Our favorite sushi place. Always fresh and tasty.
The best sushi on UWS.
Someone told me this was the best Japanese restaurant in Manhattan. It was fine, but nothing extraordinary, at least for lunch.
Not so crowded last Saturday. Ambiance was excellent.
Such wonderful food that it’s worth dealing with the volume of the chatter.
I’ve eaten here 6 times and always get fresh delicious food.
Bento boxes, hand rolls, udon noodle soup with tempura! Salad w ginger dressing! Shumai!
Red bean and green tea ice cream are special, unique, and lovely desserts.
Very, very good.
Must make a res. it is very popular.
I’m going back!
Great place best omakase in the city at the price!
really loved finding this place! Great quality sushi at an amazing price! I will be back!
This popular neighborhood gem is almost hidden by the bulging front of the restaurant next door. Excellent menu options. Respectable sake list. Good Mini-Omakase available at lunch. Full Omakase at dinner only, superbly priced.
Food was average. Green tea ice cream was good. On menu, it said to tell the waiter if you do not want whipped cream. I said nothing and received mine without. When I asked him to add it, he got an attitude. It was early and not busy so there was no excuse. Atmosphere was not appealing. I expected that the entree of sushi would come with a soup or salad but they changed that policy since the last visit there.
One of the best Japanese restaurants on the UWS. Please, please deliver above 95th Street. I and many others would love this.
Service isn’t good!!!!
Best tempura I've had in NYC. *very* popular so reserve well in advance.
Excellent food; crowded and very very noisy. However, food is worth it.
Best sushi in NYC, no doubt. Get the Omakase! Service sometimes could be better. Extremely noisy. But overall my favorite sushi place in the world
This is my favorite Sushi(Japanese) restaurant in all of Manhattan. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurant in my time in New York. I've been here for 20 years and this is by far my favorite restaurant in Manhattan the service is fantastic the food is stupendous and overall atmosphere is nice and quaint and it's just amazing.
Always delicious, affordable and great staff! My go-to for sushi on the UWS
Best place for affordable sushi in the neighborhood!
Great food!! The sushi was really remarkable!!
Best sushi deal in NYC hands down. Reliable and authentic sushi in bargen price. No wonder the place is packed always.
Wonderful seafood, friendly service, nice atmosphere. We’ll be back.
the quality of the sushi is exceptional for the price.
Overall experience is pretty good but seating is a bit tight and I keep getting bumped by the person who seated behind me.
Would be nicer if I get to book the sushi bar seating for the omakase experience.
Will definitely go again next time for that.
I’ve been going here for years. The quality of the food has declined greatly. Rice was over cooked and rolls were not put together properly. Eel roll had a sliver of eel. Just not worth it to eat here since they are priced about double what other sushi places charge.
Food is really the best thing about this place, which is very cozy. Service can be improved, but I understand that it is always full of people.
A madhouse on a Tuesday evening. Loud, crowded, overpriced and evidently very popular, at least for now. Except for superior salmon (sake), fish quality only average. First time in 40 years of eating hamachi sashimi that restaurant offered 2 kinds. Regular, 2 pieces for $7. "Fatty," 2 pieces for $9.00. We ordered both to see difference and discovered the $9 consisted of 2 very thin slices of no better quality than regular hamachi found at other rests. in NYC and LA. 2 pieces of unagi sushi at $9.00 arrived at table cold. We mentioned to excellent but harried waitress on delivery of bill-- but the manager refused to credit us, saying we should have complained sooner-- which was impossible in the dinner crush-- and we were starving. Manager showed very poor judgement which may eventually doom him and this pretentiously priced local restaurant.
Prices have increased quite a bit over last couple of years. Service is so rushed as if they went to get you fed and done which also changes the ambiance to rushed. Sushi is still delicious! Host staff acts like they are doing you a favor letting you eat at their restaurant.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Our table was available on time, the service was prompt and the sushi was top notch. You could not ask for much better from a local neighborhood place, convenient to Lincoln Center. It was a good value as well! Definitely ready to go back on my next visit to NY.
Authentic Japanese. Excellent service.
The sushi is outstanding and the value is great, also, but the noise level is off the charts.
There probably isn’t much that can be done since the space is below ground with low ceilings.
We had a reservation at 6:30, but had to wait for 13 minutes until
seated. The same thing happened last time. Apparently, they take too many reservations for a short period of time. It’s called overbooking! Food is good for the price, but their service has deteriorated since the restaurant opened. I ate there on the second day of the restaurant as I live across the street. It’s sad. Not sure if I want to recommend it to my friends anymore..
My new favorite sushi spot. Our waitress tonight though needs to go back to hospitality school
Almost all the people there are in a bad mood , but the food was awesome
Always love going there and the food is reliably fresh. Need a reservation for dinner, even on a Wednesday evening packed and people keep arriving. They don’t rush their clients but there is a lot of coming and going so you know it is good. People of all ages go there. One of our favorites and only sushi we eat on Upper West Side!
Best in upper west side
Loved it here. Amazing how I didn't even know it existed till OpenTable told me. Very unassuming from the outside. and then BAM, it's hustling the quality. Thank you
Fun experience; food is excellent as is sitting at the sushi bar! Very good energy at the restaurant and professional service!
Consistently better than most sushi places on the UWS.
I have been here a few times and the fish quality is excellent. The Tuna Avocado is one of my favorites, just the right balance of savory and wasabi.
Great value for food. Would def return again! Wish they were better with reservation times. Had to wait a bit even with a reservation.
