Wonderful restaurant, very special from the moment we entered. We loved the creative food and the attentive service, Welcoming drink, music, lighting make it very romantic. We had a great table and a wonderful family dinner. We will be back.
We had the tasting menu. Some things were exceptional, others were very good. Nothing was bad. For me the accompanying wines with one exception didn't seem to compliment or enhance the food but harshly contrasted or were just plain jarring. The servers were really lovely, bumping up the overall enjoyability. The piano player was very very good. But at least where we sat the music was too loud for easy conversation.
This is food as theatre. The only badly scripted moment was our arrival. We reserved, our table was ready for us when we arrived, there was no crowd, but still the hostess needed to sit us at a couch for a glass of champagne (yay) that, just as we sat and it was poured, we got up to be seated at our table. I believe you *have* to sit at the couch for champagne. Silly. If there's no crowd or wait, seat us at the table for the champagne.
Overall a really good time with unexpected and delicious flavours and combinations. Worth the cost for being introduced to my new favourite wine.
Food is fantastic! We did the a la carte menu and just loves it. Only negative was that it was a bit pretentious. We felt very uncomfortable being friendly with the wait staff.
Excellent restaurant but it has a dress code which they open table site didn’t mention. They were very gracious and accommodated us in a separate room as we weren’t dressed as required. Food comparable to a 1 star restraurant for Guide Michelin, easily our best meal so far in Mexico.
This restaurant in my 22 years of being alive has been by far the best experience food was spectacular service was unreal I never thought a restaurant could make you feel like you are the most valuable person around it was amazing the staff was awesome I will be recommending this place to all my friends and family. I thank and appreciate everyone that assisted me at tempo thank you very much!!!
Outstanding experience from the service to the ambiance to the food. Best meal we had in Cancun. Highly recommend.
It was a great experience. Many thanks to our waiter Reuben who provided the best service possible and the sommelier Carlos for his amazing wine pairings with the tasting menu. Highly recommended.
In a word, fantastic. Obviously not cheap, but a bargain compared with any NY etc. restaurant.
We found Tempo to be one of most stunningly beautiful restaurants in Cancun with impeccable and gracious service. We opted for a la carte dinner last night. Three amuse bouche along with two appetizers of tuna with kimchee flavor and tomato dish were first rate, look and taste wise. But our main courses, two fish courses of tuna and red snapper, alas, not only looked unappetizing but also completely tasteless. Mr. Berasategui himself would not eat these uninspiring and almost inedible dish. Shame on Mr. B. However, our meal ending “traditional apple with ice cream” was sublime, out of this world creation worthy of Michelin three star. Kudos for excellent service by our waiter.
We have been to Tempo a few times before and always loved it. This time I was disappointed! The service is still outstanding but I found the flavors in some of the dishes just didn't go well together. I enjoy trying new combinations of flavors but I felt that some things just didn't work. Putting foam on almost every course was excessive I thought and didn't add anything to most of the dishes.
One really strange and unforgivable thing was that the delicious 3 kinds of butters were served with cold, store bought type of baguette. A restaurant of this standard should make its own bread or at least serve decent hot bread.
There were some good tastes- the lamb was very good and the 2 desserts but it felt as if a different chef was working there compared to the last time we went in April.
Maybe we just had a bad night at the restaurant. We will try it again. I hope they will at least serve hot bread with the delicious butter.
Maybe they shouldn't be over ambitious in trying unusual flavors?
They do pamper you and make you feel special which is always enjoyable
Atmosfera elegante, menù degustazione ottimo, buona carta dei vini, servizio impeccabile
We were not permitted to dine because my son was wearing nice clean pressed shorts. They were most unaccommodating. At no point in time were we told that there was a dress code.
lovely evening, fantastic dinner :)
We have been to some of the best restaurants in the world and this is our third visit to Cancun. If you like fine dining and great wine you must eat at tempo for one night. It is outstanding! The food is unique with incredible flavors. The wine pairing is always special and you will discover some new favorite wines. Service is great. Sit back, relax and enjoy the experience and try not to think about the price as it will be expensive. One of our top 3 favorite restaurants in the world. Once again it was fantastic!
The experience was exceptional. This was the second time I dined at Tempo and was thoroughly pleased with the entire experience. My only suggestion would be to have more moderately priced wine available.
The ambiance is contemporary. Live piano music. You are served Champagne once you arrive. The presentation of the food is outstanding!! The service is excellent.
Snooty, Elegant, Excellent
This is not a place for casual dining. Upon entering the restaurant we were treated like we did not belong - challenged (rather than politely asked) as to whether we had a reservation or not (we did - and if you plan on eating here so should you).
Based on our initial reception we actually considered leaving - but stayed because we really wanted to try the tasting menu.
Once seated, the experience went from insulting and below par to truly exquisite.
Tempo needs to work on the initial arrival.
But once past that, everything was perfect.
The tasting menu (7 courses plus a few treats thrown in) was unique - providing a truly creative mix of ingredients and textures and paired with superb wine selections.
The first few courses seemed to arrive too quickly - but a mention of this to our head waiter slowed down the pace and made the overall experience much nicer.
We spent 3 hours enjoying the tasting menu, the ambiance, and the service.
While expensive - we spent $450 US for two - it is a bargain compared to anything equivalent in the US.
The two restaurants we enjoyed the most on this visit to Cancún were Tempo and MB (at Live Aqua). Both are exceptional! Tempo is Michelin level dining with a price and overall experience to match. MB is also a great experience - not quite as elegant - but less expensive. We cannot decide which we liked better. If time permits try both!
Attention to detail, excellent food and wine pairing. Personal service, great staff
This is white glove service for special occasions. The chef proudly displaced his AAA five star distinguished award at the entrance. The tasting menu attracts an upscale crowd and the price confirms this notion. The dishes are so attractive that a picture of each course could make the cover of Fine Dining magazine. Unfortunately I did not find that the flavors matched my expectations. Although the service was attentive it did not reach the level of “white glove” service. This is a good but not great restaurant experience. It is intended to be a drawing card for the hotel in which it is located with a named chef and all the trappings. Somewhere the excitement of new creative dishes got lost in the maze.
VERY CREATIVE CUISINE. TASTING MENU COSTLY AT $92/PERSON. IF ORDER ALA CARTE BETTER DEAL. THEY GIVE SO MANY TASTES BEFORE AND AFTER MEAL WE KEPT EATING AND EATING. THREE OF US PAID $233 WITH 15% TIP. OUTSTANDING
Puntos a considerar:
excellent food, great service
A little pricy but worth it
This has been a great experience. Degustation menu is a must if you come to this restaurant. Price worth the experience. Make sure to come with a special one(s).
They have an interesting menu. Some may read that as a negative, but I liked it. Presentation is great and food was good. Ambiance is low light, high end, definitely a good place for romantic dinner or nice dinner with friends. It wasn't unreasonably priced for a higher end restaurant.
Two negatives - first, piano is too loud. Hard to have a conversation with a larger group. Need the background noise, but soften it up a little.
BIGGEST NEGATIVE - Wines. They have a large wine list, but the American wines (which we know very well) are way over priced. One was 4x what we had paid the previous week at a US restaurant. The reason is logical - lots of import taxes. OK, makes sense. But you do not have a chance to taste any of the wines. At nice restaurants, if you order an decent bottle of wine ($80-$200), if you don't like it, you can choose to not take it (with in reason). Since the reasonably priced wines (e.g. $80-$150) are local, it is a crap shoot. Improve the service in this area and cater to the clientele which paid for an all-inclusive and will STILL come to the restaurant not included in the all-inclusive package. Hence the 3 stars on service instead of 4.
Wonderfull service and food.
Amazing taste of everything.
The piano a little bit too noisy
Amazing food, service & staff, fabulous dining experience!
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The service and the food is amazing. The restaurant is beautiful and the young lady playing the piano provided beautiful accompaniment to a memorable dinner. This is my third time eating at this restaurant and each time I visit I am wowed! This was the best restaurant in all of Cancun to celebrate my dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant to my family, friends and business associates.
We have had the wonderous fortune of dining at many one and two michelin star restaurants and tonight, this exceeded them all. We both got the tasting menu along with the premium wine pairing. One of us had dietary issues, which they accommodated for amazingly well. The service from Daniel was outstanding from the beginning to the end and the food was unbelievable. The courses were all amazing but our favorite was probably the red tuna tartare with kimchi sauce with citrus ponzu pearls and snow ice of Ginger and Cherry. If you want an experience that you will not forget don't hesitate going.
Fantastic food, very friendly reception by the employees, good ambience.
If you are vacationing in Cancun and are a foodie, you MUST visit this restaurant. We had an amazing experience. The food was delicious. The wine pairing was perfect (we opted for the premium pairing). And the service was flawless. Fantastic experience all around! On point with the Michelin star restaurants we visited in San Sebastien last year. Highly recommend it.
It is in a beautiful setting for sure.
Greeted with a glass of perfectly chilled champagne that reminded me of the small champagne glasses of the 1930's.
Missed the Cheese Tasting event on Friday night and the one presented the night we dined was not what we had a taste for.
Wines by the glass allows for parings and they did a nice job.
Menu was much the same as the last time we dined there.
I can't say we were were not pleased just not swept off our feet.
Absolutely amazing experience, with food, wine, and service. Go for the premium wine tasting.
The best meal I ever ate. Impeccable service. Everyone is dedicated to ensure your experience is stellar. Words can not describe how delicious the food was. The sommelier gave us an interesting wine lesson on Napa Valley wines. I left with more knowledge than from visits to Napa. I could go on forever about the best culinary experience ever at Tempo.
