and didn’t do much for the atmosphere
Wonderful food in a lovely period pub with a very friendly welcome. Just round the corner from The Royal Crescent and The Circus but an oasis of calm. Will definitely be going again.
Service, setting, offering all absolutely fantastic. The cooking of the food was brilliant. The only thing that let the meal down was the quality of the meat.
It would be interesting to know who your butcher is. Other than that, absolutely brilliant.
From the moment we walked in the staff were happy and friendly which gave us a good feeling. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly helpful and efficient. It is a little bit more expensive that some other places but it’s completely worth it for the quality of food and drink that you get. I would definitely recommend a visit.
We had a cauliflower soup that was the best I’ve ever had. Outstanding food and service - would highly recommend!
Had the traditional Sunday roast dinner and it was delicious. Fish and Chips were great too.
Great place - simple menu and good food served promptly. Wine list good too and we’ll priced.
Really nice evening - thanks.
Absolutely love it here. The food is fantastic, cozy place, and friendly. Highly recommended!
Gorgeous food at good value, without skimping on portions, beautiful pub and top service. Will return!
Outstanding roast beef with all the trimmings. Take a healthy appetite. Starter not needed if you are planning on pudding - delicious crumble and custard. A most relaxing and enjoyable Sunday lunch.
Fantastic meal with really great mix of flavours. We had Sunday lunch which was so much more than just a roast. I can't really speak highly enough of it all...Starter, main and pudding. We will be making this a regular
Great food, service and environment. Relaxed without lacking atmosphere !
The restaurant has a warm, relaxed atmosphere. High end, but not pretentious. One of us tried the renowned fish and chip dish and loved it. Another one tried the Skrey Cod, a third one picked meat as the main course. We were all very happy with our choices. The dark chocolate terrine at the end was outstanding. The service was friendly. Good value for money.
Great food and great friendly informed service.
Would highly recommend
It was very nice! The food was excellent and I loved the ambiance. The service was very kind but was a bit slow later in the evening. Overall, a wonderful experience!
I used the chequers to feed myself when at a loose end. The menu is mostly gastro but I just wanted fish and chips. The fish looked very unprepossessing but it ate very well. Good ice cream. Not great beer for a gastropub. Would go again
We really enjoyed our Sunday roast, staff were very friendly, food was delicious and Bloody Mary's were perfect, would recommend to a friend
Had a really lovely Easter Sunday lunch here whilst visiting Bath over the Easter weekend! Really nice place, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the food and drinks were amazing and I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone either local to Bath or visiting for a few days!
We loved our experience. The perfect lunch on a beautiful spring day in Bath. Rest service and delicious food.
Our lunch here was so delightful and relaxing. The service, food, and wine were all excellent (we raved about the roast skirt, the homemade pork rillettes, and some of the best fries we've ever had) and they played great music at a nice level that didn't drown out conversation. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed and comfortable. Lunch here was also a much better deal than a pizzeria we'd tried the night before, perhaps partly because it's slightly off the beaten track, just outside the center of Bath. We had such a great time and would definitely recommend the Chequers.
Wonderful meal. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Loved the new tomato starter. Great wine list. 10/10!
