Country pub and restaurant with a beer garden overlooking the picturesque Brede valley. Great value set menu during the week and a Good Food Guide Top 50 Roasts in Britain listed Sunday lunch.

Good Food Guide Best 100 Pubs in Britain 2025 (#20).

Our food offer is pub classics made incredibly as well as creative cooking, whilst being ingredient led. We primarily use British produce and work with local suppliers to ensure we always source the very best ingredients we can get our hands on. Inside we have a warm atmosphere with log fires and friendly service.

    It was a bit noisy (Friday night!), but the service was very good and the food was of high quality and very obviously freshly prepared. All in all, a nice experience and reasonably priced.

    Friendly, helpful, attentive service, lovely atmosphere, well designed, comfortable and food was outstanding. From homemade soda bread, terrine and brown butter, skate wing with mussel sauce, battered haddock, baked celeriac, everything tasted delicious and looked beautiful

    Delicious Sunday Lunch, warm and friendly but efficient service , a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back with friends and highly recommend.

    We went for Sunday lunch and it was the best roast we’ve had in a long time and our side of cauliflower cheese was delicious. The staff are friend and helpful and the atmosphere relaxed. The only drawback was we couldn’t go outside to enjoy the beautiful view as they were doing renovations. Would highly recommend.

    Always a lovely ambience and warm welcome at The Plough……. Mary is a lovely host and everything runs smoothly. Delicious food, and attentive service highly recommend!

    The staff were very helpful from when we first arrived they didn’t disappear when we came in. Food took a while but we expect that and it didn’t bother us as it was nice and hot fresh and substantial. Second visit here and both were a lovely experience. Long may this pub stay.

    Booked a Saturday evening dinner. Prompt and very helpful service. Really good local food beautifully presented. Tasty deserts too. A little more choice with starters would be appreciated. Overall, a fab evening.
