Lovely place to eat, our first date was here 3.5 years ago and it's just a great place
An entree was ordered by one person who asked that this come out with the main meals so as not to hold up the order. The entree was served, nothing followed. We watched as people arrived after we were seated, they were served and received their food before us. We enquired with the waiter, who it seems did not tell the kitchen to bring out this entree with all of our mains. We waited longer, still nothing. One of our guests went to find out where our order was and explained what we could see around us re others being served and was told "Fair call". Once the food arrived, half of the table mentioned that their meal was cold. The food was overpriced for what we received. I would rather have sat at an outdoor table and ordered my own food and drinks using the at table QR code. Unfortunately, we had elderly guests and it was too hot for them outside so it wasnt really an option. We also weren't very impressed that the bill could not be split. These details while you are making the reservation might be handy to know so that people can get organised with their money and not have to rush to find a cash machine in the heat. l In this day and age it seems ridiculous, especially as essentially this is just a pub.
View was great .. food excellent.. but very hard to read menu when it got dark .. perhaps a few candles around or more above lighting ... we were on the window side with no lighting at all
Have visited regularly. Usually excellent service and food. Most recent visit however, a couple of dishes were below par in size and flavour- Only 3 Skull creek prawns for the the price was a bit steep. The sweet potato caponata was very small also for the price.
Pizza was amazing and reasonably priced. Service was quick and we were looked after very well. We sat outside, beautiful weather and The Royal were kind enough to bring water for our little bulldog as well. Overall very satisfied.
We went for Sat lunch . The waiter was excellent, food was excellent .wine list good .
If i had to be picky ,I think the place is a bit tired it needs a bit of a revamp ..
But in saying that with covid and the restaurant industry , It would be a expense that they most probably cant afford at this time ..
Definitely go back ...
My sons and I all have February birthdays. We go once a year to Royal on the Waterfront to celebrate our birthdays together. We again had an enjoyable time. The distance between tables made conversation easy. The waitress provided still and spritzed waters and kept them supplied. We all enjoyed our meals and the venue. L. Clayton
Overall very good, would go back for special occasions, however, felt the wines were quite expensive.
Can't speak highly enough about the food and service. Both were excellent.
Oysters served were fresh, but at room temperature, not chilled.
Entrees very small portions. Average presentation.
Prices on the high side, considering small portions.
Overall, we did not get value for money paid.
Firstly it doesn’t accept cash unless you order at the till . New advice on the table to make orders online n pay by phone . Staffs were friendly but the food took ages n the steak was chewy, my spaghetti was extremely spice . A shame for a big venue with incredible view
Hi Nadia, Thank you on your review. Our self ordering Me&U beacons are credit card pay only, however we do except cash if you wish to order directly from the bar. I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your Crab Chilli Spaghettini and the Stirling Rangers Sirlion, I apologise there was a little wait on food on our extremely busy Valentines Day. We had a great night and the food was really nice. We could not pay separately which put a dampener on the night but everything else was good. i think we will defiantly eat there again.
Thank for a great afternoon/evening. It was great place to spend my birthday with my friends. Everyone loved their food. And a big thank to the lady that was looking after us as she found a table outside for us to enjoy a wine at the end of our meal. Thanks Claire

Lovely setting, view, food and service. Have been here many times.
A very pleasant Wednesday evening meal. Few diners and very quiet, (Covid restrictions influenced so understandable) but that suited us as we wanted to chat with our friends. 3 of the 4 meals (2 x gnocchi and 1 x fish pie) were very good. The person who had the crab and spaghettitini did not enjoy it. Daniel our waiter was excellent. As well as good service he provided good (and appropriate) humour.

Absolutely loved our dinner here. We had a selection of mostly seafood share plates and everything was delicious. Service was perfect too and we liked ordering and paying through the app. The cocktail selection was a little light on and missed some classics. Dinner outside by the cove on a hot night with the full moon was just perfect for ambience and view and The Royal was a perfect place for two friends to catch-up who hadn’t seen each other in months. We didn’t have to yell to make ourselves heard and wait staff were attentive and helpful.
Booked for Saturday night at 7pm arrived fractionally early, they had us seated outside in the dark, and with no table service outside owing to covid restrictions (I honestly thought in outside fresh air you had less chance of contacting the disease than being inside, how silly of me). This was our 4 visit to this eatery and it was our last, party of 6 3 ordered parmy, 1 ordered gnocchi, another octopus, and the last chicken breast. The last 2 meals you would have had more as an entree than a main and when questioned about it you should have ordered side dishes at $9 apiece makes it a very expensive dish at over $50 each. Ordered Chacheteure for entree recommended for 4 persons asked for it to made up to suit 6 persons well everything was too much trouble thats it I would not recommend this establishment to anyone not even my dog

Although your booking was made and confirmed for outside seating, had you mentioned this on the night we would have happily moved your table to inside the restaurant with full table service. Lovely setting for drink's and food. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.
Food was brought out in a timely manner and was very tasty. I would visit this venue again.
The service at thenRoyal,was friendly but soooo slow. The staff were friendly but two bar staff. Serving a queu of 20 people is always going to take a long time. Our meal took at least an hour to arrive, when it did finally arrive it was lovely.

The Royal matches neither it's name nor it's beautiful location in terms of a dining experience. Pub grub with poor service. Very disappointed for my 50th bday meal. Shockingly bad, will never return or recommend. My first ever review because I'm just so mad about it. I'm well aware restaurants have struggled with Covid.. the Royal is doing nothing to help themselves.

Our was great, two of the meals were good, but the beef cheek gnocchi was vey, very salty. We did mention this to the waiter.

Beautiful spot but the table service was non existent, the food was expensive for steak and chips. Salad or vegies would of been good accompany.

Busy night at the time. Enough space between customers for comfortable dining. Wait staff were helpful and honest with the wait time. Meals were great and served together.

The grilled Octopus dish arrived stone cold and very unsubstantial. The Chicken parmi, was well, very ordinary, served cold. The chips were nice. For a top location this restaurant provides the ambience, however the same colud not be said for the food on the night. Very disappointing and won't be back for a while, if only to see if any improvement has been affected.

Only negative was that if you had an outdoor table you had to order food and drinks inside. Food was delivered to the table. There was a facility to order and pay through your phone which we did not use as we were paying cash.

Not a fan of phone ordering from your table. Had all sorts of problems using an Apple phone connecting to the menu. Ended up ordering from the bar. Nice setting on the river.

Food was cooked exactly to our liking. Service was quick and friendly. Only issue was the noisy patrons filing in after a cricket game at the stadium

It was a very hot night so it was nice to have the option to sit inside in the air conditioning. The waitress was very helpful as were all the staff and we were not kept waiting for our food. All the food we ordered was excellent. The wine list was not too long and had a lot of local wines to choose from. Thanks for a lovely night out.
