They are under staffed so there was no servers. I understand that’s not their fault but the issue was when their computer system shut down so we were unable to order dinner. No one attempted to take our order with a pen and paper so unfortunately we only ate some appetizers then closed out. It wasn’t until we were walking out probably 20 minutes later that we heard their computer system was working again. I used to love stone but it’s disappointing they don’t have any staff.
Yes, Covid is taxing. I understand. We picked Stone Brewing because it had a large outdoor seating area and tables were well far apart--this is great! However, due to Covid, few servers are returning to work. Servers there wore no masks. There was no service, only a scancode to order food, or extra plates or drinks. We were given napkins and seated. Everything else required a cell phone. My family sat around looking at cellphones, as there were no other options. Sad. There were few people to ask (as they went by running food to tables) about what was in the food (there are allergies in the family), or what might be more popular. This option is no longer available at Stone Brewery-welcome to the new age. This was a birthday party and it was supposed to be celebratory. No service, just phones. No one to ask what was good or what had allergens. Could not find recipes online. My non-allergic son liked the beer and the ribs. My salad could have been purchased at Vons as a $5 item in plastic. I was dissappointed, to say the least. Yes, Covid sucks. Best to stay home.
We were seated quickly and all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We were having some issues with the online ordering system because of spotty Internet and they were very proactive about sending a server to take our order and make sure we had everything we needed. Food was delicious and the selection of beers (and beer knowledge of our server) was excellent. Great outdoor atmosphere.
We were excited to dine at Stone Brewing, but were disappointed and confused with the ordering and payment process all being done with a QR code on our phones. This process makes no sense! It took the person that seated us (not masked by the way), just as long to explain the system as it would have to take our order. The actual server, visited our table so many times that she easily could have taken our order in the "normal" way. If this system is meant to save time/labor/COVID safety concerns, it's not working, nor is it "customer friendly".
Firstly not sure why they ask if it’s a special occasion! There are no waiters to take orders, you have to use online ordering, which takes forever, we were a table of 9 and it was a nightmare! If i wanted to order online, I would have stayed at home and ordered from Uber eats! You even have to order side plates and napkins….it took a good part of an hour to get everyone’s order in online because the app kept giving error messages. Additionally you can’t ask anyone questions about the food because no one comes to your table except to drop off the plates of food. No one clears plates either until you leave, no glasses cleared. If you want another drink, back to the online site. It’s a joke! Best is the recommended tip is 20%….for what? No one served us besides just dropping plates off… ruined a birthday lunch, because half the time you were trying to “serve” your own table by taking orders. Easier to go to a drive thru! A thought to the owners, you’d probably make more money if you had staff waiting on tables…ordering more drinks and food would be easier, our table just wanted to leave!
Stone half pays for itself with the atmosphere and decor. Most other guests sat outside so the inside was very quiet. We enjoyed the QR ordering although being required to tip at least 18% seemed high since all the servers do is deliver the food.
We made a reservation for outside. Every table had a QR code unique to the table so each person or the whole table could scan and order whatever they wanted whenever, keeping a tab open. Servers still stopped by the table to make sure everyone had what they needed, but the safety precautions also allowed us to order and talk at our own pace. It was wonderful. The food and drinks were delicious.
Lovely outdoor seating area. The airplanes overhead are just part of the charm and expected as you are in the flight path. The food, staff and ambience ard always a go to.
Ordering was cake, but the real issue was asking about drinks and what was popular and etc. to try as this was our first time out here. Everything else was Fantastic
They now force you to use an app on the table to order your entire meal. It’s not in sync with the rest of the guests at your table so food and drinks arrive randomly. There is no longer a server, they basically are just IT to help train you on how to order for yourself.
You even have to order the exact amount of napkins, waters, condiments, etc on the app. The app also makes you create an account with your credit card, email address and phone number and tracks everything.
If this is the future of dining, I’m eating at home.
Everything at the Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens (which is a mouthful) was enjoyable and as expected. The only minor downside is the constant jet noise from Lindbergh Field. You are able to confirm that the airport serving our city is a very busy one. Otherwise the dining experience outdoors is very good.
Jennifer at the front desk was extremely rude upon arriving. Very hostile and uninviting. Other than that, the rest of the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Very good food and outdoor seating area, The ordering via the App gets some getting used to.
The service and ordering experience was terrible. Unfortunately, the food quality was not great either.
We ate outside and they have one of the best outdoor seating areas.
We normally love Stone but this visit was less than usual on service and quality. We had ordered drinks for our children and we had to find a server (who were all very busy) to ask for those, silverware, and an extra water glass and water. The salad I ordered was not flavorful and mostly was greens, not much added. My husband's wrap was also not up to par, not much flavor. We had a lovely table next to the koi and the umbrella was very helpful for shade, and the kids enjoyed their meals. This time around we were disappointed and didn't feel the food was at value.
Awesome outdoor patio and very dog friendly. Wait staff was always friendly and helpful. We were able to request a specific table through Open Table and that request was fulfilled by Stone. Very happy with the experience!
Great service, beer, and food. Best in San Diego
Service was automatic/phone menus and paying…. Not a fan. Otherwise great service
Slightly disappointed in overall experience. Would not sit near Koa pond area in the evening. Everything was moist and damp. Ordering system is slightly cumbersome. We ordered appetizers and main dish and everything was brought at once.
Portions were small, food quality was meh. QR code sent us to a page with a 404 error. Was able to manually navigate to the correct page. Ambiance was great, but food needs a lot of work.
Great location, ambience and food and beverage!! Would highly recommend!
Overall great experience as usual.
I love stone brewing so much. This location is so beautiful, however the sound from the airplanes is defining. We always go to the Escondido location which is unfortunate because then we cannot have hardly any beer. I wish more than anything that stone would open another location in San Diego that was not so affected by airplanes. Somewhere like Mission Valley that’s easily accessible but does not deal with constant airplane noise and god knows how much air pollution.
All good, no complaints in service or food quality
Such a great place! We were early for our reservations and the host graciously seated up, no problem. The food was delicious - service fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect for my family of four.
Wonderful food and service as usual. Ordering was easy and food/drink came quickly!
It took over 40 minutes to get our food. Brisket sandwich had way too much fat and gristle (that should have been trimmed off). Servers were all helpful and professional, great atmosphere, but altogether a disappointing experience compared to past visits.
Loved it. Great beer, great food
What a great place to eat as well as hang out! Koi pond, lawn games, great food and beer. The only thing that was a little confusing is having to scan the QR code on your table and order everything from one device - plus pay and tip right then as well. The service was really quick after we put in our order. When hanging out in the lawn area, you scan a different QR code and go to the bar to pick up your drink order. It was very fast and nice not having to wait for a server to come around and pick up your drink order (or wait in line at the bar).
Excellent service and food was good. Recommended dining location.
Love the food/ beer and outdoor dining
I loved the atmosphere, very tranquil, despite the airplanes passing over. The drinks are splendid, and I also loved a waitress named Taylor, she was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back here.
Not having a server to attend our table when we needed to ask for things was a bit inconvenient.
Overall I enjoyed our night at Stone Worls Bistro, the ordering process was a bit hectic and I wasn't pleased that everyone got their food at different times. We did have a big party and I was extremely pleased with the help we received from the staff on the ordering process.
Stone was the perfect spot for a family celebration- easily navigated for aging grandparents, plenty of fun things to explore for the little ones, buzzy enough that kids didn’t bother other people. Good food, great waitstaff
This Stone was amazing. The guy that brought our food out was AWESOME! Where are the gargoyles ?????
Great outdoor seating area and the food was delicious!
Always a fun visit. Great food and drink and an unbeatable garden for outdoor seating. Love it every time!
