Great food. Service was excellent and draft beer selection was great. Very enjoyable dinner.
Was in the mood for a wurst feast and Village Brauhaus didn't disappoint! Great decor. Reminded me a little of the HoffbrauHaus in Munich.
We arrived early, a sign at the bottom of the stairs said come on up, a very rude employee upstairs informed us we had to go back downstairs. We asked if we could get a seat at the bar and a drink to wait. The bar was terribly loud so we left. We returned at the the time of our reservation and were promptly seated in a small (6-8 table) dining area upstairs. We had to flag down our server every time we wanted anything, he would check on all the tables but ours and the on near us. We flagged him down and said we would like to order, his response was OK. The food was delicious, I just wish the service had been half that good.
Food is nothing special...service is so,so. Bartender Daniel is great and it is a fun place to be.
The food at Village Brauhaus was awesome. Definitely recommend if you like bratwurst. Also, their giant bavarian pretzel was awesome. The service was really good too and polite. The overall feel of the restaurant was very nice too- cool decor and tables.
Food not German quality
Food was good, but sauerbraten was not on the menu which should have been as a German restaurant.
Hefeweizen on tap year round and lots of tasty different wurst to try. The band is on the second floor, it's a bit loud, would recommend staying on the 1st floor if you want to be able to have conversations.
Great Hofbrau! Food not bad, but lacks some authenticity.
The food was awful. the potato salad- hardly warm German potato salad. It was cold and the potatoes undercooked. The weiss wurst was good but the curry wurst came with an awful tasting sauce- and the wurst was just boiled. Service was okay- they were understaffed. My husband's meal- fried and overcooked.
The beer was delicious and the staff were professional and easy going.
Definitely a keeper for those times I get to treat myself to hearty fare. Excellent biers and the food is outstanding. Tasted just like being in Deutschland
Good food, nice beer selection and good atmosphere. Will go back.
Great place, food was ok (but
This was a very strange experience. Our first meal since being fully vaccinated and it was less than stellar. Our first round of beer came very quickly, as did the pretzel we ordered as an appetizer. The entrees, however, took a LONG time. When they finally did arrive, they were cold. Rather than send them back and wait god knows how long for a second version to arrive, we decided to just pack them up and reheat them at home. Meanwhile, the waitress was frazzled and gave me some story about a table outside being marked paid in the system but she didn't have the money and she was going to have to pay it herself because management couldn't figure it out, blah blah blah. The food, once home and reheated was very good but we're certainly not going to bother driving 10 miles again just for glorified takeout, so we probably won't be back anytime soon.
This place was so much fun! shot skis, Carousels of beer and everything german. Loved it!
The food is very good and plentiful. The service was also very good. The only downside was the screaming and crying child that was plopped down at the next table in the middle of our meal. On the other hand, I have been to real beer halls in Munich, where screaming and crying people are fairly normal, but they are usually adults there.
It was SO good!!! The food and beer was wonderful.
Beer was good, food was so so. Service was nice, makes you feel like a valued customer.
Celebrated a family birthday here!!! Great attentive service, thoughtful measures, and noticed the restroom was frequently cleaned & attended to! Food is AWESOME and first Berliner Weisse since being in Germany - took me back! For sure get the white asparagus soup and Bavarian pretzel!
Server was a sweetheart and the energy was great for a night with friends!
It was early and the restaurant wasn't very full.
The beverages and food were yummy.
Was disappointed they ran out of apple stuedle.
-restaurant totally empty when we arrived for our 10:30am brunch reservation. All the staff was in the back, no one to greet customers. A door dash driver there to pick up an order told us “sometimes you just have to yell so they know you’re there.” When we finally got seated, Service was very slow, staff talking amongst themselves behind a curtain right by our table and food was super heavy and greasy. I ordered a plate of wurst and sauerkraut and we were told it would be a few minutes more because the chef was “cleaning the necessary kitchen equipment” for the order. Isn’t that a pretty regular order for a German restaurant??
maybe they are more of an evening/happy hour place...hard to mess up German beer, but definitely would not come back for brunch!
I dined with two friends at the Village Brauhaus on Saturday evening, 3/6/2021. The service was excellent - our waiter appeared promptly and followed up several times. We ordered the carousel with 2.2 liters of Paulaner hefeweizen. Although the carousel with its small glasses was an interesting touch, it's not at all Munchen, but more like something you'd see in Koln. Still, a fun way to drink beer and VB has a good many German draft beers. The food was generally good, but not memorable. The entrees were all good, but we all agreed that my serving of wienerschnitzel was the smallest we'd seen (anywhere). The rottkraut and spaetzle were spot on, but the hot German potato salad might have been the most lackluster I've ever had. No character or zing whatsoever. My dessert strudel, which I was told was the last piece, unfortunately looked like it. The innards were pretty dry (actually tumbled off). My two companions fared better and gave a thumbs up on dessert. The immediate DC area has a dearth of German restaurants, so I definitely will return at a later date. Overall, the food is average, but good, and the various complaints in other reviews regarding service should be viewed as exceptions. VB had a good crowd and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
It was a loud fun time, brought us back to our time in Germany. Food was excellent and waitstaff was prompt and courteous.
Very reliable place to host a big group. Good selection of food and beer.
We went for lunch during the week which is all advised. Many menu items including spatzle weren't available. Beer selection and fried stuff were available. Half dozen parties in the dining room but on a crowded night, this place could get pretty loud. Service was fine but couldn't get what I went there for 😕
Service was slow, maybe we should've sit in the dining area vs bar.
Food was ok, not great.
Beer selection was awesome.
Very crowded and loud. The food was average at best.
We had a lovely evening, made us feel like we were back in Germany! The food was delicious and large serving sizes. The beer was tasty and the staff was friendly. We look forward to our next visit!
The food was good, but not great. The Kassler Rippchen was disappointing, a bit tough to be honest. They weren't currently serving the Kleinehax'n, unfortunately. The Zwiebelrostbraten was pretty good.
Great selection of beers! The waitress was very attentive, so plus marks there.
A bit louder than expected, too.
Overall 3.5 rounded up.
Good food and service. Large meals definitely bring your appetite.
Awesome place. Good place to takes reservations for large groups. Good selection of food and beer. Friendly staff. Worth coming back.
Food and beer are phenomenal! Seating was adequate but hard wood seats made for a want to shorten the time enjoying the fare. Will return if only for the selection of beer.
Plenty of social distancing so the bar and restaurant areas were quiet. Took longer than expected to have the bar staff take our food order but otherwise had a great time. The food and beer are terrific.
When we got there, we waited at the host stand for almost 5 minutes before a waitress, Isadella, came. I told her we had reservations, and she sat us. She told us she would be our waitress and that she’d be right back. 40 minutes went by and we had to call her over and she didn’t apologize. I asked her why it’s taking so long and she blamed it on her waitress and was not apologetic one bit. We left and won’t be back
Great experience ! Great food and ambience
The place was way too crowded. Did seem like the place implemented any restrictions on the occupancy.
Food and service were amazing!
Our Goulash soup appetizer cup was like warm and too spicy. My Wienerschnitzel was good and breaded well. French fries tasted okay. The zwiebelrostbraten was also luke warm as were the spaetzle.
