It has been a pleasure! We are coming back soon
Visited for a Sunday roast. The place is nice and the food looks good. A very chewy roast beef and the service was slow. Overall it was ok but doubt I would go back.
Good place although the menu is rather limited
You will have also good time in cross keys given good atmosphere
Having persuaded some friends to drive down from Hampstead ( after sending them the menu online!) we were seated, ordered a bottle of water and the waiter mumbled something about toast not being available. I’m still not clear whether the 3 options on the ‘menu’ they gave us were available as one of those was roasted . When we asked what was going on we were told sorry we had a very busy day so we don’t have much food left! They had the cheek to bring us £3+ bill for the water so I’m not at all sure that they really were sorry for the inconvenience. Shame
This might be the best roast I've had in London, but the service really wasn't good. A couple of tables around us complained. Hoping it was a one off, I'd definitely go back to find out.
I've been to the Cross Keys several times as I love the athmosphere!!! The pub is very welcoming, dog friendly and nicely decorated. The service is always friendly as well! The food is generally very good but last Saturday we were with a group of seven and four of us had a steak for the first time there and we were quite dissapointed by the quality of the meat. It wasn't tender and over cooked. That being said, the traditional burger, bangles and mash or pork belly are always great and you will definetly enjoy your evening!
Booked for Valentine's Day. For a 7pm booking I was surprised to hear the lobster that was on the Valentine's menu had already sold out. Who goes for Valentine's meals earlier than 7pm?? It wasn't busy on arrival so not sure where the lobster crawled off too. However did see another couple send theirs back so perhaps all was not lost. As we were not offered an alternative (overheard another couple offered this option later) we both had steak (sadly off the main menu at a higher price) which was excellent. Service lacked a smile at every opportunity. One girl looked like she wished she was elsewhere, which is how we felt by the end of it.
Lovely place, very good food and great service in a beautiful location.
Good overall but has deteriorated from its great status only a few months ago. The service is now only fair compared to very good in the past. Also the menu has gone from great to just OK. I am not sure what is driving these changes. Perhaps the owners are more focussed on expansion now (they recently bought the Admiral Codrington and some other pubs). I hope the Cross Keys will return to its former great status soon!!
lovely vibe and atmosphere but food was disappointing - pork belly- not much flavor and not crispy crackling top and sea bass was quite small- not much to it.
despite this will be back and will order the roast- looked great.
Not up to it's usual standard food wise hopefully just a poor night. Staff always very friendly
Love the atmosphere at the Cross Keys but let down by the uninspired menu on this occasion. Very different from previous visits when you almost had to choose everything on the menu so that you didn't feel as if you were missing out. Our server said this is because it's a quiet time of the year but it was full. Put it this way I can't remember the last I had to order the burger because nothing else on the menu stood out!
Back in a months time hope it's not the quite season still!?
very nice food and service is good and atmosphere is lovely, they just need to get highchairs as our babies had nowhere to sit!
Been a regular to the this establishment. Not sure if the chef had a day off but this time food was below average. Tasteless gnocchi, dry and bland beef burgers, small and not very tender steak. For a £15 burger you would expect more. Sea bream and Cornish sole were OK. Will be going there soon for lunch and I do hope that food will be much better otherwise it will just be a pub for the occasional drink.
great place for a family get together / catch up - good food / wine list and excellent service
Great local gastro pub, takes pub dining to the next level
Have been here 3 times now. Once for Sunday roast and recently again for lunch on a Saturday and Sunday lunch again most recently.
First time we reserved and got an early table. Service was good and food was enjoyable. No problems.
Second time was impromptu lunch on a Saturday. Nothing special. Food was very average, most likely heated from frozen or so it tasted.
Last time was Sunday lunch again. We reserved as it is dog friendly (the only positive now as far as I'm concerned). We got a later table for 3.15 got there right on time and waited about 10 minutes to be seated. No big drama.
Seated and ordered in decent time. Starter came quick - it was only bread and hummus. Asked for more bread, as only two pieces come with hummus (for 4 people). Came in no time.
We had 3 roast beefs and a roast chicken off the Sunday Roast menu. We waited about an hour to receive it and it took them a long time to clear up our starter. Granted the place starts to fill up more the later it gets, but there a problem.
We eventually received our roasts, a while after a couple next to us (whom were sat considerably later than we were). Beef was bland tasting and very dry. Vegetables were average.
We ate (hastily due to hunger). We ordered 2 desserts - a chocolate fondant which I cancelled and a tarte tatin which might as well have been baked from scratch such was the wait we endured!
We don't know what went wrong but they seem to have a staffing and kitchen issue and problems communicating.
Will not be coming again unless for convenience. Plenty of other pubs that allow dogs.
Love it here. Food is excellent and good value. Busy atmosphere making it great to while away time with friends.
The food was amazing as usual but sadly the service again only so so
The starters and desserts were phenominal but the roast dinner was average - the beef in particular was very chewy and slightly dry.
Service was slow, inconsistant and not what I would expect from a high end pub like this, but the atmosphere was lovely and chilled on a Sunday afternoon where Bloody Mary's seemed to be the order of the day for the majority of customers.
On a recommendation I would definitely recommend to all my friends. A great bohemian atmosphere, will definitely be back.
The food is beautiful but the service is unfortunately not at the same level. Once you order the food comes quite quickly but getting the attention of a waiter can become a mission! Great ambience and beautiful lighting
We like this restaurant as we are locals but the service is so bad, the food was great good value for money.
Excellent service, good food and relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend to friends. Dogs also welcome!
Another excellent lunch at this lively and bustling venue. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The staff are warm and friendly. The food is excellent. There is an informal and relaxed atmosphere and it is always busy. Book early (you will not be disappointed) otherwise you have to eat early or late to enjoy a superb meal.
Lovely pub but the experience was disappointing. Pudding (banana soufflé) was delicious but the roast (pork) was very bland. Service was mixed. Overall, expensive for what it was. A shame. I'd go back there for pudding only.
Good food and nice atmosphere even though the service both at the bar and at the table was quite slow. Wine list was decently priced for Chelsea
Love this local gastro pub! One of my absolute favourites
I have visited the cross keys several times. The food is always good, service friendly and its a great place to meet up with friends
Lovely food in a relaxed setting with very attentive service.
Service good and friendly. Nice atmosphere if a bit noisy. Trout good, but Roast beef and roast duck rather tough - could and should be much better for the price.
Great dinner with friends from outside of London! Very nice atmosphere, excellent service, tasty food.
A thoroughly pleasant experience overall. Definitely one to repeat.
Great food, service staff were stretched and not that attentive
Loved this new discovery via a friend - will definitely be back there very soon
Slow service but lovely atmosphere
Sunday roasts are quite good. And generous. The puddings are a waste of time. Blackberry Soufflé bland and tasteless and the Nectarine Tarte Tatin over sweetened and bland. Nectarines don't taste of much as it is and to make aTarte Tatin with them is just a waste of time. Expensive too.
Otherwise the food is good.
Service could of been a bit quicker and more attentive.
