Great food and good service. Terrific neighborhood vibe.
Great food! Appetizers were terrific - The beet & burrata and the butternut Brie were amazing. Had the shaved brussels salad - it would be better as a veggie side - a little heavy as a salad. Our friends had the arugula salad & raved about it. Entrees were great! Had the lamb shank - fabulous!
Never disappointed! Staff and food was excellent!
The food was phenomenal I got the beef Wellington and my friend got a special recommended by the chef, which not only did he come out to personally greet us, but also to check in on how the food was tasting. The dinks were good as well. Overall a good meal and a great place to eat.
Food was good, but the outdoor seating was pretty awful. You’re seated along the sidewalk of a busy street so people walk by frequently and loud sirens pass in the street. It ruins what could be pleasant ambience. We had pretty awful table service as well. No refills on the 4 oz glass of water we were given, we were never given an opportunity to request another drink and our waiter took a smoke break after dropping off our dessert menu. Rather than waiting for him to return we just got our bill from the bar and left. Overall a really disappointing experience.
We had an outstanding meal in a vibrant, fun atmosphere. My husband had a wonderful birthday dinner; we absolutely loved The Red Door. We brought our 8 and 10 year old kids and the server was so welcoming and accommodating to the kids. Excellent experience!
This was our first visit however it won’t be our last! The food is amazing and the service is excellent. Love how the chef comes to each table for a visit.
The banana cream pie is outstanding! Definitely worth saving room for desert.
Everything was fantastic! Thank you
Loved all the food and the ambiance was fantastic! Owner/Chef came out to meet us and made for a really personable dining experience. Will definitely be back!
We went for the Beef Wellington and were not disappointed. We will definitely return to try other more Italian dishes on the menu.
Good food and great staff. Try the Beef Wellington it’s spot on
Staying in San Diego a few days and went for dinner to the Red Door. What a little gem. Food was excellent, service was excellent without being intrusive. One of us had scallops the other beef Wellington, both were delicious. Well done a very pleasant evening.
Honestly we were disappointed with our meal and experience at The RedDoor. The food was mediocre and the outside seating is just ok. I really wanted to like this place because I like the concept. The food just doesn't deliver. The dessert (cheesecake and the appetizer (beets and burrata) were the only saving grace.
We absolutely loved the food, drink and our waiter. He was very confident and knowledgeable which is a huge plus. Definitely will go there again for another date night.
It was quaint neighborhood restaurant specializing in farm to fork dishes. Everything we had was well prepared and delicious. We will return to this gem.
Everything was great. Amazing service, the chef casually stepped out to introduce himself to our table. Food was great. Our waiter Ryan was very attentive and super nice. Great time, great food, very laid back. Definitely recommend.
Everything was amazing
Especially the chef!!!
Amazing cocktails best dessert options. Great for a celebration!
The food as usual was outstanding and the server was very cordial & attentive. The chef is always walking the tables asking how the food and service. He also made a special dish of octopus that was exceptional. Will keep coming back!
Partner's Birthday ... chose Red Door specifically for the Beef Wellington, which was excellent. Our waitress, Nova, was attentive and great!
It was amazing. We love the Red Door. I came here through recommendation from my parents, who are tremendous foodies. I brought my boyfriend over last night and he fell in love with the place. Best Italian food, best chef, we love Luciano’s spot, The Red Door. Top Pick in SD for sure.
The Red Door is a neighborhood gem. Our meal was very good, close to excellent. Service excellent, a bit of a laps getting the bill, but still excellent.
Seating is a bit tight, and a conversations can get a little loud, but not overwhelming.
The house cocktail offerings were excellent. The lamb shank, and the scallops excellent, the short rib good, a bit overpowering, but good.
Dessert is outstanding. Had the banana cream pie is a must try.
Mother-in-law's birthday was honored with a complementary dessert and candle.
Our night was five star. Will be back.
We had the BEST time! The environment, service and food are 10 stars- no doubt. The service was truly exceptional. The food is outstanding and great quality. The chef even came out to say hi- who was so nice! Our new favorite spot and we will be back again soon!!
Great place. Would definitely recommend
As always, the food and service were exceptional!
The food and service are excellent. The restaurant is attractive and seating is comfortable. Lunch or dinner, The Red Door is a must dine at location.
We had a great experience. Our server Enzo took care of us and he is an amazing server. The owner-chef came to check on us and was very happy to explain things to us
The food was the best i've had since moving to CA several years ago. You can tell that they care about quality. The ambiance of the restaurant was exquisite as well. It made for the perfect date location for me and my wife. The chef was even out and talking with a few guests. I will definitely make this a place that I try to frequent. It may be a little expensive, but you get so much more than what you pay for. I'd give 6 stars out of 5 if possible.
food is very good, if not a little pricey ($40 for chicken parm with samll side of sphaghetti), but everything seems to freshly prepared. Salads and sides are all good -- the fresh brussell sprout salad was delish! The toffee dessert was just perfect. the squid ink seafood pasta was just ok, but anything with risotto is great. Only complaints; sound track was bad and chef walking through the dining room with scent of his cologne is off putting, but he comes out and checks with everybody. great food for date night!
Delicious food from the clams to the scallops. A wonderful way to spend a birthday evening.
The food was great the service was excellent! It was a great place for a nice evening dinner!
My girlfriend and I wanted a nice dinner before going to the Globe for a play, and we could not have made a better choice. Our waiter was helpful and friendly, the owner/chef visited our table and we had a charming conversation with him-the entire experience was first class. We will be going back.
The food is delicious and the live entertainment at the adjacent bar was wonderful for after dinner drinks.
Tony was our waiter: so personable & quite attentive to refilling our iced teas & delivering the food pronto. We had a Sunday noon reservation & at that time, only one other table was occupied. By 12:45, the Red Door was getting busy. Unfortunately a family came in with a crying baby (really?) try Chuckie Cheese!
This restaurant is located in the very quaint Mission Hills neighborhood. We were able to get a last-minute reservation about an hour before closing. The food was delicious -- the seafood with squid ink fettuccine was amazing with lots of shellfish & huge, perfectly cooked shrimp. The salmon & risotto special was flavorful, plentiful & absolutely delicious. The prices are high, but you do get a lot of food per entree. The service was adequate, but we felt like we should rush since the main dining room was closing by the time we were finishing up our meal. Our waitperson seemed like she was ready to go home, too. Overall, we had a great nice experience & will go back when we have more time to savor the food, drink & atmosphere.
The food is always exceptional and the bar (same kitchen) has music and is a cool spot.
Great food and service.
The food was amazing, the chef/owner came to the table and introduced himself, when he came back to check on the food I mentioned something about the dish I was expecting and he clarified that what I thought was missing was actually there and just not as noticeable because of how it was made. Over amazing food, service, and ambiance
One of our best meals ever! Lovely and lively location. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the butternut Brie and arugula salad to start. The Brie is to die for! We shared the cavatelli in order to save room for dessert. The cavatelli was filling and delicious with fresh veggies in sauce. So glad we saved room for dessert as the tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding were indulgent and incredible! Chef Luciano Cibelli checked in on us and made us feel as if we were family. What a memorable evening in San Diego!
