The Grounds of Alexandria Cafe
No water or menus given and had to go up and request high chair again along with colouring things.
When finished didn't know where to pay had to find the waitress as they didn't return to us after meals.
Disappointed with value for money with one of one of the meals but all meals were tasty.
I would recommend based on the themed decorations and coffee / food, but after coming to The Grounds since it opened way back, I’m disappointed at the standards of cleanliness. Particularly the bathrooms. Broken tap handles, dirty floors and rubbish bins or out of order toilets on our last visit at The Potting Shed. Someone efficiently arrived and took my plate before I finished eating as I was distracted feeding my baby. I never gave feedback on the Mothers Day event but my preference ran out and then our meal was served 1.5 hours after being seated. With a toddler that didn’t make for a great Mother’s Day experience.
We’ve been huge fans of The Grounds for a long time and have brought visitors to Sydney there, but our last two visits have been lack lustre.
Would be better if lunch and breakfast menu are served all day! Instead of just being breakfast till 11:45am.
Everything was great, except for the drink that I had (choc shot I think it was called) was not great and I didn't finish it.
Loved the presentation of the food- unfortunately tea was bitter. Would have preferred it in a tea cup
The area is amazing. A very good place for people who would like to take some insta pictures
Beautiful loved it Will definitely be back as often as possible.Had a delicious lunch and deserts to die for.All round great experience!
We made a reservation for a weekday lunch. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived and were taken to our table near the kitchen. The noise levels were so bad it was hard to talk. Wait staff fairly attentive but had to try and get their attention several times. Coffee good, deconstructed mocha could use another shot. Main lunch - Mediterranean bowl good, hamburger not great, chips good, barramundi sandwich - black bread too small, barramundi good, sauces good. Overall not good value and not such an enjoyable experience. A shame as I had really been looking forward to going here.
We were sat right next to the kitchen, it was therefore noisier. But we had a wonderful time, great food and lovely place.
I’m from Melbourne and had heard about the Grounds from a friend and had looked forward to visiting and it didn’t disappoint!! The place was amazing, the atmosphere and small touches were really great. Food was fresh, full of beautiful flavours and good quality. We spent all day, going from cafe, to potting shed and wandering around. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back!
It was an awesome experience, the only thing we missed was to have haloumi cheese as a side but apart from that everything was perfect.
Great place to take the kids. Beautiful gardens and live farm animals.
I was so excited to visit the famous Ground of Alexandria but the combination of rude, pushy staff, and lacklustre menu left a lot to be desired. The menu online is completely different to that of the one online. Nothing excited me. I hadn’t seen a friend in years and this was our reunion. We chatted initially not looking at the menu with excitement of seeing each other. Wait staff came to us 4 times using a rather annoyed tone at the fact we hadn’t decided yet. When we had eventually finished our food it was as if wait staff couldn’t wait to get rid of us. I don’t mind this type of behaviour when it is busy but there were multiple tables free and so I didnt understand the urgency of us vacating our table. Won’t be returning and will not recommend to a friend.
Everything about the Grounds was beautiful, like being immersed in a fairytale. The food was decent but not amazing and a little overpriced. The chocolate hazelnut shake was divine though, and worth going back for on its own. Definitely worth a visit to experience this special place!
Perfect in every way😜
Great way to start my daughters birthday
We absolutely love the Grounds, great place to take friends or family visiting, every meal has been a delight and it feels special going there
recommend to take out the food to the garden instead of eating in
Reunion with beat friends
Great place for breakfast. Very busy, so advise to book ahead.
Omelette was dry and overcooked. Breakfast burger was less to be desired. I normally wouldn't mind spending $70 for brunch if the food was amazing but this was so disappointing not even the ambience and coffee was enough to save it.
Fantastic View and Food !
Great service, beautiful setting & fantastic food. Thank you
To be honest, I was pretty disappointed. This place is so highly spoken of so was expecting better.
Upon arriving, no one greets you. Waited to be seated and the guy was borderline rude, his customer service skills were pretty bad.
Then got seated, it’s a pretty noisy and crowded place.
Partners coffee came and then I waited approx 10mins for mine. Food came straight out, no time to drink some coffee before. The food was nice, I had the omelette, but definitely over priced. No cutlery on the table, lipstick on my water glass and staff that don’t look pleased to be there. Won’t be going back. Only highlight of the trip there was the markets!
Far too busy and staff were rude. Tried to take my drink away on three occasions despite it still being half full, and hadn’t eaten. 30 minute wait for food and people queuing to pay their bill right beside my table. I had been looking forward to eating here for months, not sure I’ll go back. Seemed like a conveyor belt which is a shame.
The food and atmosphere were amazing. Seating is slightly tight, hard to bring a pram. However, lovely restaurant overall.
This is the second time my food has come barely warm to me while dining at the grounds. I was the only one at the table so I didn’t make a big deal about it but I wouldn’t recommend it.
i only did the booking in the early morning and confirmation was received
however i was running late and i called the guy that answered the phone kindly extended my reservation to 30 minutes
waitress was able to attend to us and provide our orders very quick despite of busy morning and again enjoyed my experience in Grounds. staff are always asking in case we need water, anything else
very good experience and also enjoyed the Maleficent theme around the place
Waitress didn’t enter my order and the kitchen closed in the meantime and ended up not receiving any meal.
It’s not the same as what it used to be. It’s now a busier restaurant and the service is very impersonal. The host was particularly rude when seating us. The waiter leaned over the table, made no eye contact. We weren’t offered tea/coffee or dessert at the end of our lunch. Staff appeared stretched. There was a feeling that it was a production type environment, seating and rotating patrons for the purpose of optimisation.
The food doesn't taste well. Outdoor takeaway is much better than indoor eating.
Exceptional quality food and service. Fantastic atmosphere and the decor is visionary. A flower arrangement behind my head on the inside bench seats was annoying. The music was pumping which for me didn’t fit with the vision but everything else was great. I ordered the vegetarian big breakfast. It was SO big!!!! And YUM!
Love the ever changing menu. The taste and presentation never disappoint. There's so much to explore both inside and outside the cafe. It's a beautiful venue for all occasions. I highly recommend this place for all ages.
It really have to go to this restaurant!!! Nice coffee and meal. And especially they have a great place to let people go around after we finished our breakfast~
I was expecting a better menu, with more food options.
It was noisy and crowded but it was expected as it was a public holiday.
I think 15% surcharge is over the top
The whole experience was amazing, great atmosphere, staff were amazing! Food was to die for ! Everything was perfect thank you
Fantastic service. We ordered within 10 minutes of arriving and our food came out about 5 minutes later, I was astonished at how fast the service was. Coffee was great too. Always love visiting and will definitely be back again.
Food was good. Staff were great considering how busy it was. It was just extremely loud, you couldn’t hear the person next to you without leaving in cheek to cheek and speaking very loudly.
It was my first time at the Grounds and I was impressed with the quality of food and coffee. Also the staff was extremely friendly. I will definitely come back again.
We booked online only to arrive early and table was not ready. Was told to come back which we did at 11am and was placed outside with elderly parents. Asked to be inside with air conditioning and was told additional 25 minutes wait. We waited with no further table was ready and no service provided. By now we had waited almost 2 hours and we ended up leaving. We grabbed takeaway cake from patisserie area and coffee from bar area. Loved the ground and ambiance but not impressed with service, restaurant or long wait times.
