The Foundry Rooftop restaurant is located on the sixth floor of the AC Hotel in downtown Dayton. Inspired by the fire within foundries, the factories that produce metal castings, this wood-fired kitchen embraces the flame. Devour new takes on internally-inspired cuisine with our Loaded Potato Pizza and Ingot Crab Crakes, or our signature Foundry Reuben and Charred Meatballs. Hearty, midwestern favorites from Chef's David Belknap and Jason Findley anchor our menu like our Crispy Pork Belly and 24-Hour Chicken. And with a combination of smoked whiskeys, classic cocktails, and local beers, you’ll always have the perfect pairing of spirits to enhance the heat of your meal. We arrived for our reservation 10 minutes early and were seated at an outdoor table. We were told our server would be with us shortly. After a half hour of no service, not even waters, and many servers not taking our table, we left the restaurant. Very Disappointing! This was a Saturday night at 6:00pm and The Foundry was only maybe 60% capacity. We talked to the hostess as we left, my impression was she didn’t seem surprised.

They have a good menu and a great wine list. Our server Shelby was very nice and helpful. But they seemed overwhelmed. I had to wait for about 10 minutes after my reservation time before being sat. Also waiters kept running into our table because it was so crowded and they weren't watching where they were walking. I'll go back on a weeknight. Not a weekend, it's too busy.

We sat on the rooftop terrace. Lovely spot, very quiet on a Thursday night. I had the sea scallops and my husband had the short ribs. Both were great. We had the calamari as an appy and that was great too. We were joined by two other couples and our server, Morgan, did a wonderful job. We really enjoyed our first visit to The Foundry.

My wife and I went there for dinner on Saturday, Aug. 31. My wife had been there once before, while it was the first time for me. The food was excellent as was the service. It had a nice view, and we enjoyed watching the end of the Dragons game from the rooftop after dinner. However, they had a DJ that night playing music that was inappropriate and way too loud for a sit down restaurant--more appropriate for a nightclub or something. We had trouble conversing with each other, the waitress, and the people at the table next to us. I observed a number of couples come in and then leave after only one drink. I don't know whether this was just a one-time thing or a Saturday night thing or what. My wife did not recall this being a problem when she was there previously. Because of this, I don't know if we will go back. Too bad because everything else was great.

Our server had an attitude with some of our guests and our food all came out at different times. The server had an attitude when the guest that were waiting on their food asked when their food was coming.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. I just wish I hadn't left my leftovers in the hotel fridge.

This was the first time for me at the Foundry Restaurant and it was my understanding that they have only been open for about one year. However, the service was horrible. I am not sure what was going on, but our waiter had no clue what was going on. We waited forever between visits to our table, and he didn't even know that we hadn't ordered. They told us they were out of the Foundry Lager, so we ordered another drink only to have them come out with the beer's minutes later plus the mixed drinks showed up as well. ???? In the end the food was pretty good it but we waited an awful long time, and the wait staff seemed very confused. I asked our waiter to provide me with a receipt after I paid the bill only to find out that he went home without bringing me a receipt. I had to ask another waiter to print me a copy which took her some time to find. Geez The atmosphere was nice and again the food was above average, I just have never seen such confusion among the wait staff.

Good food when they have it, but I have been here 3 times and every time I've had to make alternate choices because my first choice wasn't available. The bar could really use some improvement - drinks are medicore at best. The location, ambiance and views can't be beat - amazing place to watch sunsets and enjoy a drink outside.

It’s a nice restaurant, the cocktails were good and so was the service, I had the Wagyu Short rib that was great and my date got the loaded baked potato pizza she didn’t care for it, but over all great place with a great view from the outside terrace
