Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Fabulous steak cooked to perfection we had fillet and sirloin ! Lots of options for sides . We had Parmesan fries and sauces including pepper corn and marrow bone gravy both delicious

We were hoping for a better placed table maybe somewhere quieter or a booth. I had pre booked to say it was a 40th and 50 th celebration . We were seated in the window near the door. Service was quick although a little more time to decide on food and drinks would have been nice , it was very busy in York and we got the sense we were being a little rushed. Overall the food was lovely and our waiter was brilliant though. I have had better visits so did come away slightly disappointed due it being for special occasions.

Food very poor, fatty, undercooked, cold, missing elements and string from the meat still in the dish!

Cut & craft york food was outstanding . I got ribeye steak which melted in mouth and my hubby haf the sesbass which he said was beautiful.. the staff were wonderful too straight there to take your order . I cant say enough about the place

Very good food as always however came away disappointed due to not received the birthday sorbet that was promised for my sister who was celebrating her birthday that day. I had rang ahead to arrange something special for her which this was agreed with however no member of staff made an effort to know this on the day.
