The Pump Room
This visit to the Pump Room has been on my bucket list for years and it exceeded our expectations by far.
Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and level of service.
We WILL be back, soon!
A lovely Christmas lunch with my sister. The food was wonderful and beautifully presented. The dining room was a delight as was the gentle music provided by the pianist and then a string trio and our waitress was very attentive
Everything I imagined it would be. Beautiful regency surroundings, my table was right next to the Kings spring. Lovely piano music accompanied a scruption afternoon tea. The waitress we had was brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. The only down side was the gentleman who seated us was a bit brisk, I was on crutches and didn't make sure my path way was cleared. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience.
Afternoon tea in the beautiful Pump Room. Service was a little slow, we waited about 10 minutes for a menu, but after that hitch very friendly and attentive. The Pump Room Trio added to the atmosphere of this fantastic building. Here for the Christmas market, which we enjoyed immensely.
The Afternoon Tea was brilliant and the ambiance of The Pump Room added to the experience.
My only grip and it’s not massive but after eating our tea it took a long time to check that we wanted the bill. When it came no one else came to take the money.
The scones were also a little stale.
Great afternoon overall and you won’t leave hungry from this tea.
the service was poor and slow, the food, although beautifully presented and also delicious, it was only just lukewarm and the portion was rather small. For this reason, I would not recommend to anyone.
I was greeted by my first name which I really appreciated, it made me feel very welcome. The two waiters who served us throughout made excellent recommendations from the afternoon tea menu, including the cocktails. They were attentive but not intrusive- pitched just right.
If I lived locally I would definitely visit twice a week at least.
Thank you to everyone who made the afternoon memorable.
excellent - great for a special occasion and well worth the visit
food lovely but not cheap
Had a really lovely meal in a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend friends and will come back next year to the Christmas markets
Absolutely I took some friends from Birmingham they loved it
Lovely place, however the staff were unfriendly, not one smile amongst them!
Lovely experience, harking back to a more genteel time. Food was very good. There seemed to be a shortage of staff, particularly when waiting to be seated.
I had a pleasant afternoon tea with champagne. The food was very good with balanced flavours and it was nicely presented. The scones were especially tasty. There was PLENTY of food and it was possible to bring leftovers home, if desired. The tea was very good, floral and with distinct flavours. During our visit the staff took good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. There was live piano music with appropriate sound level and seasonal tunes (Christmas), which was very nice. The noise levels were moderate and it was easy to keep a normal conversation going. I'd be happy to come back to the Pump Room and try other parts of the menu. All in all, I'd recommend the Pump Room for anyone looking for a nice meal with pleasant atmosphere.
What a fantastic experience. We had vouchers for a three course lunch as part of the ancient and modern spa package. The food was amazing with such a varied selection. We were well looked after by the staff. The pianist and other musicians were a joy to listen to and added tot the experience. It was such a lovely atmosphere.
Stunning room, elegant atmosphere with friendly greeting, Pump Room Trio playing in the background - talented but unobtrusive - and breakfast with champagne served smoothly and with style. A good memory.
Amazing afternoon tea in a beautiful building, highly recommend
It was a lovely afternoon at the pump room. Lovely food and musicians playing as well!
A unique location. Lovely and friendly staff.
Nice food and live music.
We took my mum for a birthday lunch and the food was outstanding. Great portion sizes and really tasty. Would definitely go back. Lovely to have the live music too.
Lovely setting and food but the waitress seemed to forget about us after we had placed our order.
None of the staff asked if we were ok and several people who came in after us received their food before we did.
Rather disappointing in such a special place.
Great food, beautiful surroundings, brilliant pianist.
Ordered poached egg with smoked salmon but served with cooked salmon fillet. Very poor.
Very nice tea for my sister's 70th birthday treat. She was greeted with a 'Happy Birthday' from staff and a little cake with a candle presented with the musicians playing happy birthday. She was thrilled. The staff were attentive and the tea excellent.
This was our second visit this year.
Both occasions were immensely enjoyable in all respects.
The Pump Room setting is very beautiful and having classical musicians play while you dine make the whole experience very atmospheric and brings history to life.
The food was excellent, the finger sandwiches were delicious and the scones and clotted cream were sumptuous! The afternoon tea is quite large but the staff will give you a takeaway box if you cannot finish your meal.
The service was just right between helpful but not overbearing and although it is always busy it was not too loud that conversation was difficult and there was plenty of space between tables. It was my nieces birthday and if you inform the staff prior to your visit the musicians will play happy birthday.
Beautiful setting, amazing food, great service from attentive waitress, nothing too much trouble and lovely little boxes to take home what we could not eat. Will certainly return
Very nice experiencience, the ambience and the food were great.
Visited the pump room again since last year.
Food was very good, but unfortunately the Service let it down. We had to wait 30 minutes for a Main Course!!!!!!
Beautiful dining area with live classical style music. Staff were outstanding- friendly, professional and very attentive despite pressure of covers that day. We had afternoon tea with all food fresh and delicious, plenty of teas and drinks to choose from. We were so comfortable it was hard to leave!
The Pump Rooms were a welcome escape from the Bath Christmas Markets. The Afternoon Tea was delicious and the waiters were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
This was the perfect start to our mum and daughter day in Bath. The lovely tranquil setting and ambiance set us up for battling the crowds at the Christmas Market. We will definitely return for the famous Pump Room Afternoon Tea on our next visit.
A unique and lovely room, with views out the very large windows into the Ancient Roman Baths next door. That alone makes this place a worthwhile visit for Brunch.
All perfect, the only anomalous is the paper napkin, in an environment so elegant and rich in history I would have like them with cotton or linens
We had an incredibly pleasant high tea at the Pump Room. We were especially appreciative of the staff who made accommodations for us despite our delayed arrival.
It is always best to book a table at popular times. Despite the buzz of the Christmas Markets the Pump room was, as always, relaxed and hospitable. We love it!
Service was excellent food excellent not kept hanging around great to have a round table wheelchair fitted underneath so not stuck at an angle eating awkwardly. Thank you for great experience.
First time here and loved it. Lovely food, professional staff and a great atmosphere.
100% going back!
The Afternoon Tea was the best I have ever had. The sandwiches and pastries were delicious and the ambiance and atmosphere was on point. We also had wonderful service from Donna.
Good experience - food, ambiance, service all good and live piano music in background added to occasion - for me 4 star but almost 5 star
Fourth time we’ve been and it won’t be the last! Full marks to the 3-piece band to the excellent service.
