Excellent menu, great service.
Everything was great with the exception of our main waiter. He came on with a condescending attitude the entire night. Not the attitude you want to have when working in a service industry. Luckily for us there were a few other staff members that were great. Overall it is a great place to dine. The food was wonderful..
Our experience was excellent. The food and service was outstanding. We have been to restaurants all over the world and this one ranks in our top 5. This was our 3rd visit to Tintoque. The blending of Indigenous ingredients and flavors with culinary expertisé makes this a unique experience. We could taste the chef's influence from his experiences in San Sebastián, Spain. Even though the chef was not physically present during our last meal, the kitchen staff knows what they are doing and are well trained. The wine steward was most accommodating. Our wait staff was most efficient. Thank you for a great experience!
We had a lovely experience. I mentioned that it was a birthday on the reservation notes, and they had decorated the table for it. Also gave us a 3rd desert with a candle.
The food was amazing as each dish is so carefully thought out and ingredients are interesting without being pretentious. We chose the Restaurant Week menu, which is what brought me to finally try the place. I would go back for a special dinner without hesitation.
Still hands down the best restaurant in PV! Probably the only restaurant in PV who puts great effort into its Restaurant Week offerings. Can't wait to go back and try everything on the a la carte menu!
Restaurant and food are wonderful. Staff is well trained and attentive. We were there a few weeks ago and enjoyed our entire experience and it was a busy night. This time it wasn't busy and we felt a little rushed....no time between courses and we mentioned it to the manager. We also had a few food requirements that they had no problem accommodating. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Fantastic food. A gem in the marina worth a special visit.
Tintoque exceeded my expectations, and I looked for a 5 stars restaurant with the best comments ever to have the best dinner in my life, so, this is quite something. Amazing experience. Loved it.
It was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the six course tasting menu. Every dish was a beautiful presentation and amazing flavors. The service was friendly and attentive without being too much. The wine was a excellent cab from Mexico. Everything was incredible! And the chef came over to greet us. We told him he should get a Michelin star! Possibly our best food experience!
Tintoque, was such a treat!! We are from Maryland and we’re so thrilled with both the service and food we experienced. The interior decor was stunning and all of the staff catered to their guests. The power happened to go out during our dinner and the staff made sure we were still well taken care of. The chef’s were using phones to light up the kitchen and they still presented delicious, memorable, and beautiful food!! Would highly, highly recommend as a must visit in PV! Request Marcos! He was our fav!
I love this restaurant. The food is delicious, the chef always has creative dishes to pick from and the service is delightful to make the perfect evening.
This was the first restaurant we went to for Restaurant Week. Everything was perfect. We loved our food choices. The service was exceptional.
Six course tasting menu is a MUST
The food is delicious, the place was pretty quiet especially as we arrived early. The service is amazing too.
Tintoque is a very good 5-star gourmet restaurant in the Marina Vallarta area, interpreting Mexican dishes using international modern techniques. We ordered the 9-course tasting menu with wine pairings and highly recommend this. Best dishes for us were the shrimp cooked sous vide and wrapped with cucumber, the “bento box” amuse bouche, a seafood dish that tasted like vitello tonnato (sorry, I couldn’t memorize all nine dish names), and the chocolate dessert since it was NOT cloyingly sweet. We prefer savoury to sweet. Thus, the least favourite dishes were the “Mexican risotto” with mole and the slow-roasted tomato dish. If these two were staged later in the nine courses, then they could be “pre-dessert”. The wine pairings were excellent and featured several wineries from Baja California. It was our first time trying Mexican wines and were pleasantly surprised. Most impressive was the sommelier’s audacity in pairing very bold reds with seafood courses. Bottom line : if you like gourmet tasting menus of the “modern” variety, you definitely need to eat here.
Thank you very much for your kind opinion and having chosen us among the diverse gastronomic offer in Puerto Vallarta. We appreciate your vote of confidence to have chosen to receive our menu of 9 times with pairing and give the opportunity to Mexican wines that deserve to be discovered. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards
A wonderful opportunity to experience a new approach to classic Mexican flavors, using hyper local ingredients and creative preparations. We were surprised that the restaurant was virtually empty during our visit. The tasting menu was divine. The service—by a young, enthusiastic staff—attentive. Go here!!
Saludos cordiales
We just think they need to work on their martinis.
I can’t say enough about the place - both the food and drinks were amazing. We had the shrimp roulette appetizer and it was bright with flavor. I had the escolar and grilled octopus entree which was cooked perfectly and deliciously spiced. We had margaritas and mohitos that were so good that we came back after dinner the next night to have a few more. The service was just wonderful - when we didn’t love the margarita made with raicilla (smoky flavor), they made us another with tequila. Highly recommend.
Our best meal of our week trip was here. The food was amazing (best prime rib we’ve ever had the quality of meat and how it was cooked just magnificent, the amuse Bouche like the tuba which is a local traditional drink was our favorite thing we tried in our entire trip, and the rest of the menu was wonderful , service outstanding (they were very accommodating we had two children with us), and to top it off the prices were surprisingly reasonable! We want to go back! Also walking distance to many of the resorts near the marina like Marriott, shangrila, etc.
Great flavors in every dish. The flavors are layered and well blended. The ingredients are local and go beyond the everyday dining experience. The octopus and sea bass with guajillo pepper sauce was has down the best thing I ate all week. This was better than any other place we ate, including Cafe des Artistes. Bravo Tintoque!
Wonderful restaurant. The menu is very creative and the food is excellently prepared. The setting is very pleasant and the neighborhood is nice with good parking.
Amazing, delicious food. Many unusual ingredients & preparations. Great value for this type of cuisine. We will always visit when in PV
Muy bonito lugar, excelente comida, servicio bueno. 100% recomendable.
We really enjoyed our meal at Tintoque. We both chose the 6 course dinner with wine pairing, and thoroughly enjoyed every course. If you're really particular on wines, they may not be the perfectly full-bodied reds you'd usually have, but each wine paired well with the course we provided. We also enjoyed that the ingredients were locally sourced or inspired. Will definitely go back on a future visit.
The food was great, although the mole in the risotto was overpowering and there was too much sauce. The foie gras was completely lost in it. The rest of the food was delicious.
A couple of negative notes:
The Sour Apple did not match the tasting notes on the menu, it only tasted of vanilla. As a chef and bartender, this was very disappointing.
The service was lacking, there was no explanation of the dishes, only when asked and still it was underwhelming. We waited around for things like plates, cutlery, glasses etc and our server was very nice but not attentive. Even when we were clearly waiting for something or to order a drink, he was not noticing us. It was a special night out with my parents who were visiting so the service was a bit disappointing, especially for a restaurant of high standard.
I have been to amazing restaurants in Tijuana, Valle de Guadelupe and Mexico City. While this restaurant tried, the menu fell short and wine pairings even shorter.
The front of house, including Marco and Marisol, were passionate and and knowledgeable about the dishes. The food items were cooked to perfection.
What fell short were the recipes and wine pairings .
My husband had the scallops with anchovies (which was good) and catch of the day with lentils and truffles (which overpowered the fish).
I had the 6 course pre-fixe menu with wine pairings. The flavors of most of the dishes ran together resulting in a soup or stew mash up rather then one dish with multiple different flavor profiles (like one finds at Michelin star restaurants or even Javier Placentia’s Mission 19).
The wine pairings were completely off, except for the steak course. They either overpowered the dish or cowered from the dish.
We drove 30 minutes to this restaurant. In the end we wished we had bought the all inclusive at Garza Blanca, where the food was modern and delicious.
I gave this restaurant 4 stars because it is good food. But, it is too expensive for what it is to recommend it.
My fourth wonderful visit. The big Clam done ceviche style was incredibly flavorful. My best Ceviche ever. The Foie Gras in a risotto mole was very special; easily the best Mole I have ever had. The Scallops prepared with snails and anchovies was very inventive and equally tasty. I have spent three months a year in Puerto Vallarta for the last 10 years and have eaten at the best. Tintoque leaves everyone else in the dust.
This was the third time we were at Tintoque. The first time the owner and chief was there and the food was excellent as well as the service. My wife is a vegiterian and the chief and the waiter that assisted us were very helpful and made several recommendations that were not on the menu. Unfortuanely that type of service is not lacking. We went back in February and again just last week . Both times the food was average, the selections were liminted and they were not very accommodating to my wife's dietary requests even when we asked. The only reason we went back last week was that one of our guests who we went with the first time wanted to go. needless to say without the owner there the service and the quality of the selections of the food have gone downhill. I am sorry to say we will not be going there again nor recommending it.
Wonderful menu selections include special baked tomatoes ,esquite risotto and delicious main entrees
Terrific owner and staff
Absolutely fabulous restaurant! On par with fine Michelin starred restaurants we’ve been to in the US and Europe. We started with a softshell crab appetizer to share, and then went on to the six course tasting menu with wine pairings at each course. Each course and each wine was perfect beyond description. One highlight was a 72 hour poached tomato with a peanut mole sauce...simply one of the best dishes ever. We could go on and on, but the bottom line is if you appreciate great food and wine, Tintoque is not to be missed.
Good concept but execution not there. Shrimp app way overcooked. Foie Gras app in mango was ok. FILs sous vide tomato dish was the best dish. Wife’s steak was nice but gnocchi kinda weird. Sauces really rich (which is not a bad thing) but need something to offset that richness. Desserts were really good.
Excellent food experience though a bit on the pricey side.
Excelente experiencia gastronomica.
Todos los platillos que pedimos estuvieron excepcionales.
