The sushi was absolutely terrible. Very poor quality fish. I even complained about one of my rolls which was so bad I couldn’t eat it and they didn’t seem to care and left it on the bill.
Sushi is comparable to sushi shop! Terrible.
Other dishes are not to bad
We had an amazing girls birthday lunch! The food and desserts were just to good to be true! Thank you
I remembered the food of the first two times was way better. But still a pleasant experience. However, there were not enough staffs to attend guests.
We had an amazing 5 Star dinner - loved it
Wow’ what a Japanese experience. Every dish felt special. In taste, presentation and uniqueness. Fabulous
Their menu is not a typical sushi menu but it is great. Tell them what you are looking for and they are also very happy to accommodate. Great place!
Is my 4th time, I used to love the island with smoke but this time same menu and price but no smoke at all, disappointed. Slow service.
As a seasoned Sushi lover I had some trepidation about the ‘Italian influences’ of Yashin but frankly, it works. Although expensive, the informal style of service is both refreshing and authentic, letting the diner work their way around the menu based on what they like the look of at any given time. A broader sake selection could be introduced in my view but the choices on offer were good, if a little unadventurous. All in all a different approach to Japanese cuisine well executed.
We had a sunday lunch with the family which was a buffet with a main. Normally I am not a fan of buffets, but the japanse buffet with sushi, sashimi and some warm fried dishes looked amazing. The staff was generous with the champagne and the restaurant was buzzing. Really recommend it.
Great service and quality food. Would definitely recommend the carpaccio dishes. We ordered the salmon, tuna and yellowtail carpaccio, they tasted amazing. Would love to go back to try the tasting menu.
I can’t believe how bad the service was!
The sushi and sashimi was absolutely delicious. My main request is that you do an alcohol-free bottomless brunch - none of us were drinking anything but soft drinks, making the £70 per head bill a bit steep.
Had dinner with my husband and our parents, and the food was amazing. Had looked at reviews before and also the menu to check prices, and it seemed reasonable. The food was really good and decent price, a bit pricy for the amount you got maybe. But the big surprise was the wine - there were no bottles under £57! We only wanted a house white, but that was also £58 or something. We were not too happy about that, being used to eating out in London and not having to pay that much for wine. Staff were very nice though, and they remembered my booking note that it was my mum’s birthday so had a little candle and sang Happy Birthday for her. It’s a nice place, but more pricey than it seemed on the menu. So - I recommend this place, but bring a credit card :)
Amazing food as always :)
Some of the sushi oh toro with truffle was mind blowing
All good will go again
open kitchen and quite crowded so was bit noisy
Although this was a very pricey meal and the portions are tiny, it is still worth it for the quality of food and cocktails.
One of the best places in London to eat sushi. Excellent wine list. Polished service. Amazing puddings.
Great service and amazing food. My glass was never empty and the food was so fresh!
Amazing food and drinks, great service really enjoyed having my birthday dinner there! The best Japanese food I have had in London!
Interior design questionable. Only few tab les for confidential conversations which is bad for that price level. Food exquisite and innovative. Wine super quality. Location top.
This restaurant is just sadly not very good. The food quite frankly was very disappointing, especially the seafood - despite the restaurant supposedly specialising in seafood. The most decent dishes were probably the lamb and pork. But the seafood was not good (we had the cod, eel/avocado sushi, cobia).
The presentation was nice and fancy but it just wasn't very good and the portions are quite small. In fact there was hardly even any eel in the eel sushi, mostly rice/vegetables and a distracting jelly. As such, the place felt completely overpriced, and I was teased quite a bit for choosing the place.
The staff are very nice though. I feel more bad for them that the food isn't better. There were hardly any people there (tho we did have an early 6pm table on a Sunday), so it also felt a bit depressing as it's quite a large space that looks like it should be some kind of big buzzing bar atmosphere.
I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but just putting this up as it really was quite expensive, and I would rather not see people have their money wasted. But again the staff and service were excellent so I wish them the best.
I love this place.
The sommelier is very knowledgable and keeps everything together. He is the glue of the restaurant.
Hats off to him!
The staff during weekends are more on top of things than the team I met last night. But what am I complaining about? The food is fresh, boiled down to the basics of sushi. The grills are a delight.
Wine pairing is very good value for a oenological trip across the world.
Love and will continue coming back.
Good for dates, business meals.
Expensive for what it is
Perfect as always....though I wish the waitstaff did not hover....they need to be more sensitive to clients...some may like it, others not. They also try to get you to order things you haven't asked for.
Excellent food , service and atmosphere.
I go to this place for business dinners, friends gathering and family brunch. My favourite restaurant in Kensington.
My favourite sushi in London. Absolutely delicious!
Spectacular japanese experience. Dining at the country is strongly recommended.
All courses in the menu were perfect, and the service was excellent. Also, great Sake selection.
The manager was not treating us very nicely and they forgot to make one of our main dish; the omakase sushi. So it took us 2hours for the whole meal sitting at the counter.
Excellent food. Lovey service. Fairly priced for this neighbourhood.
My only possibly criticism would be the brevity of the sushi menu, but that could well be intentional to keep the kitchen more efficient.
Overall excellent, will certainly be back.
Yashin Ocean House was a lovely dining experience. Space was terrific for a London restaurant as opposed to their other venue which was claustrophobic. Attentive staff and nice menu. However, if they are no longer serving the "head to tail" seabreem it should be taken off the menu.
the offering is eclectic japanese. however, it is very highly priced!! Suggest they lower prices and the place will be more filled!!
Amazing chef, delicious freshest food and surprising flavors ! Loving it
Co-owner / headchef Shinya has magical way of producing amazing, delicate, delicious dishes. I could eat out in their terrace area, weather permitting, with my little dog also.
Shame I couldn’t afford to eat here every day, but definitely my favorite restaurant in London.
Best Japanse food. Especially because of their No Soya sauce policy you can taste the real quality. Health and delicious food. And the Japanse wine grace is also a favourite. I very much recommand this place. Aswell as the yashin restaurant in Kensington.
The sashimi is not very fresh and severed with salmon, which is not a properly dish in a authentic Japanese restaurant. Sukiyaki is not quite valuable, which just has few little pieces of wagyu beef and spring onions. However, the miso soup and tempura is amazing .
Incredibly awful service, from arrival to departure. The first time in 25years I have asked them to remove the service charge!
50 minutes to order a drink in a half empty restaurant
Great food, very chilled restaurant, would recommend.
Dining at Yashin Ocean House is always a wonderful experience both for the quality of food and for the lovely atmosphere. I suggest to try the Chef's nighiri selection and the delicious carpaccios.
