We have dined before and after Caramoor here twice recently. Service is always wonderful, and the food equally so. Love a few more vegetarian or fish options. We have sat outside both times under the awning and stayed dry. The people under umbrellas were not so lucky when the monsoon hit!
We hadn't been in a few months and was so nice to return. The service was really good, very friendly and informative. The food was delicious. I had the new pasta with mushrooms and it was very good. Really enjoyed ourselves, thank you!
Excellent food, wine menu and service. My wife and I wanted to go here for years but never seemed to work out. We will definitely be back.
The waitstaff was horrible. 1 waitress for the whole dining room. It was a special occasion I noted it on reservations & spoke to hostess & they brought out dessert with nothing. We got our check before we got our coffee. The waitress asked to take our order & only 2 drinks were at our table. Bar service very slow. For the cost of the meal the service & hospitality should be impeccable, it was not!
Hello Cristy, We are sorry that you're experience was not as expected. We strive to make everyone visit as memorable as possible. As to your review, we are greatly understaffed as most restaurants and businesses. We are doing our best to give great service while delivering exceptional food. We would appreciate your patience while we work to build our team and provide better service.
Loved the outdoor seating and the food was great
Very poor quality meal which is uncommon for this restaurant.
Nice dinner and delicious food in a beautiful setting - but service was uneven as we waited ~45 minutes for our table to be cleared after we finished eating. Like so many other spots, the Barn seems understaffed right now. Looking forward to the usual high standard of service again next time.
Indoor dining had a smell coming from the kitchen that was unpleasant.
A MUST “go to” place for dinner. We choose to sit inside but you can sit outside. Very special place … below is what we had for dinner … and yes did not finish everything- took a “to go” package home. Preparation, marrying of flavors, & presentation amazing! Second time for me going and this was by far the best! ( 1st time at ending of covid)
Here is what we had for dinner - all shared.
(Hector amazing with drinks! Server Catherine very knowledgeable. Timing perfect)

bourbon. blueberry. lemon. pineapple.
Wine: Frogs Leap Merlot
OYSTER SHOOTER - exceptional!!!!
quail egg. ponzu. scallion.
CHARRED OCTOPUS - tender
cucumber. rice wine. labne. sesame. plum.
BONE MARROW LUGE - crazy delicious
yellowfin tuna tartare. white soy ponzu. chives. lemon. nigori sake-sherry shot.
BLISTERED SHISHITO PEPPERS
preserved lemon seasoning.
SUMMER MUSHROOM PASTA YES!

BERRIES & CHEESECAKE
graham sable. blackbery compote. black currant meringue. raspberry sorbet.
Cant top perfection .. Can’t wait for our return!
We were a little early for our dinner for four, and sat at the bar for a pre-dinner drink. The noise level bay the bar was high, but the bartenders couldnt have been nicer and suggested one of their special bourbon cocktails which was delicious (and the bartender came to our table later to ask how we liked it). We sat at an outdoor table under a string lighted canopy, and had a very nice and accommodating waitress and the hostess actually lent us her phone to read the digital menu as our phones didnt have service.
All the appetizers were excellent: grilled octopus, shrimp cocktail and their special blooming onion, recommended by the waiter. For dinner we had a steak frites, halibut and scallops. All were cooked to our order, and all came out when expected. All in all a beautiful evening and highly recommend it.
Ate indoors at the Barn. My wife and I were joined by two friends. Attentive service, beautiful ambiance on a warm summer’s evening. We all agreed the food quality was very good. We all enjoyed cocktails - well made and nicely presented. Appetizers all well executed and tasty - Octopus, shrimp cocktail and the Bibb lettuce salad - the dressing on the salad delighting one of our group. Our main courses were equally well received with the exception of the pork dish. For although it was extremely tasty the portion size was very small. There seemed to be just the one small piece of carved pork - just as well we had ordered two side dishes. Overall, quality was good but value not quite there for the price paid.
The lobster Rangoon were to die for! We loved the fried chicken and the steak frites. But to be honest, the desserts stole the show! I am not much of a dessert person (everything usually is just too sweet) but the desserts were all amazing. The sweet corn ice cream sandwich -amazing. The Pavlova- off the charts. The dark choc pudding cake (not well named) - outstanding. We couldn’t agree on which we thought was best because they are all just that special
Food was good but expected a bit more. Gazpacho was a little thin, charred octopus was very good and the steak was ok.
Our server was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable.
Food good. Service ok
I made a note that I was celebrating my birthday. The hostesses greeted me with a happy birthday, which I thought was nice. Originally we were seated right by the entrance, but were accommodated when we requested another table.
The server was not attentive at all and seemed disengaged. Did not check on us at all and we interacted mostly with the bussers who were very nice.
The ambience and food were great, but with the poor service and high prices, I don’t think I would return again.
Highly Recommended! The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The grounds are beautiful.
This remains our favorite pre Caramoor dinner spot.
The food and service were excellent but unfortunately there were so many mosquitos even though we were inside.
Unfortunately we had a horrible experience. Service was slow. Food was ok. The manager, Everett, was incredibly rude to us and our children. They should not allow children at this restaurant - they are very clearly not welcomed. Dont bring your children to brunch here. In fact, we won’t be bringing anyone back here.
The ambience at the barn is absolutely lovely. Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t match. Our server was very nice, but not very attentive. We ordered a second round of drinks before our main dishes arrived and the wine was only brought after we had finished our mains. The server described the pork dish in a completely different way than what was received. The food overall was fine, but not up to the price tag. Our octopus was over cooked, the halibut main and pork main were mediocre. The mussels were delicious and the loaded cookie desert was the star of the show. Overall, I would say that it was not a meal I’d rush back to.
Sat outside. Had bone marrow, mussels, scallops, flatbread, pork. Food was great. Service and ambiance even better. Excellent spot.
We had a nice birthday brunch at the restaurant on 7/17/21. Great food and service. It was just humid outside but that isn’t the restaurant’s fault. The cinnamon role with peanut butter and jelly is pretty insanely good.
to use my iphone for the menu was ridiculous, to get seated at our table, totally waste of time, to get a drink was a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not for EVERETT AND CAROLINE C. we would have walked OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bartender was amazing but the food and our server left a lot to be desired.
While I enjoyed the creative food combinations and flavors on the menu- a rhubarb, white gin spritzer snd watermelon gazpacho were delish- my partner did not; so you might want to check the menu before booking. Otherwise the help was friendly and the quaint country patio setting was exactly what you would hope for and expect from Bedford. Also- don’t forget your bug spray! The mosquitos were feasting as much as the patrons!
Outdoor dining was gorgeous but very buggy
The ambiance is very nice.
Everything was great
The menu was too small and the entries were lacking in excitement
We wanted to like this place, even tried it twice, but the experience there is no where near the lovely experience at the Bedford Post Inn. It is clear the owner/chef doesn't care about her customers. We arrived just before a massive storm for dinner. The outside tables were not positioned properly to keep customers from getting wet. We waited for a half hour before an allergy questions was answered and to receive cocktails and have our order taken. Multiple staff members were buzzing around throughout this period - not one checked in with us, in fact they didn't even make eye contact. The chef herself visited the table behind us multiple times, clearly personal friends, but did not check in with any other customers. I think there were only about 15 tables total in a very small (cute) so it's disturbing that no one could be bothered to check in with us, notice we had been sitting there for 30 minutes and didn't have food or drink etc. It got worse as us edge diners began to get soaked. Tables started to complain and ask to be moved in further. Rather than address it for everyone - they just adjusted if the table complained. Ignored others, didn't think to ask if we were ok, needed a towel, again we were treated as if invisible. THEN they actually moved another table from the edge behind us, ensuring we could not move if we wanted to, didn't acknowledge us in any way to be sure we were ok. I was told I could have "the mushroom" dish due to my gluten allergy after the half hour wait. When I asked if someone more familiar with the menu could speak to me, twice, no one came, despite the chef being on the floor. I pointed out steak, scallops other items could also be GF. I was told yeah you can probably have the salads. Presentation was the worst I had ever seen (scallops) - disgusting overcooked greens. Tiny portion on a huge 3/4 empty plate. Tasted ok. ALL we met at the Inn had similar stories. No one had a good experience, even remotely. Dinner was 300+ for 2. F
Very attentive and pleasant servers who were not intrusive. Relaxing vibe, lovely courtyard. Delicious brunch and the menu was extensive enough to accommodate our party: a pescatarian, a lactose intolerant person, someone trying to lose pandemic pounds, and a generally healthy eater.
We chose to come here despite some bad reviews because of its convenience to Caramoor. Not sure why those reviews but they seem to have solved the problems and we were all very happy and plan to return.
Service and food were off the charts
Beautiful setting a delicious food. Everyone enjoyed!
We missed the Marrow Luge! You were out😩
Rye Carbonara and Fried chicken were great! And we love the Pavlova.
Your staff is so nice and friendly. Can’t wait to return.
Beautiful location, terrific ambiance and great service!
as much as we love the beautiful and idyllic setting outdoors, we have been to the restaurant a few times in the past months and overall experience is always a guess. Food could be better and portions are too small for the price.
We ordered the PI mussels and were suggested to order the baguette to scoop up the juices as no bread was coming with the plate. And, as another reviewer pointed out, the “baguette” was literally 5 very thin slices, not even a quarter the size of a regular size baguette for Usd7 that of course was gone by the time the mussels arrived.. the fried chicken main course: 3 tiny pieces served with no side order and priced at 26usd that my teenager son finished in 2 minutes..
Damp after big rainstorm, but the food was good. Wish there was more fish on the menu, but the one choice was good. Service was beyond leisurely. Server was cheery and pleasant, but rarely saw her on the floor and needed to send others to find her.
Not sure what happens in bad weather, but all surfaces were wet and wish we had brough our own towel to dry off chairs. We expected more from a Relais $ Chateau.
Monitor the weather before you go!
The ambiance and service was great. The menu is very limited… wish they had a bigger lunch menu.
We had our Father’s Day brunch there, and was not as special as we anticipated. It has all the potential to be great, if the service was not as slow, inaccurate in taking orders and unfriendly.
Hello Carolh, We are sad to hear that The Barn was not as you anticipated. We try our best to make our guest happy in every way. If I recall, you may have been a large group that had a minor mishap that the manager corrected after the order was repeated from the server. We did accommodate with complementary drinks and desserts after rectifying the issue. Once again, we are truly sorry for any misunderstandings or communications that may have been crossed.
