I took a friend who is very interested & knowledgeable about Jane Austen and her novels. The Pump Room's atmosphere and ambience gave her great pleasure and made our visit the highlight of her holiday.
A lunch at The Pump Room should definitely be part of any Bath familiarisation programme of a 1st time visit. We started our Sunday with a extensive visit to the Roman Baths Museum, had right away an atmospheric lunch at The Pump Room before heading for a gorgeous treat at the Thermae Bath Spa. Food was delicious, some minor hiccups in service but overall a memorable experience.
Beautiful and historic, with excellent classic ambiance. Attended on a voucher for 3 course lunch, starter and main ok, just not my taste, dessert was excellent. Staff attentive, however very busy. Would reccommend for experience in Bath, however would have probably preferred an afternoon tea!
Excellent food in a spectacular historical setting. Live piano music made it even better. A must stop when visiting Bath
Very busy so noise level quite high but food and service outstanding. Plenty of refills of hot water for tea, boxes provided for take home leftovers, very pleasant experience. Definitely recommend booking.
So glad we booked as a big queue for a table. Excellent customer service and our waitress was so helpful and even sorted a dairy free Afternoon Tea for me. There is great selection to choose from whatever your appetite and we all enjoyed a glass of bubbles. Olivia looked after us and even took photos of us with the musicians. We looked forward to going back soon
As usual fabulous. It's almost what we come to Bath for, The Pump Room tea.
Really great service and food. Made you feel very welcome. Brilliant for a special occasion.
Amazing setting and wonderful customer service. We were waited on completely and nothing was too much trouble. It was slightly louder than expected but that’s onlg because we weee sat near the piano
Wonderful setting, loved the piano playing. Service was swift and attentive
We were looking for a nice place for afternoon tea, and the historic pump room seemed perfect. The setting was perfect, although a bit touristy. Service was okay, but food was good. A fun break spot for sure.
A must do if you're in Bath. Loaded with atmosphere. Save up, go along and enjoy the pomp and circumstance!!! Water nasty tho!
A lovely cream tea as a treat for a friend's birthday - although I had not said it was a birthday treat, the waitress overheard us toasting her with champagne & brought a birthday cake out with candle.
a lovely way to spend an afternoon
Good food in beautiful room, live music adds charm
Lovely place, shame about the tired staff. The mains were delicious but the side order of chips were cold.
Enjoyed the lovely 3 course lunch at this rather grand establishment. The entree and cheese were good, fish had a few too many bones to make it relaxing eating. A pianist was playing which was lovely - overall a lovely and quite 'english' experience that suited Bath.
I would recommend the Pump Room for Afternoon Tea, but not for lunch. It was disappointing.
Really lovely room the orchestra were playing when we first arrived which was very nice but not long after we were seated they packed up and left was a bit disappointing.
The food was really great the service a little slow.
But overall was very nice.
The pump room is absolutely beautiful however I did find the food to be disappointing. We booked the 3 course meal package with our entry to the Roman baths but I wish we would have chosen the afternoon tea option as that looked much more appetising.
Lovely experience for our anniversary. Booked the 'Romans to Georgians' package which included a tour of the baths & a glass of champagne before dinner in the pump room. Lovely grand room with the big chandelier & a pianist playing in the background. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff & good service. Reduced set menu with package but food was good. Think it was the first night they were open for dinner this year so not many people there & lacked a bit of atmosphere but it wasn't noisy, which we liked. Really enjoyed it.
I have had the high tea many times and it is always lovely. This is a perfect treat and I would recommend it as an essential part of your day out in Bath.
Absolutely stunning! Great value morning brunch, beautiful surroundings & fantastic service.
Lady started to play the piano as we were about to leave so we stayed to listen for a while.
Always a delight. The food was fresh, cooked and presented beautifully - it was a wonderful dining experience.
Food very disappointing. Fish cakes dry and tasteless. Tomato soup had really strange taste. Salmon sauce had skin on it, from standing around too long before serving or from reheating. Could not recommend food at all. Whereas came last year and food was excellent.
Amazing visit, I booked it as a surprise brunch for my husband whilst there on our honeymoon. The extra little cake with the candle and the pianist playing the wedding march made me cry, so lovely. Thank you
Our waiter disappeared after bringing the food.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the Pump Rooms. The atmosphere was lovely and we enjoyed the concert pianist. Food was excellent and the service good. Highly recommend.
Visit twice a year. Always love it. Thought food was exceptionally good this time. Staff as always first class. Loved the Chilean red.
We had been planning our very special trip to Bath England for months and wanted our first official English Afternoon Tea to be a memorable experience. We were disappointed, the service was slow despite not being that crowded ( I made a reservation months ahead but people just walked in off the street so it clearly wasn't necessary). The portions were small while the food was just okay- nothing to make an impression either way. The physical setting was elegant and some classical music was briefly provided ( 15 minutes). We can now say we had an afternoon tea at the Pump Room and have no plans to visit again.
We had a lovely table for two with views of the trio and of the room. The ambience takes the cake! We had the traditional Pump House Tea, which was fantastic. Champagne and tea rounded out the experience. Go hungry....there is a lot of foods n that tray!
The Pump Rooms is an historic place to have afternoon tea. The lovely music and good service make the experience really special.
The traditional afternoon tea was very good but almost too much for us, but we managed it!
We had a 1.45 booking and were not rushed to finish and leave, in fact we spent around 2 hours there enjoying the food, teas and atmosphere oh and the two glasses of champagne.
The overall visit was good apart from the last server we had who wasn’t interested in us & looked liked she didn’t want to be there
I had taken my mum there for her birthday & it ruined her visit
Food was not special, or hot. But the service was good very helpful waitress. The ambiance was the saving grace.
Waitress was not friendly and I felt rushed us throu
We had a wonderful time. I really love the dish I chose, the duck egg which made me love veggies I usually don't eat. The chocolate sundae was really decadent and yummy. Great ambiance.
Amazing food, really cool room and history behind it. Great service and overall an amazing experience.
A great place for a special occasion! The majestic setting and fabulous live music creates a wonderful environment for drinking and eating .
Always a lovely experience. Real treat. Already arranging next visit!
The room itself is amazing with a great atmosphere, and not too noisy even though it was full. The pianist and strings made it even better! The only disappointments were the small portions of food for quite a lot of money (but it was all very tasty) and having to ask repeatedly for glasses of water
Loved our lunch here at The Pump Room. Lovely ambience. Excellent food and service.
