Very enjoyable Sunday evening spent with my wife eating some lovely food must recommend the duck breast with beetroot delicious , service also good waiter very attentive, nice surroundings.
Very fine food...wine isn't cheap but lunchtime menu is good value overall.
We were really excited about coming here. My partner is a real foodie and a great cook herself and this was me treating her to a top night out.
The ambiance in Wreckfish was perfect for us: just the right balance of friendly/informal/professional, and the smell from the kitchen was wonderful. Chris, our waiter, was lovely. We ordered cocktails -Wreckfizz for her, Ginger Bramble for me. Both delicious.
For starters my partner had Sea Bass, which she enjoyed except that it was overpowered by Nigella seeds. I had the cauliflower risotto, which although undeniably tasty was again overpowered by the spices so that I couldn't actually taste the cauliflower at all; which is why I ordered it.
For mains I ordered Lamb rump with confit butternut squash while she had the duck with crapaudine beetroot. We also ordered truffle fries and hispi cabbage. The lamb came nicely pink but a little chewy, with a tasty jus and a huge dollop of black garlic emulsion that again overpowered everything else on the plate. The squash was slightly fibrous and a little bland. The duck was slightly over and the beetroot slightly over pickled, although the croquette was delicious. The chips were amazing, but we both felt the cabbage was spoilt by the 'nduja butter. Pudding was our favourite, both the doughnut and the tonka brulee were knockout.
Over all the standard was definitely above average but sadly not as good as we were hoping for given the exciting menu and the price. It's a shame that the big sauces overwhelmed the great flavours of the main ingredients instead of enhancing them. With a bottle of wine, some fizzy water, and a tip, the bill came to £160. Good but not great.
First time at Wreckfish and we will certainly be returning. The food was so flavoursome with the truffle and Parmesan chips to die for. We were overwhelmed by the variety of wine we could choose from but our waiter very kindly helped us out with that. Amazing food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
great venue with very nice food great flavours a real treat enjoyed by all
Fabulous food lovely staff
This is my second visit to Wreckfish and I introduced my friend. We both had the Xmas lunch menu and everything was cooked to perfection. I'm going again on the 19th December with more friends - would definitely recommend it!!
Met friends for an early Christmas get together. First time any of us have been and won't be the last! Casual, elegant dining. £28 for set three course meal. Go on their website...too much choice to write here! All beautifully cooked and presented. House wine, white and red...a little on the dear side at 24 a bottle but it was nice. Lovely staff, attentive without being in your face. Go, honestly you won't be disappointed xx
Quite simply we wanted an exceptional venue, exceptional menu and exceptional quality, so for us , seeing as we had only just got married 2 hours beforehand , it had to be the wreckfish . It was without doubt just superb !!! Guys, thanks so much . Oh and I can't go without saying that the pear desert was truly awesome!!!
WreckFish was a lovely venue for a late lunch. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere and a great value Christmas menu. Christmas menu's can be very hot and miss, but this was lovely. The After Eight dessert is an absolute highlight!
We've eaten here a couple of times before. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, great menu and the staff were really attentive. We were celebrating our elder son's masters graduation and the congrats fudge was really appreciated.
Outstanding as always. We had a celiac with us and the waiter was able to provide an adapted menu for her which was served by her own chef. Excellent. Another great experience.
I loved some of it but felt like the staff were quite snobby and overboard except one I don’t know his name ( pity ) food was delicious but a tad overpriced for what it was , I appreciate the freshness and quality but tbh nothing special sorry
Great service and food is amazing! It's a must to visit this place!!
Superb for our daughters graduation a gem in Liverpool’s Crown
Stephen and Joanne
The braised featherblade was excellent, it just melted in the mouth; not so sure about the beetroot puree which, whilst contributing to the flavours, was a bit too smooth for my taste.
Overall a lovely meal with very good service.
Lovely place, friendly knowledgeable staff that clearly care about what they do.
We enjoyed a lovely lunchtime meal. Dye to cold weather it was a little cold when door opened but we always enjoy meals at Wreckfish.
Great brunch - every part of plate tasted outstanding - surprised it wasn't busier - I'd go again
Service was prompt. Engaging staff . My only comment in a slightly negative vein is that the noise levels interferes with the ability to have a conversation at times .
Fantastic food, ambience and wine.
Went to wreck fish with my mum and I. Both foodies and myself a chef of 10 years, the Food was amazing Particularly the duck hearts, they were so soft and delicate with a buttery richness. The black garlic emulsion was also a really interesting addition to the lamb main dish, the pork dish was to a very high standard and very enjoyable but I did not feel the sweetness of the apple was balanced into the dish well enough, this is probably preference. Fantastic night incredibly enjoyable and the food was a delight.
Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this restaurant
Fantastic food, wine and service. Would highly recommend
Fresh food and amazing flavours. Great venue and friendly service.
Food amazing and would not hesitate to return this must be 5th visit, a little disappointed this time with service, first time down stairs, standard of service not at the same level, maybe as we were sat at the rear of the restaurant. One to keep an eye on.
We were a group of friends meeting for lunch. The food was delicious but we found the lunchtime special menu to be quite limited so ordered from the maim menu which was far more expensive. The staff were very attentive and polite and we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you
Really glad we went, on a friends recommendation; can’t wait to go again
Visited 21/11/19 - Good place for a special meal. Food was generally good, however, on each of the three (different) main courses we ordered, the sauces were too salty. Service was generally good, Overall a good meal.
Went for lunch for a special occasion, had booked well in advance. Arrived ten minutes early, top floor was half full but still we were ushered downstairs to a table in what transpired to be a floor that would be empty apart from ourselves while we were there. Food was excellent and staff very attentive. Part way through our meal the fire alarm started going off - I went upstairs and to check this was being sorted. The alarm went on and off for about 15 minutes. Shortly afterwards an electrician arrived and needed access to panels next to where we were seated. On departure the upper floor was still half empty so rather mystified as to why we couldn't be seated upstairs. This is my third visit and always end up on the lower floor - often not so bad if busy. Previously I've asked to be seated upstairs and even referenced my wife's severe sight impairment but this has made no difference. So I don't know what it takes to get a table upstairs. Although the food and staff are great this experience will probably make me go elsewhere in future.
Beautiful menu and fabulous value on the early evening menu. Highly recommend.
Food was excellent. Service was second to none. Definitely recommend.
As always service was professional and friendly. Especially when asking about various options and asking for recommendation. Food was excellent. This is my favourite restaurant when I want a Sunday roast its simply the best in my opinion.
Friendly staff lovely food and will definitely return
overall a good experience, but food was only average, felt a little disappointed. Staff pleasant and attentive. but probably won't be going back .
Worst thing was the toilets not particularly clean and although 2 ladies and 1 gents , a shared washroom , people used any toilet that was vacant , not expected in a restaurant rated highly .
Both food and service brilliant and excellent value for money.
Excellent experience as always, the best place to dine in Liverpool
The food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was brilliant. The staff were warm and very friendly and I would definitely recommend to others. Thank you for a lovely evening
We dined here early on a Friday evening so the tables were all still filling up hence the slightly lower score for ambience. This said the food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. We will definitely return.
Amazing food, lovely staff and really relaxed ambiance. Bit on the more expensive side compared to similar in that part of town but would choose here for a special meal or night out because of value and quality of food.
Truly feast for the taste buds
Old fashion classics modernised into a sensational flavoursome concoction of loveliness.
Attentive and relaxed service complemented the up beat original urban interior.
Informal and cool place.
Chef came and said hi and made it even more welcoming.
Deserves all the praise it can get.
Must have -Truffle and parmisan fries xxx
Loved it.
