It was so good that I have chosen to come back for mother's day as i had a great meal and want to see if the carvery is as good as the set menu.
Didnt expect a set menu - very poor choice and small portions
Food was nice, had the 2-courses for £18. Would have been overpriced if we had paid full price though. Service was poor, not enough staff on for the full restaurant maybe? Bill was wrong in the first instance, having charged full price for everything. Wouldn’t rush back
First class food, excellent service. Front of house are always accommodating. Service always with a smile. Excellent place to eat.
A late afternoon / pre concerrt meal. It was the Sunday Carvery and the food was nice, although the potatoes and stuffing were a little little dry, probably due to them sitting on a 'buffet' line for a while, as it was not particularly busy.
Great, friendly service and good value for money for the set price.
Good food and exceptionally helpful and friendly staff
Food and atmosphere was great however person that managed our table could have come asked us how our meal was or if we wanted anymore drinks which they didn't do.
Prompt service, food good, reasonable value for money.
Long wait for each course. Main (steak) was over cooked and this, along with sides were cold to lukewarm.
Restaurant appeared understaffed but given our young waitress was so pleasant, we didn’t feel it appropriate to complain to her. Our bad but unlikely we’ll be making a return visit.
We did reply to Hotel request for feedback but response was a scripted, “we’ll use your feedback to improve things next time”.
Overall it was very good and good value for money
Friendly staff with some great food. Watch out for package deals a lot of the menu you are pre paying for requires a further payment to order. Ie, Valentine package 3 course meal and a cocktail, once seated you are given your valentines menu that has a starter a choice of two mains and a desert.. if you want the beef you have to pay an extra £5 per person.
Nice seating areas, try get a table near a window as the opposite end is the kitchen area and is very busy with people in and out. All in all, would give it a go but be careful your bill doesn’t start to add up to more than you were expecting.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. Food was good, we enjoyed it.
Food was really lovely would highly recommend and will be back
We came along for the Sunday carvery, was looking forward to it, but very disappointed. Starters were great, staff were lovely but the carvery really let it down, everything was of a very low temperature, particular lows were beef too tough to cut with knives provided, roast potatoes that were not crispy and Yorkshire puddings that we sent back as being cold and dried out, that came back 10 mins later, still cold and dried out, but of a slightly darker colour. The hot puddings, again not very hot and with lukewarm custard. The rest of the cold deserts were nice enough. I couldn’t honestly recommend this to other people and I wouldn’t want to go back myself.
We were not told the carvery finished a 4pm due to a set menu taking place of the carvery because strictly was on at the secc .
Lovely meal and the staff were very attentive. I enjoyed the chicken skewer and my husband enjoyed his burger. A little bit of a wait for our food but I don't mind when food is tasty and cooked to order, would happily come back again.
Burger was overcooked on the outside, under cooked inside. Sweet was tasty but lukewarm. Service good shame about the food
Service was terrible - wrong drinks and were given a set menu! Full menu not available which we weren’t told when booking! We get a discount as members of the gym and on this occasion we couldn’t use this because of a set menu!
We had a set menu due to a show at the Hydro. Fine. Should be quick.
It was incredibly slow.
After 20 minutes, we had to ask for our order to be taken.
1.5 hours for 2 courses.
We had to ask 3 times for desert as we were rapidly running out of time.
Food was delicious, but drinks (large glass of wine) was a little expensive. But great deals to be had on line and if you’re a member of the gym already
Brilliant service from lovely staff my friends birthday and they gave us a free cocktail each. Food was delicious too
The restaurant was ok,tables clean but the food was awful,!,roast beef that was red looked raw I couldn’t eat it plus the turkey was crumbling the chef said it was ok but he gave us crumbs he couldn’t get a slice out of it .i took ham which was ok. The drinks were really expensive as well I took my wife here for the first time for a Sunday carvery but I won’t rush back .
Fixed menu only due to event at Hydro nearby, so limited choice.
Food was ok, but nothing startling.
Sticky Toffee Pudding was microwaved.
Great service, however.
A good pre-concert option for the Hydro. Lovely atmosphere and good value with the Tastecard.
stayed in the hotel so we had dinner here. no complaints, it was delish. i had the seabass whih was lovely and the cocktails were great too.
The service was super as well.
My friend & I met for dinner on Sunday, we both ordered fillet stroganoff. We had to send back as the bed was very tuff and very difficult to chew.
Very good meal. So convenient for our visit to the Hydro. Free parking. Would definitely go again.
This was booked to eat before a concert at the Hydro. The food was over cooked and service was slow. A few customers next to us complained and left before they had finished their food. Was disappointing.
Pleasant surroundings with friendly efficient staff. The food is nothing special and overpriced.
Pity the menu does not state where peppers are included in a dish/dishes. I ordered two dishes, a starter and a main, both had peppers in them, to which I have a severe allergy. I had to send the dishes away and reorder. This was accommodated by the serving/waiting/kitchen staff and a courtesy discount offered for the inconvenience factor.
If I could make a suggestion that the menus should contain ALL ingredients of a dish to make it easier to distinguish ordering.
Food was very good and lively atmosphere. Service was very good too.
Booked table for Sunday Carvery online for 5:30pm when arrived was told Carvery finished at 4pm. On discussion with waiter and Manager they admitted that is was an online error with times. Manager agreed to give us a discount on other menu available at time. To be honest our party of 4 was really looking forward to sampling the Carvery. We felt meal we had was ok but a big disappointment to what we were looking forward to. There was a billboard outside hotel entrance with no indication that Carvery finished at 4pm. We were actually staying at hotel and if we knew this could have booked a table earlier. On a plus point the waiter who dealt with us was first class and really apologetic. The service we received from him was outstanding.
Staying in hotel as at a concert at the Armidillo
Food was not great. Had I not had the tastecard and been paying full price I would have complained
Staff were really excellent. We asked to change to the bar from the restaurant and it wasn't a problem. Really good for children too.
Great relaxed atmosphere and friendly courteous staff
The welcome and service from restaurant staff was first class. We were there for a 30th birthday lunch for my son and his friends. We chose the Village because of ease of parking and for the fact that they do a Sunday carvery. There was a selection of starters including prawn cocktail, smoked salmon, pate, soup etc and you could choose to have as many as you liked as they were small. The main roast meat choice was beef, turkey and ham. There was a selection of vegetables such as sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese as well as stuffing, sausages wrapped in bacon and Yorkshire puds. The only let down was that the food was not hot. Fresh Yorkshire puds were delivered from the kitchen and they were stone cold! The fact that the plates were only slightly warm didn’t help. This really let the whole experience down. There was a wide selection of cold sweets, including fresh fruit salad, mousses and ice cream. There was also a choice of three hot desserts and custard.
Service very slow even though restaurant not particularly busy. Food good and great value.
Despite booking we have had a long wait for our starters, my soup which was sweet potato & chill was so spicy I couldn't taste anything else. I like spice but this was not enjoyable. We then had a 20+ minute wait for our mains. We both had teyaki salmon which did not taste of teriyaki at all. My salmon had wet skin and was quite mushy in the centre.
I felt unwell for the remainder of my night away.
This was disappointing because I have ate and stayed at numerous village hotels across the UK and have always enjoyed my stay.
The restaurant was so busy it felt the food was rushed.
Service from our waiter was good.
Very handy for the Hydro, we went before a concert. Menu was limited because of the event but still had plenty for us to choose from. Food was delicious, service was first class despite being quite busy.
Great atmosphere and good value for money, we will certainly be back.
