    While the restaurant is gorgeous, it seems they have put all their effort into the atmosphere rather than the food. I really wanted to love this place, but felt it fell short of its promise. We were intrigued by their claim to be a Thai-Mexican inspired menu, however when we asked our waiter to recommend such dishes, he easily pointed out the Pad Thai and a few other items with Asian ingredients. Things like the tuna avocado roll with watermelon visually had the look of a sushi roll (which would be Japanese) he didn’t appear to be very well informed about the menu. (The roll, by the way, was very nicely prepared and refreshingly delicious.) There were a smattering of other dishes with “Asian” ingredients in the description, but overall, the menu didn’t have much evidence of a Thai influence. My first concern was with my impression of the lemongrass, cucumber mezcal cocktail. A flat and smoky cucumber drink lacking any real vibrance of lemongrass. The soft shell crab tacos were nicely executed, and the red snapper with risotto was delicious. We ordered the second fish dish, which had a beautiful presentation of vegetables, but was unfortunately ruined with dry, overcooked fish and lackluster sauce. The manager kindly apologized for the error and took care of it on the bill. We finished the meal with the Pavlova and berries - crunchy, creamy and lovely. Over-all, my comment is our evening had its ups and downs. The chef could re-evaluate his menu, because defining it as Thai-inspired misses the mark by a long shot.

    The food was good (octopus salad) and the cocktail La Ruta was delicious. They serve you bread as an apetizer and it was very tasty! On top of that, I was eating in the patio, and it got very romantic (or very dark) because there was a general electricity failure while I was having dinner...

    Literally the worst dining experience we can remember. Arrived at 7. Place was 90% empty. Seated at a table in the courtyard which could be lovely but felt like a food court. Cheap, wobbly table. Wife and kids are GF, but 95% of menu has gluten. I’m not GF, but my orders (Pad Thai was my first choice, can’t remember what my second choice was) “not available”. So I ordered a couple appetizers. Waiter returns to say THESE are not available either! So then he thinks he can get Pad Thai from the Spice Market (sister restaurant in same hotel?) and they can make it GF, so I’m happy as is my daughter who wanted GF Pad Thai in the first place. Appetizers come, Tom Yum soup and a ceviche, they are okay but not great. Cocktails were good. My son gets his entre at about 9, and we’re anticipating our meal… nothing. Meanwhile, pretty much everybody else had left, and then at 9:30 our waiter comes out with four desserts that we hadn’t ordered. We ask where was the Pad Thai and he said “didn’t the manager explain to you it wasn’t coming?” Which he hadn’t. Against my better judgment, we paid the bill (about $150 USD) got a cab and left. Cannot warn people off of this place strenuously enough.

    We had a nice dinner, and excellent service from Christian. My wife is gluten-free, and her needs were readily accommodated, including bringing chips and salsa since she couldn't eat their yummy bread. I had the shrimp pad thai as a main course (3 stars, creative, yet a bit too many flavors), and a wonderful lettuce and goat salad beforehand (4 stars). My wife had the Tom Yam Soup, made gluten-free, which she somewhat enjoyed (3 stars), and then Shrimp Tacos (3 stars), which was too cheesy for her taste. The ambiance is "energetic," with a young, hip vibe. Pricey, which makes sense, since it's in the posh hotel Live Aqua.
