My husband and I enjoyed the experience this restaurant offered. They made the caesar salad right at our table which was so fun. The steak was incredible! The blue crab chowder was delicious! And the chocolate cake dessert melted in your mouth! Samuel took great care of us!
Very nice dinner with family. Food was very good and service was good. I eat gluten free and they were able to accommodate my needs. The restaurant has very nice eye appeal, rich dark woods and dimmed lighting. Perfect for a good wine y steak meal!
I admit that we were a little disappointed that they did not have the fish my husband ordered from the menu, or the bottle of wine we ordered. They were great to substitute a great wine for us. The food was delicious and the wait staff was excellent. I recommend you go to the restaurant when visiting the area.
We took advantage of the breakfast buffet several times while vacationing in Cancun, as well as one dinner. The buffet was absolutely excellent. The foods offered really were suitable for all tastes, domestic and international. The service was equally as good. Would highly recommend the breakfast buffet
We have been coming to the CasaMagna for years. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet over the years. This is the first time having dinner at the steakhouse. Food was top notch. Filet and lobster tail was fresh and cooked as ordered. We will return.
My wife and I have traveled fairly extensively, both within the United States, as well as internationally, and have dined hundreds of restaurants, but we experienced something while dining at La Capilla Argentina Steakhouse that we had never seen before!
While the food and service were both very good, we were appalled that the employees allowed a guest to dine in the restaurant in his bathrobe and slippers! Yes, that’s correct, in his terry cloth bathrobe and slippers! While the dress code for the restaurant was listed as casual, I think that management should have insisted that the guest comply with the dress code and insist that he wear at minimum, shorts and a shirt with casual footwear.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food and service were overshadowed by a guest who thought it was permissible to dine like you might at home in front of the television on a Saturday morning!
Disappointing dinner considering how well it was rated. Started with a barely acceptable margherita. Then came the Caesar salad, prepared table side which had no flavor to it. The side dishes that accompanied the entrees were cold and had to be sent back. That was after waiting for the waiter to reappear so that I could bring it to his attention. A server brought the entrees to the table and no one came to ask whether everything was to our liking, so we had to sit and wait.
Dessert wasn't even discussed as we were ready to leave after finishing our entrees once the side dishes were again served.
We visited during our vacation in Cancun at the Marriott Casa Magna. We were in the mood for steak and this restaurant didn't disappoint.The steaks were cooked to our liking and we're so large that we had to ask for doggie bags to take to our room. Yes, we ate the leftovers the next morning. The waitstaff were all so courteous and friendly. We had a small issue with ants crawling on the first table we sat at. Don't know where the ants were coming from,but since the table was near a window leading to the outside, I suppose there was a nest near the window. We asked to be moved and we were moved. No problem. ..but that ant problem should be addressed. Otherwise, a very nice meal was had by all.
The room is large, high ceilinged and dramatic, but they keep the lighting down so it feels comfortable. The T-Bone was beautifully prepared and extremely flavorful. Server Leonardo was personable and attentive. The Caesar Salad is a must have, prepared at the table and done properly. They use good ingredients across the board; just don't expect the steak to be a dry-aged prime. Good wine selection at reasonable prices; the Argentinian wines seem to be the best value. They had the tango dancers performing and they were a real treat. I do wish they didn't use serrated steak knives, as it's just not good form for a good steak house.
From the minute we entered the restaurant I knew we were in good hands. The hostess sat us almost immediately and asked if we were familiar or dined there before. After getting to our table the A++ device began. The team of people were fast and efficient. As the night grew longer the restaurant began filling up and the staff just kept in stride. Our food order was fast about 10 minutes from the time we ordered. The only issue was getting a fast check out. It took some time to get the final bill closed out.
Good food, fair price and great service. You can't go wrong here.
We arrived at 6:30 PM and were seated promptly. Luis was our waiter and was friendly, but clearly has a hard time with the English language. Not a big deal. We ordered a round of appetizers; parents ordered calamari and my mom specifically asked for aioli rather than the tomato sauce. Calamari came out with a pomodoro sauce. When she asked again for aioli, one of the assistants said "I'll get Luis" - then Luis came over with oil and vinegar? After three minutes of discussion of what an aioli was, it came out. Additionally, I had to take a waiter up to the salad bar and ask if they could replace the depleted salad - the restaurant was full - the busiest we have seen it ever. The salad bar was picked over. This is the only thing I ordered and at $310.00 pesos this salad bar should be in great shape the entire night. Finally after 10 minutes they replenished the items. My husband ordered shrimp cocktail and it came out warm.
Dinner was ordered around 6:45 - my parents ordered the veal short ribs for two (a restaurant specialty item). Cut to 7:30 PM, Luis comes to our table and with no apology says "there is no more short ribs" and basically shoves a menu into my fathers lap. Almost an hour into service and you come to tell us that you're out of short ribs right when our meals should be served? Parents re-ordered; dinner was then served 15 minutes later. Every meal had an issue: Short Ribs (for one) was dry, too salty and tough; mom's White Wine Linguini had zero white wine sauce and instead came with a tomato type of sauce and she hates tomato (another score)... Creamed spinach for my dad was overly salty - the creamed spinach my husband ordered was not. The spinach itself was served in some type of soupy sauce and it wasn't your typical creamed spinach dish. My husbands surf and turf was severely dried out and overcooked.
Andy (manager) came to our table and and comped our entire meal. He was very apologetic and was sincere in his comments.
We went the day of Christmas eve and the decoration was beautiful. That was it. I was expecting good Argentina Steak but it was buffet and not many selections. The food was not any impressive and the price was too high for the value of food. We may paid for the environment.
We were in Cancun and made a reservation for our anniversary. We were not disappointed. They prepared Caesar salad tableside and it was delicious. Our steaks were prepared exactly to our specifications. The ambience is quiet and perfect for a date night or special occasion. The restaurant also offers a daily breakfast buffet with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables, and standard breakfast fare. The homemade pastries were a pleasant surprise, and so many choices! We will definitely return when we revisit Cancun.
The food was AMAZING, ambiance was awesome and it was fairly priced. Only bummer was that they did not have an elevator and being that I was Ina. Wheelchair because of a broken foot, had to use the Marriott elevator to get to the S level which took forever because only one elevator was working. No biggie though!
Possibly the best meal I've had my entire life! Everything exceeded our expectations. We had the filet, lamb chops, salmon and sea bass. All amazing. The bread and chimichurri sauce was to die for. Carpaccio was Delish! Desserts, out if this world!! Service was outstanding! Don't miss this place while you're in Cancun.
LaCapilla is a two fazed restaurant in the CasaMagna resort in Cancun. It is the breakfast restaurant for the resort...which is outstanding...the buffett is awesome. For dinner it turns into an upscale steakhouse. Two years ago when I visited the food for dinner was very good. This year it was just good. The food came out very salty this year...almost choking salt. I don't know why but the chef really has a salty hand. We visited twice the second time we asked the waiter for no salt on the steak and it was much better
