Very beautiful restaurant outside on the lagoon. I had the pad thai which was just okay. Nothing memorable and my friend had the lamb, which she enjoyed a lot. Our waitress was amazing, however we waited a while for a food after the runners delivered our food to the wrong table. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, very sexy, and has a very unique atmosphere.
We've been to this restaurant before. The food is good, but not the best Thai food we've ever had. However, a clear plus is the opportunity to sit on elevated huts that overlooks the water. We arrived in plenty of time for our reservation--through Open Table. When we asked for a table overlooking the water, they said none was available for the upcoming and next time slots. They showed us a graphic indicating those tables were "reserved." (BTW, the staff of three, who were seating people for two restaurants seemed rather confused.) We had to settle for hut off the water. We then had a good, but not spectacular, Thai dinner. And, it was not cheap. Upon arriving back to our resort, Open Table sent an email wanting to know why we missed our reservation, with the following admonition "When you miss a reservation, it can adversely affect the restaurant. So we kindly ask that the next time you need a rain check, please do what you can to cancel the reservation." Shame on them for believing this incompetent staff and not asking us first about the reservation issue. And shame on Thai restaurant for not seating us at the table we reserved. Without the elevated hut with water view seating, this is a mediocre restaurant.
An incredible location with outstanding food. Whenever we make it to Cancun we always have to have dinner at this restaurant. Great food, impeccable service and enjoyable view.
Awesome on the water.
Wonderful experience. Excellent food. Quiet and secluded....a very relaxing experience
Went to Thai for my husbands 40th birthday and it definitely was a unique experience, the atmosphere in the place is very laid back, they have done a great job to make it feel very cozy in there. We did not get one of the huts on the water because we went with our two toddlers.. too risky! But our inland table hut was equally cozy and with very romantic lighting. The food was great for a Cancun restaurant but I wouldn’t say it’s the best Thai I’ve had.
The two things I did not like that much were that you could hear all the clapping, music and cheering during the dolphins show in the aquarium right next door, once every hour Mabe? It ruins a little bit the vibe of the restaurant. We did go early in the evening though, the shows ended around 8:00 pm and after that you can see the dolphins from the bar which is actually pretty cool. Second, I think it was a bit pricey for what it was.
Lastly, on another positive, They brought my husband a piece of cake with a candle which was a very nice touch.
Hermoso lugar y comida deliciosa.
We went Elefanta, their sister restaurant the previous day and had a fantastic dinner and decided to try their Thai restaurant. The Thai restaurant had a great ambiance and view but fell short on the food and service. Food presentation was great but didn’t taste good. It was also overpriced compared to their sister restaurant, Elefanta. We were there to celebrate my sons birthday and they didn’t acknowledge that or even bring out his cake dessert as a surprise. Also, our waiter was a bit dishonest applied a tip of 15% and pretended like it was their restaurant policy to give a minus of 15% and didn’t give me the option to change it. When I spoke to the manager, turns out that wasn’t the case. Would not recommend or return to this restaurant.
Very frustrating that their “special” chef does not let you request changes on meals. For what you pay they should be more flexible.
I have pad Thai every time we go there and last night I couldn’t finish it. The noodles were sticky and it was too sweet.
We will not be back.
The service was good and we enjoyed the crocodile swimming around our table.
Excelente experiencia!! Regresaría mil veces!
Table seating in a hut with the view of water is enjoyable and different. Thai dishes from menu just taste ordinary, nothing outstanding and way overpriced. The server delivered your drinks, no water available and then the mains came (not hot enough, too saucy, shrimps overcooked). The curry dish tasted fine and good. The bill came stated suggested tip at 15% and server insisted that should be the minimum required or more. We will not come back to this place.
When making a reservation, ask to sit by the water!! Ambiance is fantastic. I’ve had better Thai food- would go back just for the location.
Such a beautiful restaurant definitely the nicest place we went 4 dinner in Cancun highly recommend it if visiting Cancun. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Food was amazing and the nicest atmosphere.
Awesome ambience and food. Staff made sure my daughters stopped to see the dolphins.
Thai-Cancun is incredibly romantic with individual tiki huts for each table, some on land, some on the water, especially given its location behind La Isla shopping center and close to the Aquarium. We were a bit disappointed we were not given a waterfront table, in spite of reserving several weeks in advance. The service was good and the food was quite tasty. Also a nice change from Argentinian steak and tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. Portions are on the smaller side, designed to be shared with multiples ordered but this might work better with a larger group. We shared two entrees and two appetizers and it was OK for two seniors
We love Thai Cancun. It's a great place to watch the sun set over the lagoon in your own palapa. The food is wonderful and the staff attentive. We were saddened to see that the vegan rolls were no longer on the menu. But as vegans we were still able to find great options. This year we bought a group of 6 of us and everyone loved their food and experience. We will be back next year.
My favorite place to eat in Cancun!!! Reasonable prices and fabulous food. Best ambiance on the strip! ❤️
My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday and we were sat at a beautiful cabana over the water and it was super romantic.
We have been to Thai Cancun a number of times over the years. The setting is lovely and the service is very good. However, the Thai food seems overpriced and under-sized. Ordering is via an electronic table so have a pen and paper handy to record your selection to make it easy on everyone. Our Thai restaurant in the States has a wider selection and quantities to make sharing possible...not to mention taking home goodies.
There’s no question, the best and most unique feature of this restaurant are the huts over the lagoon. They make for a super romantic and relaxed ambiance for your meal - make sure you ask for one of these tables in your reservation... stunning sunset views! The food was also quite good, we were pleasantly surprised. Delicious curry, chicken skewers and beef. Prices are marked up because of the view, but worth it to us. Server did become a bit too pushy when it came time to tip, but otherwise staff were friendly and attentive.
One of Cancun’s “Must Go” restaurants, even if you can just tolerate Thai food. Ask for a hut on the dock. They are private palapas for 2,4 or more with amazing views from the mangrove forest. There is even a huge crocodile! You need to have reservations and the earlier the better the spot. Other private huts are on land in the jungle. In short, the ambiance is amazing. The Next door Indian Restaurant, Elaphante is almost as nice if you prefer Indian. Just no huts on the dock.
The food at Thai is equally great. Not a huge selection. Drinks are also fantastic.
If you arrive before sunset (it opens at 6:00 PM), you will get a great view. It may be hot and bright, just before the sun goes down, but worth it on nice nights.
Expensive but worth it.
Beautiful location, great ambience and the food is good if somewhat spicy. This is the second or third time that we’ve been there and have asked to do some dishes milder and were told that it would be, but the dishes still comes out super spicy.
Unique ambiance in a tiny hut over the lagoon. Great food and service. Beautiful! Priced reasonably.
Great ambience. Table are set in individual huts near the water. Good well prepared food. Good pleasant service. Nice selection of drinks. But food choices seem rather limited. I would have liked more sea food choices. Mostly shrimp and fried fish. Prices seemed a bit high.
Great experience all the way around!!
Fabulous ambiance, wonderful food and amazing service
We had friends with us and we wanted to share this special place with them. They thoroughly enjoyed Cancun and said, Thai was their highlight! Very special indeed :)
Food and ambiance is excellent portions are small and a bit over priced for quantity of food received
Great!!! A beautiful place, quiet and excellent service
Very cool atmosphere. The tablet menu was odd but the food was great!
We love Thai. Go there every year. It is one of our favorites for all reasons.
We had a lovely early New Year’s Eve dinner at Thai. The view at sunset over the lagoon is always beautiful! Our waiter Melvin was very personable and attentive. We have been here several times and it is always enjoyable.
Wonderful food and ambience.
