Taj of India

Incredible food. Awesome service.
The food was tasty, but cold! We asked for it to be reheated, and it was still just lukewarm. Ambiance is beautiful, but it shouldn’t be a challenge to get food to the table at the right temperature.
Great food and attentive and knowledgeable staff. The best part was that it wasn’t noisy! It was busy but somehow we could hear each other without shouting. We asked for something not technically on the menu with no problem.
Good value Indian cuisine. This time I had the buffet, which was tasty, but I’d like a little more spice and some more options.
Great food. Excellent, professional, and friendly service.
Too many servers helped us. I think the whole family waited on our table. Better if only one or two. There were at least 5.
We went to Taj of India for Valentine's day. It was very good. The food was excellent, the price was right, and the service was friendly. We ordered the appetizer platterand the choices were excellent. For our dinner we got the Thali and a curry chicken. Both were very good. They ask if you want the dishes spicy. We said medium and it could have been spicier. All in all it was a great evening and we will surely be back.
Excellent food and service!
The food was tasty but was not served hot enough.
Very much enjoyed our first dinner at Taj of India. The service was excellent, the food very tasty and generous, and we also enjoyed the excellent and quite reasonable mixed drinks. The ambiance is nice, and it is possible to have good conversation as it was not too loud. We will be back!
Would definitely go back again. Was very good!
Excellent food and service. We had a wonderful, authentic curry dinner. Enjoy!
Wow! My wife and me wanted to try a new cuisine experience, and this was the best experience we could ask for. The food was amazing, the service was also incredible. Thank you for this experience
Fantastic martinis! Great food. Quiet restaurant for Georgetown. Wonderful staff and excellent location for Georgetown, the West End and Foggy Bottom.
Being an Indian we know what Indian food is !! This place is horrible, they are selling Indian food knockoffs for a heavy price. The oil felt old and stale, the paneer dish felt like something deceiving. The biryani was like pulao and the yoghurt was super smelly a sign of old curd. please don’t get cheated and eat there. There are so many more authentic places you can get the real experience from!! The food is mediocre and really not the Indian standards and probably will have health risks!
Excellent service and delicious food! Great ambiance.
Excellent food and great service. We will be back
Love this restaurant. Food is delicious and consistent!
The service and the food were excellent. Just the right amount of heat and everything tasted fresh and bright.
Many vegan options that sounded so good!! I had an eggplant purée dish and it was awesome - very tasty and fresh. Will definitely be back!
We had a lovely evening and dined outside. The food was delicious and service excellent.
The food was wonderful. However, the staff seemed perplexed by someone actually having used Open Table for a reservation. It took a while to get that straightened out. Also, although the restaurant was basically empty with a lot of larger tables set for parties of 4, it would not accommodate our request (we were a party of 2) for one of the larger tables. A larger table would have come in handy given the number of plates and glasses employed in our dinner.
Wonderful food.
Lots to choose from. Food was very good
It was our first time dining at Taj of India, our group truly enjoyed the food. We were able to sit outside on Saturday evening and watch the sunset, it was a great date night. I strongly recommend you make a reservation, as they were very busy and I was grateful that we had the foresight to make a refreshment.
While the food was enjoyable, I had to wait one and a half hours for my food. The people sitting by us arrived 10 minutes after us got served 20 minutes before us. After this occurred we complained and after the manager came over to our table and told us we were wrong and everyone arrived at the same time. The service was awful and I would not recommend.
The only problem was that Taj neglected to tell Open Table that I showed up for my reservation. I was able to clear that up with Open Table.
Everyone on the staff is always very welcoming. We have been enjoying this food for about 15 years.
Yummy! Will be returning.
Not real Indian food. Flavorless, tasteless, not well cooked. I got raw shrimps, be very careful if you are planning to eat there. They do not have flat bottled water. Do not recommend this crappy food.
The Buffet was Cold. Three diferente chicken dishes. A Biriyani that tasted very bland. The waitress was not very nice and did not want to serve chai tea after lunch because the kitchen was closed at three pm. We were there since 1:45pm. But was serving lunch to an indian couple after 3:00pm. A bit shocking!!
We got the vegetable Samoas which are delicious and then ordered butter chicken and mixed vegetable curry with naan everything was spot on. This is our favorite Indian restaurant!
It was a wonderful place to have dinner. The wait staff is very nice, and the food is absolutely delicious. Furthermore, the price is very reasonable especially considering the area.
The service and food were great. The Indian beer, Taj, went well with our courses.
Excellent food and service. Manager cares about his customers.
Highly average food at exorbitant prize. They have no clue how to cook an authentic Indian food.
Taj of India is conveniently located in Georgetown and has a pleasant atmosphere. Surprised as to the last minute availability on a Friday night. If you’re a fan of Indian food, the menu is quite expansive with seeming lots of good choices. If you have a limited taste for this type of food, you can generally find something to enjoy.
The food here was soooo good. It was filing, healthy and tasty. Next time I’m back in DC, I will definitely come here again. Can’t wait to tell my friends & family back home in New York the best go-to for Indian food in DC.
Our favorite Indian restaurants were all closed for the holiday so we came here almost under duress and I must say it was very delicious. My husband wolfed down his butter chicken which was very much to his taste. If you like really spicy Indian food this might not be your cup of tea but many times my husband can’t enjoy because his spicy hoy threshold is pretty low. So this was a very welcomed change. The Naan was perfect, a bit charred in the bottom, which I like but buttery and not too crispy. I actually took my food home and it was even better. Very happy! The pace was packed. My only complain was that I was seated with my head literally behind the bar counter and every time they handled the glasses that were behind me it was very startling. Will definitely come back next time we are in DC.
Food and service were excellent. Soup and entree were perfect. The garden salad was disappointing- iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes only
