The food was delightful. The ceasar salad had a light lemon herb flavor and the steak perfect - it was rare with a nice char. My favorite was the mashed potatoes which were heaven - light and the hint of apple just made the delicious. And, the mushrooms are well worth it.
The service was not terrific and timing was off. Add the price of the meal and I would say it wasn’t a great value.
This is a sister restaurant to Mi Vida, Succotash and others and doesn't disappoint. The dinner menu is modest yet diverse. The duck-liver deviled eggs with caviar are a bargain starter at $2. Raw oysters were fresh and perfectly shucked. I opted for pork ribs, but there are some fantastic beef options ("from the Josper" charcoal oven) that we will certainly try on a return visit. The sides are star quality. We had the Mushrooms in port reduction, pimento mac&cheese, and twice-baked potato with lardons.
Excellent food and service. The best place at the wharf. Must visit.
What a fabulous meal and environment. We had some friends that we wanted to take out for a special evening, and starting from the fabulous drinks thru to dinner everything was perfect.
It was delightful.
From the moment we walked in, we were treated so well, the food was outstanding, and our server, Ebony, was truly perfect. She gave us the best recommendations, and she made sure our experience was special. The food itself was fantastic, and if you go here is my recommendation:
Grilled cheese - must have
Crab cake - total treat
Twice baked potato - perfection and comfort food at its best
House salad - delicious but not necessary
Chocolate cake - perfect for three people for a birthday and SO delicious!

The food was bland. The drinks were amazing and the customer service was IMPECCABLE!!!! So I have mixed feelings but they were super duper nice so............I’ll be back for the drinks.

Love this new delicious spot! This was my 2nd visit and I cant wait to go back! The first time I went I enjoyed some very well made cocktails at the bar with a few friends. Love the decor and the overall vibe. The food smelled so good I knew I would be back soon. The following weekend I returned with my husband and another couple. We were given a great table and the service was professional and timely. But oh the food!!!! We had amazing appetizers: lamb skewers and deviled eggs. But the highlight of the meal was the rib eye steak with chimichurri sauce with sides of eggplant and duck fat green beans!! Amazing! So excited for this delicious new restaurant and I cant wait to go back!
Big fan of this place! I thought about my meal for 24 hours straight after eating here. The grilled cheese is amazing. I was really hoping to get a dish cooked on the josper, but their only josper-cooked fish selection was farm-raised salmon from NZ (what? Why would you get farm-raised fish from across the world #NotSustainable) and Red Snapper (the menu incorrectly lists Black Bass as an option). I ended up ordering the Halibut (not cooked on the josper), and it was fantastic. The Lime Pie (no “key” in the name. I guess they didn’t use actual key limes. Perhaps limes from NZ) was good as well. Great selection of mixed drinks and wine.
The Grill was very good overall. In hindsight I would have ordered the steak without the herbed butter, as I felt it over powered the very good cut. Cooked perfectly. Crab cake entree fantastic. Our server, Eric, was the highlight of our meal. He was well educated on the menu and made great recommendations. Will be back.

Pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious, particularly enjoyed the All the Bites appetizer, and the sides are delish! I made a meal from a few of those. Best restaurant weve eaten at at the Wharf, god value for money. Nice sized portions. Service was on point, even though they just opened.
Came here for a dinner with one of my girlfriends and our moms. The perfect atmosphere for an upscale group dinner. Not too loud (always a complaint from my parents). A variety of price points on the menu and good sized portions. The service was OK, I felt like for the upscale vibe of the restaurant the service would have been a little better. Random side note, they do not bring you any bread to eat before your meal, kind of disappointing.
I hate to review a restaurant open only two weeks. They are still working out their kinks. Having said that, I'd go back tomorrow. The restaurant is very spacious but is broken up nicely and the food was excellent. The only reason the review isn't perfect was because we felt rushed with our meal, which really bothers me unless I've told them I'm in a rush.
Excellent overall. My date started with an an fab cocktail, which was excellent. We got a sampler of several appetizers including lamb skewers, shrimp, and salmon rillete, which was outstanding with large portions.For main courses, we had a filet mignon and the black bass. Both were superb. Great service! We will be back.
The service was excellent-still a new establishment working out things but attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The sommelier is awesome-knowledgeable, not pretentious.
Quite pleased with my first experience at "The Grill." The ambience is quite lovely, very Miami Vogue with a hint of mad men in it coupled with a danish modernism flair. Lot of natural tones throughout. Went with a large group and subsequently ordered a bit of everything. The food across the board was excellent. There was one or two dishes that felt like they were missing a little something here and there but overall for a just opened restaurant I couldn't be happier. The crab dip was meaty and full of crab, the ribeye tendered and cooked perfectly and the cream spinach was my favorite. Where The Grill really shone was service. Our waiter was excellent. Polite and knowledgeable and observant to our needs without hovering. The Management Team was also present on the floor and from my observation very hands on. They greeted our table and one took special care to take a picture of our table. I had also brought in my own bottle of wine which the Sommelier was kind enough to Decant for me. Overall a near perfect experience and I expect that it will only get better as time passes.
Fantastic dining experience. Both the food and service were amazing! It was hard to believe that The Grill has been open less than a week because they don’t seem to have the issues that lost restaurants have when first opening. I will definitely be back!
Beautiful layout, decor, and view!!! With 60 Gin's on the cocktail menu, this place is a welcomed addition to the Wharf.
Prices are expensive but this is probably the best steak I've had in DC.

Fantastic experience across the board. The chef was on point with perfectly executed King Salmon, crab cakes, sweet potatoes, apple mashed potatoes. Everything was exquisite!!!
Most of the food is not inexpensive but the prices, at least of the mains, may be compensated for by the fact that you will have leftovers to bring home. The portion of my porkchop was immense. The grilled cheese "bite" was a notably good deal; my wife liked her non-alcoholic drink quite a bit; she also liked the ribs. In fact, all of the food was quite tasty. The place has a nice vibe too, with the tables not on top of each other, a generally airy feel.
The food was really impressive, platting, flavor, and options. The vibe was really neat and will be wonderful in the summer. It's a great date night stop, girls night stop, or out town foodie dinner spot. The service was great, they had only been open a day so it wasn't super busy but service was nice and had a good understanding of everything on the menu, our table was cleaned often and water was never below half. I would recommend and look forward to going back.
