Vitea Oceanfront Bistro
We were four of us this time. It is important to say that over the years the Vitea has been consistently good and fun.
This time the bisque was excellent and was the large missed salad. Their signature grilled veggie sandwich is as good as ever and the gazpacho wasn't to be sneezed at?
But what on the good Earth happened to the Frutti di Mare pasta? Where were the frutti?! Even the pasta was overcooked and the seafood was hard to locate.
C'mon Vitea, tell us this was just one of those off days!!!
We still like the place a lot and will always be bact.
We arrived on a Wednesday night at a time that was not busy. We ordered the shrimp bisque which was delicious then sat for 45 minutes waiting for our Caesar salad. It was finally served at the same time as the chicken Parmesan we ordered but we sent it back so we could eat our main course. Chicken Parmesan was dry and difficult to cut. We have eaten here dozens of times throughout the years. They offered free wine and dessert which we refused. The server and manager apologized and did not charge us for the chicken Parmesan or salad but none of that could make up for the disappointing experience. I had previous made reservations to go back this week but will probably not do so
Fabulous dinner with family! Thank you Ulf!

Antonio gave us super service and the food was excellent! Fun being right on the Malecón as I had requested
It probably isn’t fair to be critical about service during one of their busiest times of the year. One of our guests asked 3 times for hielo to go with his coke. Waiter brought all 4 of our salads, but the fourth one he kept and started walking around trying to figure out where it was supposed to go. Weird. I would eat there again, especially if there was some reason to be on the malecón anyway, but it probably wouldn’t be my first choice. I do have to say that their Three Course “dinner special” on the inside of the menu is a terrific value for under 500 pesos, and the wine we ordered was quite good.
Our Christmas dinner on our vaca in PV was not so good because of the terrible service. We literally waited 28 minutes to simply be asked for our drink order and twice he brought the wrong wine. We would reach out to other servers for assistance through tour the night. However the food was excellent. We chose to order of the menu versus the Xmas dinner special. Everything was simply delicious. shame that the server ignored us. After asking him 5 times for our check we finally had to get the hostess attention to obtain.
Good food. Value for money. Good atmosphere. Like it
Christmas Eve dinner. Great specials. The waiter was so busy, yet trying hard all night to be attentive. It was a very nice experience.
Antonio is the best server. Makes us go back every year
Delicious food and good service at Vitea on the Malecon. A bit more casual than sister restaurant Trio and people watching is always interesting. Chef/owner Ulf H. was there the night we dined and visited most tables. Love that some menu items are offered in both small and large portions. Roast pork was great, as was the mixed green and arugala salad. A couple of minor service slips during our visit but we will return
Great location on the Malecon - past the arches and the plaza. I had the gazpacho - really delicious, and then the roasted veggie quiche. The pasty was perfect, and it was perfectly cooked for a deep dish (about 3 inches high). The margaritas are good, and the service staff speak excellent English. For dessert I had the Swiss Tart with blackberries and strawberries, and given the robust flavors of everything else I tried, I had high expectations. Dessert was the only disappointment - it's more of a custard tart, with tiny pieces of fruit - I think I had one sliver of strawberry and one blackberry, and the crust was underdone. Still, I recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, a great view and a great value.
Superb preparations and sauces on both the meats and fish dishes. The special three course dinner offers lovely options and all generous portions with fabulous deserts. The rolls and artisanal breads with French butter reflect the quality of a fine kitchen and chef. Definitely high on our list of great meals in PV.
Very good service, warm atmosphere and delicious food. Especially good for families. Nice view of the ocean and great for people watching!
Went here for Thanksgiving, and it was prefect. I got fish, which was great, and my mother got turkey. I was also there during sunset, so it was perfect for watching the sunset.
Pretty good food but the service was lacking due to one waiter who would not pay attention to us when needed.
Frog legs and gazpacho were outstanding as were the pork medallions and snapper. Drinks were strong service was a little slow. Well worth the price. Will be back
The food is great. Portions are perhaps too generous. Service is also great. We visit each time we come to Puerto Vallarta.
Wow excelente comida, original y buen servicio. Algunos platillos no tan atractivos pero buen experimento. El cordero estuvo más allá de magnífico
Vitea is always one of our favorite restaurants whether we're meeting looking for a quiet date night, connecting with friends in town or have friends visiting from out of town. The food and service are consistently excellent and I especially love that they offer smaller portions on many of their entrees that are the perfect amount of food for me (but still generous sized servings). In addition to the great food and service, Vitea is also a "nice" restaurant, but extremely well priced. We can have a nice meal with a glass of wine and not break the bank. Their location on the Malecon is great for people watching and gorgeous sunsets over the Bay. Vitea is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Puerto Vallarta!
Wonderful meal. The presentation and the quality of the dishes were superb. Service was excellent and value was also well worth the trip. Best restaurant we have found in PV.
Have dinned here many times and the food and service are always excellent. Oceanfront with great view of the malecon and ocean
All five of us ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and the food was excellent. I also enjoy the quiches on their lunch menu. Food and service have always made Vitea one of my favorite PV restaurants.
One of the most consistent ,high quality dining experiences from the service to the food.
Far exceeded all expectations. Really good restaurant in tourist area of the Malecon. The cauliflower was great.
Food was good. I would avoid the steak but the Pork Tenderloin medallions were delicious. Fun spot for people watching. Lots of energy.
best shrimp bisque in puerto vallarta (or maybe anywhere i've been). we spend our winters in pv and eat here at least a few times. i like that they offer both a small and large portion size option for their entrees. moderate ly priced.
The dinner was delicious! My friend had a wonderful birthday dinner at Vitea
Hands down the best dinner meal we had in Puerto Vallarta this trips. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. Prices were phenomenal and food was even better
We had a wonderful evening at Vitea. We shared a squid appetizer then everyone had the red snapper. The meal was perfect. Service was excellent and the ambience was warm, friendly and relaxed. Perfect evening with friends. Highly recommend this restaurant. Great for people watching along the Malecon.
One of PVs best restaurants. Excellent food and service. You will not be disappointed in any selection you choose.
One of our favorite places in Puerto Vallarta. Great food with something for everyone. Service is excellent.
Met some friends for an impromptu dinner - Vitea was able to change our reservation from 4 to accommodate 8 at the last minute. The atmosphere was great - our server was awesome - and the food was outstanding, as always!
We loved our meal. Our service was excellent!
Always a place to go for good food and a fun place to "people watch". A very nice evening.
Valentine day and service was very slow. Food was good when it arrived.
Alejandro - our waiter - was exceptional. We went for Valentine's Day menu - we ordered each item - and they were all excellent. We look forward to our return visit.
It was a favorite, even last year...but seems to have gone downhill. Bad greasy food and bad service.
Location of the restaurant overlooks the bay and has a beautiful view of the bay. My wife and I went to dinner with friends. I had the chicken Parmesan and my wife had the same dish the food was excellent other people in our party were able to have half portions. That is part of their menu. The service was a little slow but efficient I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a nice meal at a nice location.
Reliably good. Great view. Love the olive rolls. Good place to watch sunset.
We have been to Vitea many times and it has always been a delight. Today we were able to share the experience with our son and his family. Lovely Sunday Brunch. I would have liked to see more vegetarian and vegan options.
