Food excellent but very noisy. So hard to find restuarants that keep music low so XYST isn’t different then most. At least food is delicious with generous portions!
The service at XYST is phenomenal from the bartender to the host to the wait staff, and the food is even better. Love!
Awesome place. Save room for dessert!
So far the best vegan place I've found. My non-vegan friend loved the food as well. Not the best A/C, so don't expect it to be very cool on a hot summer day.
I absolutely loved XYST. I cannot wait to come back, and see Matthew Kenney's other restaurants. The entire menu is art! So creative and delicious.
Simply put, it was fabulous! I’m not a vegan, but could be if I could eat like this everyday.
I would have to say that our dinner at XYST was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was scrumptious, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere delightful.
Great food and service.
This was our first time having brunch here, after loving the dinner menu.
The rosewater pancakes were delicious. The iced almond cappuccino was also great. The Florentine was disappointing. The hollandaise sauce tasted like a lemony, sweet mustard, the tofu was extremely bland, and the bread underneath was so tough I could hardly cut through it. I ended up eating the two sides we ordered instead -- cauliflower and potatoes, which were good.
That said, the service here is always impeccable. Our waitress was warm, professional and attentive.
We will definitely be back to try the other menu items!
I was having a reunion with my cousins, both of whom are vegetarians. I wanted to try this restaurant out as my trainer is vegan and recommended trying one of Matthew Kenney's restaurants while in NY. Specifically, Double Zero, but I was staying near XYST so went there. We couldn't get a reservation until 9:30 but were there at 8:30. They had a table outside, and even though it was a super hot night, we took it. We started with the cashew halloumi and kale salad, both of which were really good. The dukkah avocado I thought was one note and needed depth, some acid or heat. The beet manti was delicious as was the cast iron socca. The falafel was just okay, really dry and nothing special (if you want rocking falafel, go to Taim!!) . We loved the mushrooms and the cauliflower. There were four of us and we were definitely full by the end. I liked how they didn't push us and coursed the meal--it was late so there was no wait for a table. Next time, I think we would have better ambience inside as the patio feels like an after thought with 3-4 tables and no decor. Overall, the meal was amazing AND vegan. I would go back for sure.
Great Customer Service, Delicious food. Can’t wait to come back.
Delicious and creative plant-based food. Love to share it all with others. Love the ambiance of this place and fantastic service. Would return very soon!!
Nice, dressed-down chic atmosphere. Service was attentive yet unobtrusive. Manager kindly provided a free dessert for the birthday girl. Food was creative and delicious. Halloumi cheese was a curious interpretation with lots of vinegar flavors but quite good. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Amazing food and service
This was possibly the worst, most disappointing dining experience I've ever had. The food was awful. Not one dish of the five we ordered was authentic nor did any have flavor or the right texture. It's as if the chefs had never even seen or tasted the dishes they were serving, but simply threw together something they thought might be similar to the real thing. The room was hot and loud, the hostess rude, the food incredibly overpriced for the extremely poor quality. So sad I spent my birthday dinner here.
I have eaten at many Vegetatian and Vegan restaurants. This Tapas style restaurant served delicious food. My favorite was the cauliflower.
Great food, high quality, very friendly service, cozy atmosphere. A little pricey but it’s ok for the quality of the food you get. Great for a special night out.
Excellent vegetarian/vegan food... nice atmosphere, one of a kind place that feel authentic, attentive service and agreeable to letting us linger.. interesting combinations of ingredients.. creative chef..
A truly fabulous menu .... The vegetable dishes are the best ... Bring a few people and do a tasting tapas style
Food is fantastic -- brunch and dinner. Good wines too.
The service, food, and ambiance of XYST was spectacular. I enjoyed my experience at this gem. We got smoked hummus, beet manti, and the socca, all of which were really tasty, fresh, and beautiful. The service was impeccable and the vibes were cozy and cute. I would recommend this place to both vegetarians and also non-vegetarians out there. It's a great eatery with creative and flavorful dishes.
Came for a girlfriend get together. Plan was to sit in the back but we liked the open air in the front and sat at the bar. Bartender Lucas was also friendly and fantastic at coming up with drinks. The food was interesting and delicious. Standouts were the avocado and kale salad. I can’t wait to go back.
I chose XYST to meet the needs of my dinner companion. The meal was so delicious, filling, and creative, that I would go back on my own!
Absolutely Delicious Healthy Dining and very reasonably priced. Totally recommend the homemade cheese appetizer! The Eggplant was Exceptional :)
Amazing vegan food. A bit too oily. I can't wait to come back to NY and eat there again.
An attractive space - much distressed wood on walls and floor - with a 'country' feel. Despite all the wood, the restaurant was LOUD. Difficult to speak and hear through the din. The waiter we had was on top of everything, refilling water, taking orders, making sure empty plates were taken away quickly, etc... The latter extremely important with the tables being so small and the menu lending itself to sharing several dishes at once. I would recommend it to vegans with the proviso that conversation will be secondary to food. All the dishes we had, save one (a mushroom dish) were very tasty, including the desserts. which is a surprise for a vegan restaurant.
Beautiful food clearly made with care! Three of us shared five of the small MEZE plates and it was perfect! Gorgeous presentation and lots of flavor, I recommend 100%
Delicious nutrient rich food. Not heavy like many vegan restuarants that use a lot of nuts. Generous portions. Organic! Excellent service! Highly recommend.
Very good, we ordered 2 app and one veggie (larger dish) and it was perfect for the 2.of.us. the carrots which were so good, falafel and the eggplant larger dish which was my favorite. Excellent food and our service was very good
Only wished the service matched up to the quality of food served. Super hopeful of this place as a vegan/veggie/foodie. Definitely order the Beet Manti - best dish of the night. However, don’t expect any level of service here. Very disappointed. Maybe we’re spoiled in Bay Area, CA.
REALLY DELICIOIUS AND CREATIVE. ATMOSPHERE WAS GREAT TOO. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ORGANIC VEGETABLES AS WELL. AND SERVICE COULD BE IMPROVED, BUT NOTHING TERRIBLE...
Excellent food! Great staff and atmosphere. Feels warm and inviting inside. We ordered several dishes to sample the menu - there is a strong attention to detail in the execution of the food. The only negative comment is that the grilled eggplant was slight over-charred but the staff noted the critique and advised they would revisit the dish.
Definitely some of the best vegan food we've tried and absolutely worth a visit when you're in the city.
An absolute dining delight.
This has been the most delicious food I ever had at a restaurant, and I've been to a few.
Hands down ridiculous flavors. The chef really outdid anyone else cooking.
The decor of the place is perfect. Very cute and even has a balcony/backyard seating.
Service was fantastic and the waitress was very informative and professional.
This is the place guys. This is the place.
FOOOOD WAS SOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! 10/10.
Yummmmm!! We had a really great dinner here! We sat out back, which was a bit small, but a great option for al fresco dining on a warm NYC night. The truffle cheese spread crostini we’re AMAZING! We ended up ordering 2 of them! We all loved the cashew halloumi served warm in a cast iron skillet and the grilled eggplant was delish too. Our other favorite dishes were the roasted carrots (simple and perfect) and beet manti which are like dumplings. The dessert menu didn’t wow us so we skipped it, but am really looking forward to coming back here again! Awesome plant based Whole Foods! Oh also the cocktails hit the spot!
Amazing ambiance with amazing food. Hands down, one of the best vegan restaurants in NYC. Amazing cocktails with delicious deserts.
Beautiful space, great service and the food is good but expensive. I wasn’t blown away by it/didn’t feel the prices warranted the food. I liked it, just wasn’t blown away.
Really enjoyed the meal. Great spot for a date.
Xyst is one of the best things to happen in NYC in years. The menu is inventive, the for is always great and the service is spot on. As a vegan, it is a real treat to be able to go into a restaurant and order anything on the menu. Our non-vegan friends who have joined us at Xyst always leave happy as well.
A terrific restaurant. Inventive sophisticated vegan food served with no attitude, and lots of charm. Good bar, adequate wine list (fairly priced), and quiet enough to have grown-up conversations. What a pleasure!
We were very early so the restaurant only began to fill up after we arrived. While we do ear fish this was a vegetarian meal and each dish was flavored very well.
