It was a great experience coming here! As an avid Jane Austen reader, it was great to see the pump room in person! Service was great and food was delicious!
Wonderful afternoon! We enjoyed the traditional afternoon tea and one of our group had the savoury Somerset tea. The food was all delicious! The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely with a trio playing classical music. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful environment with piano music and delightful afternoon experience. It would be good to have more choice or a pick & mix on afternoon tea menu to cater more individually.
The food was very delicious and we had what I would say was the best table in the whole place, overlooking the river. The only downside to our evening was that I had requested a candle go in a dessert as we were there to celebrate my wife’s birthday but this was overlooked.
I would comeback if we are in Bath again though
Just lovely. The room, history, service and food. Loved every minute of our lunch.
We have been to the Pump Room on other occasions, and the standard never falls below very good. The staff are very attentive, the food very good, and the online booking procedure works very well. We look forward to our next visit.
Delightful afternoon tea with good service accompanied by a delightful pianist, the perfect ambience to a great afternoon.
Lovely atmosphere with the pianist/ classical music playing - not too loud either which was nice (though we were the other side of the room). Afternoon tea (the classic one) was plentiful but we felt the sandwiches weren’t quite the perfection you expect from a classic tea selection. If you’re going to do egg and cress, do it perfectly! The mini-patisseries were amazing though & we only managed 1 scone between two. We shared the classic and the Somerset tea which came with a cider which was a nice touch. If we’d gone for the Apple juice, I would have been disappointed with the amount of food for the price (£19.50 for scotch egg, (large) sausage roll & apple crumble loaf cake + cider or juice). Overall we had a lovely birthday treat in a beautiful building - that chandelier!!
Lovely experience, really enjoyed it, very relaxed would recommend
High tea in a Jane Austen setting,. A regency romance novel lover”s dream.
Thankyou staff at Pump Room, Bath. Marvellous food, super ambiance and caring waiting staff. I can not recommend enough. I will be back. Also the actual spa waters to drink taste Fantastic!
Afternoon Tea with Champagne was very tasty, the personal very kind, but we had reserved at 12.00 and we had to wait for the service. It is an ancient nice place, but there are lot of tourist. In anycase typical for Bath, I suppose.
Dining experience perfection.... !
Food was delicious and served quickly, waiting service from the time I arrived to the time I left was excellent, attentive, courteous and professional. I had brunch and the poached eggs with smoked salmon was the best I have I ever tasted. And for the ambience and venue, just amazing.!
Having visited over many years I was so hugely disappointed by everything.
The front door was not open although I had a booked table for 10:15 for breakfast.
There was confusion over my order and the Waitress dealt with my issue with lack of understanding and I had to just ‘put up with it’ as I had apparently misread the item ordered.
Was the fresh orange juice really freshly squeezed. I really do not believe it was
The tables are drab and what used to feel of class felt like a place to make easy money from tourists.
I was treating friends from another country and having said how wonderful it would be for breakfast I was embarrassed. I will not visit again.
Probably would suit more mature people, we visited as it was part of a Spa Deal. We booked and had a table available when we arrived, those who hadn't booked were waiting around an hour. Very nice lunch, good quality food with live concert style music.
We were lucky to receive our visit to the Pump Room as a gift from our daughter and son-in-law. We had booked online but we were early. It wasn't a problem, they were able to fit us in soon after we arrived. The Somerset tea was delicious and be warned, it was also very filling. I tried the warm spring water too and drank the whole glass. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was charming. It was a great experience.
The champagne afternoon tea was the purfect way to finish of our Anniversary. We had booked an Ancient and Modern package so had enjoyed a relaxing morning floating our troubles away in the Thermal Spa an planned to explore the Roman baths tomorrow morning. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bath City
Fantastic service and enjoyed the pianist who played happy birthday when a cup cake with a candle was presented to our friend which was totally unexpected and a lovely end to the afternoon tea.
Lovely food, attentive service and soothing music in an iconic location. Fish cakes were delightful.
Great service and range of choice for afternoon tea. Worth the experience, especially as they did something extra for my partners birthday.
The whole experience of having lunch in The Pump Room met my expectations. The food and ambiance was everything I could have wished for and the piano player was exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much effort for them.
The waiting staff are poorly organised. Instead of one person dealing with a set number of tables there are many doing odd jobs which makes for a disjointed service and some long waits for menus/courses etc. It could be that there are just not enough staff when times are busy.
Our waiter served the first portion of my meal, then forgot the second part when he went on break. No one else filled water glasses or asked if we needed anything. Had to ask another server to cancel balance of meal. No apologies from waiter or maitre’d.
I went with my mum for a very belated Mother's Day present and we had a lovely time. The food was lovely, the pianist very talented and our waiter was fantastic. I would say this is a must when you're in Bath. Booking on OpenTable was very easy too and I'm so glad I did as people were being turned away for tables for 2 due to a long wait
A lovely setting but food was nothing special and staff were a bit gruff/short. Probably something of a style over substance.
Having read lots of books set in the regency period, many set in Bath, visiting the Pump room was on my bucket list. I was so pleased with my visit there. A beautiful room, perfect for a delicious afternoon tea, whilst listening to beautiful music.
The whole experience was excellent. The room is well managed, the staff both courteous and attentive. The service is swift, yet not hurried. The food is superb, visually exciting, and tastes divine ...
Disappointing. Booked a few days before my birthday, had to wait half an hour when I arrived. My booking was 1 30pm, however I do like to arrive early. Food was rather disappointing, had the whole baked plaice which was dry and over cooked. Had to remind restaurant manager that I had a booking for 1 30pm. Otherwise, would have still been sitting in the reception area. Not good, won’t rush back.
We visited the Pump Room to celebrate a special birthday. We were seated close to the stage and were royally entertained by both the pianist and the trio that followed him. Our waiter was happy to explain details of all the food and took careful note of our special diet requirements. The food was excellent and although the Pump Room was busy we were not rushed to finish our meal. On letting slip the reason for our visit a cup cake with a candle appeared and the trio played Happy Birthday. The pot of tea to finish off our meal was made with real tea leaves. All in all a wonderful lunch with great memories created.
Service excellent, Food fine but really needed imaginative vegan option as well as vegetarian one.
Music far too loud and really spoiled our experience. Without the music, or much quieter music, and a vegan option, it could have been a very enjoyable experience.
The room is beautiful to look at, even more fun to eat in. The chatter wasn't too loud and allowed us all to hear the wonderful music.
We had two different kinds of teas. This included a pot for each of us and a variety of foods. They were delicious but the deserts could use some work. They were overly sweet.
Will go back again.
Service was very poor, we waited 15 minutes for them to produce a second pot of tea, and only 4 other tables were occupied at the time, so couldn’t claim they were busy! Waiters were quite brusque and surprised when I asked for the discretionary service charge to be removed.
Booked the Pump Room for my husband's 86th Birthday tea. He has Alzheimer's and, as we are reading Jane Austen out loud at home, it seemed appropriate to keep the 'theme' going. We were not disappointed. Lovely tea, lovely piano playing, lovely room, lovely weather, lovely sitting on deck chairs in lovely Parade Gardens later (lovely gate attendant there!)... Think by now, you've got the message!
Very expensive but hey whilst in Bath etc...….
I had pre-booked my table but after being shown to it I had to wait a long time for a server to take my order, and it wasn't that busy
Went to give visitors an English afternoon tea experience. Could not have chosen a better venue; white linen, excellent "tea", great service and classical music in the background. They were suitably impressed.
The food is good and at a very reasonable lunchtime set menu price. The ambience is very good too, with a pianist, and later a trio playing well known musical standards and classical pieces quietly in the background. But the service, although friendly, was very slow. The lunch took well over two hours with long waits between courses.
Had the Traditional Pump Room Tea and it was very enjoyable. Nicely presented and tasty food. We weren't offered a tea refill and didn't realise until afterwards that it was included in the package we had paid for, which was rather disappointing (would suggest this could be pointed out to patrons when they order and the server make at least one offer to refill during the meal).
Estupendo afternoon tea con música clásica en directo. El salón es muy bonito y el servicio muy bueno. Calidad precio muy bien. Lo único que eché en falta es más variedad de tés, lo demás fantástico. Lo recomiendo.
Excellent experience at the pump rooms for afternoon tea. One of our party required a gluten free diet and was extremely well catered for. The staff were kind and helpful and obviously the setting was breathtaking.
A very special dining experience not to be missed. The food was outstanding and there was a lovely ambience with the pianist and the trio playing in the background.
