(We unfortunately cannot reserve our terrace tables, any bookings will have a table reserved inside although guests are more than welcome to sit at a table on our riverside terrace if one is available upon arrival)

Set on the bank of the beautiful river Cam in the historic city of Cambridge, The Anchor pub, dining room & river terrace is a stone’s throw away from the world famous Queens college & its stunning Mathematical Bridge.

Pub muy bien ubicado, un ambiente muy típico con comida tradicional y con amplia selección de bebidas. Los trabajadores muy atentos y agradables.

Three old friends were visiting Cambridge and it was up to me to find somewhere good to eat. My choice of the Anchor proved universally popular and I would not hesitate to recommend it to all and sundry. Great food and atmosphere and reasonable prices. Top marks.

I don't know if this is supposed to be a sit-down dinner place, but we made reservations, sat down, and weren't attended to for over 20 minutes. Seems like a lovely place for a drink, but if you are trying to plan a nice meal, I wouldn't necessarily count on it!

I had the steak sandwich which was ok but there was no salad garnish nor were there chips with it, so it turned out to be quite a small meal.

I've been in here on lots of occasions but on weds 22nd July it wasn't a good experience,we booked the upper table area but when we got there they had closed that area off,think it was due to staff shortage, anyway the staff all seemed very stressed and weren't very attentive like they were in my previous visits,when we ordered the food and the waitress bought it to our table one of my party asked if he could have some mayonnaise, the waitress told him to go up into the kitchen and get it himself which was very rude,my meal came out 10 mins after the other 3 meals even though my wife and I were both having fish and chips ,when I started eating my fish I realised it was so overcooked that the fish had basically shriveled into a dry crispy item ,it was hard to tell what was the overcooked batter and what was fish,I decided it was inedible so took it back and another waitress accused me of eating the best bits and bringing back the tail end of the fish ,which was totally untrue and I still had well over half the fish still on my plate,I did receive a full refund for my dinner but it's not good enough this was a special occasion,my son had come from California I'd travelled from stowmarket and I booked that place as it's always been good food and attentive staff but that really spoiled our whole day ,I'm definitely taking it further ,I'll add a photo of my dinner this is what I handed back and the waitress said I'd eaten all the best parts of the fish

Visited the Anchor many times with friends in the past few years. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and the food is always great. Nice to sit out on the terrace overlooking the river. Will definitely return.

We arrived during a busy lunch time. There was one young lady behind the bar serving a queue of people (she was friendly and calm), there was only one other lady who was bringing the food out from the kitchen. Poor service rating given was not for them specifically but overall as a pub during a lunch period to only have two staff working the bar and restaurant. Food was ‘ok’ and took over an hour to come and were only sandwiches. One couple in front of me cancelled their food order due to the amount of time they were kept waiting which again was over an hour. I wouldn’t go back.

Good atmosphere. We had the roast which was good just needed to be a bit hotter.
