Welcome to Varia, a Romantic, Upscale Italian Restaurant in Norfolk.
Varia, our Italian restaurant and wine studio, features wine by the glass and a pianist six nights a week. Indulge in homemade pasta, freshly tossed pizzas from our brick oven, or signature Italian desserts like the tiramisu. Varia's modern Italian fare is made from only the best local ingredients and the wine studio features over 100 hand-selected wines, including 50 by the glass.
The dining room's intricate finishes and the warm glow of its reclaimed chandelier, formally of the Historic Cavalier's ballroom, offers an intimate ambiance that invites conversation over a full bodied merlot. Guests can book the ultra private dining room only accessible by hidden doors in the bookshelves for special events.

The evening started a little rough because Angel the bartender was rude and unaccommodating to any requests we had. Once we got to our table, Harrison our server went above and beyond to smooth things over and gave us a great experience! The food was very good with really nice presentations. I will definitely return, but avoid the grumpy bartender.

The food was fine. Bread was late coming out, but it was fresh so worth the wait. The main challenge was the piano music was too loud. It finally got turned down but kinda ruined the atmosphere for a quaint dinner date.

Beautiful venue! Relaxing and romantic environment, great pianist, food was great, kind waiter, great selection of drinks. Definitely will be returning!

Sean, our waiter, was fantastic. He brought us water & bread to us right as we were getting settled at the table and greeted us with a smile. He made sure our appetizers came out first and we had time to enjoy them before our main dishes came out. He knew the dessert menu ingredients as my girlfriend wanted to know if there was lady fingers in the tiramisu or sponge cake. He checked on us appropriately and made sure our drinks and water were always full. The food was well presented and tasty. Great date spot!

The food and service was OK. The noise was not very conducive to the business meal and they added the tip to the bill without asking. I did not like that

We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Varia. Our drinks and appetizers/meals was delicious. My wife really enjoyed herself! It was our first time at Varia. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

First visit there. Very interesting place with many different sections. There is main dining, a room hidden behind a bookcase- The Vault, the Wine Studio, a Main Dining Room and the Wolf Lounge with live piano entertainment. They have great events during the week, Ladies Night, Gentlemen’s Night, Family and Friends Night. The food is delicious , especially the Crispy Brussels Sprouts 😀. They have Happy hour . Ashley H., our server was wonderful and attentive. Will definitely be back.
