Sat down at 6:30 and food arrived at 8:15. Ridiculous wait. Server didn’t even come to refill drinks. Won’t go back.

After a previous visit a year ago that left us in no hurry to return, we thought we’d give The Old Jail House another try and so glad we did. Dillon, our server, was super helpful and professional throughout our time there. We had the beef empanadas as a starter which was very tasty and the two salmon options for mains; both were delicious.

This really unique place was tempered by the very poor service and worse, the food. I will say that we were told, about 1/2 hour into waiting for our drink order to be filled, that they were having computer issues, I have to believe that was true 3 hours into a evening meal with 3 other couples. Drinks didn't arrive at first, then extra drinks not ordered did,=. I had ordered their chicken "pounded and breaded chicken breast, cavatappi pasta, grilled bok choy fontina cheese and marinara sauce" Chicken not pounded, no bok choy! You would think if they were going to substitute green beans because they were "out of bok choy" they would have a) informed me before they made that substitution and b) COOKED the green beans. They did neither. My wife ordered the black n blue dinner which included flank steak. Turned out to be FLANKLESS. Maybe they had an off nite because of the computer issues. Give it a try because it is a very interesting place.

Overall this was a disappointing experience; we were excited to try The Old Jailhouse and picked it for a date night. We were seated in a room with 4 other tables, one table had left over plates and wasn’t cleared until half way through our meal. The service was very slow but when we did see our server they were very rushed. They took our order and left quickly, we wanted to order a second round of drinks but were never asked and never got the chance. The food was mediocre; I don’t care for goat cheese and there were a lot of goat cheese featured dishes on the menu. The dishes we did try were fine but not something we’d come back for. Overall I think this is a touristy destination spot that’s better for groups. We ended up going somewhere else for another drink and dessert because we were never asked if we wanted them and didn’t want to have to wait any longer for our server to come back.

We were delightfully surprised with this restaurant. The ambiance and feel of the restaurant is incredibly great. We were seated at a table in a "cell," which lent itself to the overall theme. We were greeted by our server. We found it odd that he did not ask if we wanted a drink, but he did pour water for us. He came back a reasonable time later and asked if we were ready to order our dinner, which we did. Still not asking if we wanted a drink. We had decided to see if this question was ever going to be asked and it was not. The food was very well-prepared and delighted the palette. The portion was not overly large but did not disappoint in any way. When we finished dinner, the waiter came by to take the plates. He did not ask if we wanted dessert. We did not want to miss out on that, so we asked for dessert. It came and was just as pleasing as the meal. Overall, this is a restaurant that we will travel the two hours to revisit. Waiters have off days, so while he failed to mention a few things, this was well overlooked due to the meal itself. I would highly recommend it.

Last night was our first time dining at The Jailhouse. The meal and service were wonderful, althogh a bit expensive. It was cool eating in a "jail cell", however, there were only 4 tables and it was extremely loud!
