Wonderful early Thanksgiving meal with family - all the dishes ordered were delicious as always!! One of our favorite restaurants.
My go to, always enjoy dining in San Diego!!
Initially booked outside but realized how cold it was. The host was gracious to bring us to the next door lounge with live music, which turned out to be fun! The chef also came out to say hello. Food was fantastic!
Simply delicious! My husband had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The pasta dishes were some of the best we have ever had and we’re Italian! The flatbread appetizer is a must try. Our waiter was attentive and funny. The chef circulated to all the tables. So happy to have found this gem! We will definitely return!
We were seated promptly and service was fast and friendly. The portions were great and the food was delicious. The head chef and owner was a delight and made sure everyone felt welcome in a place he cherished.
Good food. Excellent service from Ryan
Lovely. Good food.
One of the best meals that I have ever had in San Diego! The service was attentive and the chef introduced himself to all of the tables. It was the perfect place to go for my mom's birthday!
I love red door. The food is so fresh and wonderful fresh seafood options which is my favorite proteins. The chef makes an effort to come say hello and tell you about his special dishes which is also very charming
The food was very disappointing. Fish tacos were awful, not fresh should not have been served. Kale salad was bitter, and soggy as well as the salad that came with the tacos. The only food that was halfway decent was the sausage pesto flatbread.
Chef Luciano has a really special
place and takes pride in all of his amazing dishes and is so friendly as he visits his guests! We enjoyed the brussel sprouts with pistachios, perfectly medium rare Beef Wellington in a Madeira sauce, and lobster ravioli in a delicate vodka sauce. The Le Corte Del Pozzo Amarone wine was incredibly flavorful with its dark Cherry notes, yet so velvety and dry. Our server was excellent and we had amazing meal! There were so many specials, it was intriguing! From lobster risotto to Alba white truffles, it was a culinary delight! What a neighborhood gem!
Incredible food, great drinks, and awesome service! Will be coming back
Way Over priced for a mediocre food quality, restaurant smells bad. Last not least the waitress attitude really sucked
Definitely will never step a foot there again
Love the place
The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable about their menu and wine pairings. The seared scallops were amazing and the cocktails we had with our meal were great. Would definitely come again.
Never disappoints....great neighborhood restaurant!
Fabulous experience all around! The food was just amazing! I highly recommend going
The food here was wonderful and the Chef took the time to personally greet us and describe the dishes on the menu. We were here to celebrate a special occasion and the chef and staff made the evening even more special. Definitely give The Red Door a try!
Had the Fish Tacos (shrimp and lobster) and a small salad for lunch; very good.
Quiet atmosphere, excellent service. Miss the hamburger on the menu.
The fresh fettuccine and white truffels flown in from Italy were simply fantastico! Chef Luciano outdid himself!
Excellent food & service
Chef Luciano delivers delicious plates. You can't go wrong with the daily specials
Always delicious and great service chef Luciano is great!
If you want a real Italian dinner, made by a Milan trained chef, this is the place.
You will feel welcomed as if this place was your home. The service is attentive. Everyone works to make your visit a happy one.
This is no corporate kitchen. Here you can get one to one attention. So, special requests? Just let them know. They seem to accommodate anything thrown their way.
If they offer specials, order one. Often they are there because the owner found extra nice fish or shellfish that morning. Take a look at this Spiny Lobster.
visited for the weekend, the food was delicious, the server was witty and helpful, the resturant had good vibes, overall 10/10
The lamb shank is world class, one of best dishes I have ever had. Unbelievably tender meat with the perfect pairing of delicious risotto, it is truly inspirational. The lobster ravioli was phenomenal, with a remarkable red vodka sauce that shines vibrant fruity notes and pairs beautifully with the lobster. No two ravioli are the same, capturing that amazing handmade pasta experience. The sticky toffee pudding was a stunning finale to this meal, breaking through any barriers of the previous meal to deliver a medley of sweet flavors that wrapped the meal in perfect harmony.
Red Door always exceeds my expectations, service is phenomenal and food is exquisite and delectable.
Would recommend 100%
The chef/ owner comes out to greet and interact with his customers, which indeed is above & beyond great customer service! He's a very humble gentlemen no doubt about it.
Food is extraordinary,
Beef Wellington is to die for
Filet Mignon is lovely
Lamb Shank is delicious
Lobster Risotto is so Yummy.
And you can't go wrong with any appetizer you decide on.
This is a must go to if in San Diego CA
First time here and the service was outstanding and the food was excellent. Will be coming back frequently
Food was terrific. We got there at noon and it was very quiet. By the time we finished lunch the crowd and noise level had increased. Cute outdoor seating.
Food was okay. We tried the Brussels sprouts, short rib, lobster ravioli and sea bass tacos. The food wasn’t overly flavorful. Our waiter however was the best. He was attentive and very welcoming. Also the birthday truffles were probably my favorite item. Would go back just for the the service and truffles honestly!
We really enjoyed The Red Door. The food and service were great. We had lobster ravioli and gnocchi, both of which were terrific. Nice red wine by the glass. Jake, our server, was friendly and professional, and gave good advice about both wine and food.
The owner dropped by and chatted briefly a couple of times, which was welcome and seems rarely to happen at restaurants these days. We ate outside, which was a bit noisy (tables are next to a busy road). I never even peeked inside, which I will have to do next time. We will go back sooner rather than later.
First off I want to say the restaurant had wonderful service!! The food was fresh and good, but we felt it was very overpriced. We come from the NJ/NYC so we are used to expensive dinners, but the quality unfortunately did not match the price. We overall enjoyed our meal, but will seek elsewhere during our time in SD.
Chef served an amazing filleted Corvina with vegetables! Absolutely the best seafood we have had. There was enough for 3 very happy eaters. Always have a great meal at the Red Door!!
Wasn’t blown away for what we paid.
We never got any bread. Kinda weird an Italian restaurant. we also didn’t ask for it and probably wouldn’t have eaten it if we had gotten it though ;p
We truly enjoyed our meals, absolutely a must for our next visit to SD.
We enjoyed meeting the owner/chef, Luciano, and our lead server Nova was fantastic.
Food was fantastic! The chef and owner came out and cHatted with us and made some suggestions - flat bread! Some Of the best I’ve ever had - as were the short ribs, lamb shank, desert - all great - we are going back soon!
First time eating at Red Door. We will definitely return. Tony was an outstanding waiter! Look forward to our next visit!
This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants, not only in Mission Hills but all of San Diego. The Chef is also the owner and truly takes pride in his dishes, the customers and his staff. He goes out and greets almost every table and EVERY SINGLE DISH is mouthwatering and delicious. And I capitalized that because I’ve literally had every one…. I HIGHLY recommend this place for any occasion, fancy, casual, group or alone. If you want great, go here. It’s great food/Chef, great service, great ambiance, great experience. This place is GREAT!!!!
Was really excited to try this restaurant after seeing multiple high ratings. Maybe we tried some plates that were just not their best. Service was super good but food isn’t great. Their birthday treat was probably the best thing of whole meal, which was appreciated. Will likely not return.
