    The restaurant itself, ambience and service is excellent. We had the two course meal option. The salad was below average, terrible for a fine dining restaurant. The Walleye fish was unacceptable. Who serves batter fried fish in a fine dining restaurant and on top of that it tasted terrible. The pork chop had by my brother was fine!

    We had one of the best evenings ever. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our waiter showed us a secret room, the maître d' told us about the art work in the room. We were then told they would be a guided tour later that evening. The tour was was Super! Like I said one the best evenings ever!

    The ambiance was outstanding, my wife and I could be more pleased! We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at the same place we got married, The Whitney! I actually believe the service and food improved over the 10 years. Thank you, I now plan on making this an annual event with the wife due to how AMAZING the service and food was! Thanks for making my wedding and its 10 year anniversary special.

    The ambiance and service at the Whitney is amazing. The food is excellent. There was an issue with an item we were served. I was more than pleased by the staffs response. Everybody in the place it seemed apologized. The manager came out and was super apologetic. They made everything right and even brought me a new plate so my partner wouldn't eat alone. Perfect customer service!

    This is a very unique experience the service was great the food was perfectly cooked and served. ambiance is low lighting quiet we did have a gentleman playing the piano which added to the overall experience. You can tell they want to give you a great evening. We did do the tour Jim he was great very knowledgeable of the Whitney.

    While I understand that restaurants are doing things they wouldn't normally do because of the covid impact, but you should still make an attempt to make this a better experience. With 14 different rooms to serve meals in, you could easily separate those that are dressed and planning for a find dining experience, and those who can't wait to get back to cleaning the garage. Half the patrons were in dresses and jackets or suits, and the rest were in shorts, flip flops and jeans. The website states that there is a dress code, but its not be enforced. And personally, I feel that 45 minutes for a $300 dinner is far too rushed. Fine dining should be about the experience, not an fast, expensive 'refueling' All in all, a beautiful restaurant that has lost its way.

    We had tea at The Whitney and it was a great experience. The atmosphere, food and the service were all wonderful! I would highly recommend it. The one thing I wish they would do is have more than one tea to choose from. They served a herbal tea which I thought was delicious but some in my party did not care for it. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed the tea.

    Worth the price for the ambience and the the experience. But what bothered me was that they charged 9$ per welcome drink which we were not told beforehand. I wouldn’t have said no to it, but it felt like a bit like being taken advantage of, I did not appreciate it one bit. Would likely not come back as I appreciate honesty more than ambience and food

    What a way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The service, the food, the ambiance was perfect. We recommend the Whitney tour also. We recommend the Whitney to all our friends and you tell them you heard it first from Bob and Laura.

    Food wasn’t good. Nothing tasted fresh. Shrimp came out dirty, salad looked old, main entree didn’t seem fresh or cooked right and dessert had no flavor.

    this is my second time here first time was at brunch, this time was at dinner. the only reason I’m giving four stars this time is because my husband said the vegan jambalaya was bland & tasted threw together. and for that to be the only vegetarian option was disappointing. They did offer to alter the hors d’oeuvres vegetarian which was nice because I didn’t expect that . Also I didn’t realize the Pecan crusted halibut was actually fried and because of weight-loss surgery I can’t eat fried food and they weren’t able to send it back to the kitchen because the kitchen was closed by the time I got my food but they did take off the jambalaya and discount the fish from my bill so I guess that was okay but overall I do love this place just have to pay more attention to the menu and hopefully they get a better vegan option or at least more than one

    What the Hell happened! That's all I can say. I can only conclude they are in Covid survival mode. Limited menu with bland stock items. Best thing was the Black Bean soup which while very good, is not an item found on fine restaurant menu. Where is the award winning carrot cake? There is no complexity to the choices on the menu. And absolutely no dress code (saints preserve us). We have gone to the Whitney many times in the past but we will not in the future. To the Owners, please sell the restaurant to someone who will return it to its glory. Presently is is in a shameful disarray.

    What a wonderful way to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary - #45!! The signature dish (Beef Wellington) was awesome as well as the Filet... Highly recommend this beautiful venue, excellent food and service!

    Always, every time, everything is superb! Service and food quality are classy — a real treat. A great spot for dinner before heading to the Detroit Symphony or Detroit Opera. Probably the best wine list in metro Detroit. The filet mignon has always been my favorite dish here — the latest (August 2022) presentation takes it over the top. A world-class steak.

    Our first time at the Whitney. My beef Wellington was overcooked, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and cold. My wife had shrimp and scallops. It was also cold. Overall we loved the venue but the food was not up to par.

    Great experience even if the tea isn't the main event of the afternoon tea. Champagne as you walk in, live piano music, and more food than you can eat- a lovely way to celebrate

    Food was some of the best we have had while in Detroit. High quality, good portions. Loved the vibe. Waitress was lacking the details and hostess was a bit rude. We went to 3rd floor room for seating and she was going to put us at the middle table on the room vs a cozy side table when there were 4 available. We asked if we could move to the one near window and she quickly snapped that we don’t let people pick their tables but then moved us. When a similar issue came up later i the evening she allowed the couple to switch without saying a word. Our candle was not lit at new table and never was. Our silverware was refreshed from neighboring tables and we got a salad fork for our entree. For the dinner we planned, we would have expected a little more focus on the details. Also, it was our anniversary and we noted it but never came up again. As we were leaving, we saw dessert played with Happy Anniversary from other tables. Bartender was great and knew his stuff!!!!

    The Whitney experience is lovely. Ambiance is excellent for the interior, just fascinating. The staff is perfect, they know their job well. The background piano is soothing. The outdoor seating is delightful although someone really should sweep steps and rug at the astonishing front door. If I return, the all white dining room would be my choice for elegant dining. All other rooms seem dim/dark to me. Although, all decorating is lovely. It’s clearly a dining experience, Fit for royalty! Partake and enjoy!

    Wonderful food, beautiful setting. The grand craftsmanship of the house creates a delightful ambiance. Our server Tim was gracious and attentive. Chef accommodated for our food allergies. The Ghost Bar is a great place to start your evening. Tours of the house are available.

    My family and I came to The Whitney for a celebratory dinner, and we absolutely loved our experience there. The food and service was outstanding, and the tour afterwords was very impressive. We definitely recommend and we cannot wait to do it!
