Restaurante Casa 46 calificaciones y reseñas
We live in Mazatlan part time and we were excited to discover another relatively new restaurant. The location is fantastic, the staff are lovely and the wine list has a reasonable selection. The food however needs improvement. My husband had the grilled octopus appetizer and it was pretty good but not really sure if it was fresh as there were bits that looked deep fried. My beet salad was delicious. The main course was a bit of a disaster. The braised pork shank was awful - it looked and tasted like it had been sitting since yesterday. It was dry and inedible. My shrimp came back blistering hot and they were good but nothing out f the ordinary. The staff were kind enough to take the pork off the bill but at the end of the day we were both very disappointed. The food needs work.
His restaurant had fabulous food, high quality, plated with perfection. The price was great (especially if you are from the US). We had a great bottle of wine, the crab cake appetizer, the chowder, the braised short ribs, and the sea bass. Our total bill was around $80, in the US, we would have easily paid double.
On two prior occasions, in the Spring of 2016 - we experienced excellent service, food + presentation - expensive for Maz but worth it.
Not the case on the last visit. On the day after Christmas we went with another couple and had poor service and so-so food. This is a pricey restaurant that does not allow shorts/sandals/children. At half the price the food/service may be acceptable.
Service - We were placed at the centre of the upper balcony with a great view of the Plaza (especially with the Xmas lights.)
Staff was concentrated at either end with no one having time to deal with us in the centre. No one spoke to us for over 30 minutes until I went to ask if anyone was going to give us a menu or take a drink order.
We ordered the "46" cocktail with tequila/Gran Marnier and French Champagne - seemed heavier than in the past two times and I suspect the bartender may not have used the brand names advertised or was short on the bubbly or the bubbly was from the night before and was flat/boring.
Food: cooking in Mazatlan often involves the overuse of salt. Not so in Casa 46 - unfortunately, this time, their "go to" spice was sugar.
Roasted Octopus -tasty and nicely cooked, no complaints.
Crab Chilorio - OK but too sweet.
Corn chowder - Good. You could taste corn but the predominant spice was sugar.
Beef Tenderloin - good sized pc of meat nicely cooked on a puree bed (supposed to be fennel) but the predominant spice was sugar. The marrow was the size of my thumbnail and did not look like it came out of a bone such as the one they used in the photo.
Chicken breast on puree - they gave a large breast but it was slightly dry. It was sitting on a puree where the predominant spice was sugar with one small piece of broccoli on the side.
PS the food photos on the site are misleading.
I love Casa 46. I was very happy to be seated outside on the balcony overlooking Plaza Machado. the plaza was lit up and decorated for Christmas. It was lovely, just lovely. The restaurant building is charming with some vintage and some modern spaces. The food!! oh the food is great. We tried 4 items, not a single one disappointed us. My husband and I had the best time and one of the nicest meals ever. If you don't go there, you'll be sorry. We had great servers, and, best for me, most of them spoke English very well.
Its our second time eating at Casa 46 and we will definitely be back, when you go to this restaurant you have to be open to a different dining experience, its not the taco place around the corner. My wife and I had our 8 and 6 year olds join us and they loved the pasta dish. Food is delicious and presentation is immaculate. Recommended to anyone who wants to be treated to something different than anything else you will find in Mazatlán.
Expensive and very mediocre food. Small quantities combined with terrible service. Beautiful balcony but ineffective fans so too hot, inside has an odd mix of decorations / furnishing to look modern and chic. It doesn't work and the music is way too loud. Octopus was bland, suckling pork must have been obese at birth based on the amount of fat. Was not well prepared. Also made no accommodation whatsoever for children, when challenged the manager said we should have been told not to go their. Don't waste your money on this place
This restaurant was perfect for a special occasion. The four of us all had different starters, main courses and desserts and each one was delightfully presented as well as absolutely delicious. We had chosen to sit out on the terrace overlooking the Plaza Machado and this added to the ambiance of the evening. The service was excellent and the waiters helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our dining experience so much that we returned 5 days later before leaving Mazatlan for a similar experience.
Wonderful second floor spacious balcony setting overlooking the picturesque square. Fine food, good service and plenty of ambiance. Avoid their "specialty" drinks (mojitos, margaritas) as they are way overpriced -- much more than most of the entrees.
We live here in Mazatlan and this was our first visit to Casa 46. Great location, good decor, good service, Hoes d'Oeuvers portions were so small they were almost laughable. Very limited menu selections. Nice wine glasses with the smallest pour I have ever seen. The main course was good. The lighting was so I could not see the bill clearly and it was not until I returned home that I saw they double charged me for my noddle entree. Can honestly say we will not be going back nor will we be recommending Casa 46 to any of our friends or guest.
Arrived at 7:30pm. Escorted to inside table when we reserved a outside. Moved with some resistance. Ordered two entrées, both we out. Super expensive wine list. Bill for 4, 6,500 pesos. Loud, competing music in the plaza. Meal good but not what I wanted from the menu. No to go packaging, only foil. Not at all what we expected. We will try once more.
We went o Casa 46 last week on Wednesday evening after discovering it on Open Table. As the open air cabbie dropped us off, we were lead upstairs by the gracious Relaciones Publicas, Jazmin. As we were seated at a table overlooking a beautiful street courtyard, I visibly gasped at how pretty it was.
The service was impeccable, the food delicious, creative and sophisticated. We ended up selecting a 2012 Tempranillo/Cabernet blend that had been made for Casa 46. We tried the sauvignon blanc as well as the chardonnay and they were equally as good. The chard had a spicy character with a medium finish. The tempranillo with its smooth feel suited my rib eye perfectly. I had a tomato confit as my salad course and it was scrumptious. My husband had octopus appetizer, which he stated was most likely the best preparation of this he ever had. It was followed by a delicious shrimp main course. Our daughter had the short ribs which she thoroughly enjoyed. We met the manger, Luis Parra who was as knowledgeable as he was kind.
Overall it was a delight of a find in Mazatlán. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who understands and enjoys good food and wine at a reasonable price-point. I would say that Casa 46 should be rated the best restaurant in Mazatlán.
