When we turned up on Saturday lunchtime we were one of 2 or 3 tables at the time so we had a choice of seating. We sat at the bar by the open kitchen which was by far the best seat in the house. The staff were attentive and kept us looked after. We had the bottomless lunch menu and the portions were very generous. We ordered an extra mushroom naan halfway through the meal and there was no issue at all. The staff were very knowledgeable about all of the food on offer and were very friendly, always ready with a drink top up!
The only reason that the ambience wasn't more than 3 stars is because there were very few people there - no fault of the restaurant.
Highlights were the squid pakora and the Lamb Thali - phenomenal flavours.
Bottom line - couldn't recommend more. A great place for a relaxed lunch with great food and drink and a great atmosphere.
Had a great experience at Temper City with 4 friends.
The service was excellent from the start and our server was both attentive and knowledgeable.
The menu is great for sharing in such groups, our shared starters were super, the squid pakora was particularly sensational.
We all tried different thali plates for mains and they were all of the same high standards the starters had set.
Will definitely be coming back and at £50 a head for drinks, two courses and loads more to share it’s definitely worth it.
Really enjoyed this alternative Indian cuisine who specialises in their duck too! Creative menu and modern decors in the restaurant. The toilets are also nice and clean. The food is inventive and fun to eat. The staff are friendly. Only thing is although their drinks are lovely, the cocktails are quite pricey. The music was quite loud too. Nevertheless I would still return for a fun business lunch!
Had a great night at temper city. Even though it's in a part of London which is normally dead at the weekend, it was full enough to generate some atmosphere. the music was brilliant, 80s power ballads at just the right volume for the vibe. the service was superb, Yancy looked after us and helped us enjoy the experience. She was a great laugh and gave us honest recommendations on our menu choices.
Really recommend temper both city and soho, the open kitchen watching. I'll be back.
Temper - City had a great vibe for a Friday night and I'd defo recommend it for drinks. Personally the food was about of let down. Both me and my mate didn't enjoy the curries and the condiments were rather a mis match. The lamb curry was fatty which wasn't very nice.
The soft shell crab starter was really deep fried and very little crab which was a let down.
Service was great, music and buzz too was on point .
Last minute group lunch, but had been wanting to try Temper ever since the one in Soho opened. Great menu - interesting starters and all had a great amount of spice and flavour. Service was good but they were a little slow and forgot the thali plates so our curries were sitting there for a while getting cold while we waited. Great wines and nice space - will definitely go back and have recommended to friends.
Great staff and atmosphere in this trendy restaurant. We had been given a recommendation by a friend who had been recently but we could not remember it. Maybe we will go back and try it. Plenty of great sounding options on the menu and the squid starter we shared was no exception. The duck curry I had was tasty too. My friend’s lamb curry was a little grizzly. The sauce was tasty though. Apparently, it’s the dry goat that’s the winner! Not the cheapest place costing over £50 for one shared starter, two mains (with two extra parathas) and two non-alcoholic drinks, but a good option for a treat.
We had been to temper in Soho and were looking forward to returning. We were very surprised to find that the menu isn't the same and in reality quite disappointed. We're not sure why a grill would attempt to do Indian curries, when there are so many better options for that in London. Their skewers however were stunning. Do go and order only from the grill or go to the Soho branch. If you want curry go to Tooting or other.
Overall we had a nice evening, but were not blown away by anything really. The food was variable - a couple of the starters and mains were really delicious, but others less so. We got two of the currys and it was the same sauce with either duck or paneer which was a bit disappointing. The service was friendly but we had to wait a long time for the mains to come out, leaving a long gap in the middle of the meal. Desserts were fine if slightly obsessed with banana - the ice cream on two of the dishes was the best part. So a perfectly good meal, but nothing really special to write home about.
We waited 70 minutes before any food arrived. One of our party only got her food once everyone else had finished. No apology or any comment at all was made on this by our waitress. It was cold so we all kept our coats on whilst dining. The food did not live up to expectations based on the menu. Temper Soho by far exceeds this dining experience on every aspect of food, service and ambience.
The main course dishes were particularly great, haggis starter delicious. The squid pakora dish was overcooked. Our server was very friendly and looked after us, bit of a delay with starters, seems to have been some confusion in the kitchen! Would definitely go again, I imagine once word gets out it will be packed like its soho counterpart. V enjoyable evening overall.
Hidden in a city backstreet this Indian style barbecued gem from the amazing Neil rankin won't stay hidden for long... loved the American bar style seating (perfect if you're on your own) to the cosy booths for groups of friends, the food is delicious, the drinks list long (2 full pages of gins!) and the service outstanding... I'll definitely be back for more!
Had a great time with friends after a champagne tasting. Wanted the steak menu and didn't realise that TEMPER City had a different menu to TEMPER Soho, so watch out. After the shock, it was a great experience, and the waitress was great.
The location is amazing. The open kitchen looks a playground for grown-ups. Skip the tables and make sure to get a seat at the counter. The food was ok but personally I was not fully satisfied. A take on Indian food, heavily revisited. I liked the tandoori chicken but you have to forget what you would usually expect. It comes in a decent portion, served with (I think) a peppers based sauce and baby radish thinly sliced.
The lamb and pepper stew let me down. I havee found the lamb dry / lacking taste and the stew just a creamy soup of blended vegetables, with not much pepper to taste.
Service was nice and quick.
I would definitely return as some of the other meat dishes were highly inspiring.
What to say? The food was great, the service staff were amazing (entertaining, friendly, funny), the playlist was fantastic and we had a great night from start to finish! If I could give a bit of creative criticism, I would suggest having more paratha come with the curry dishes. But otherwise, everything was spot on!
Absolutely fantastic dining experience due not only to the food which was delicious, the extensive and fabulous selection of gins but above all the impeccable, knowledgeable, highly personable service. We were on a date for my boyfriends birthday and the staff couldn't have done more to make it special. Highly recommend.
We had an excellent meal at Temper last night! The food was outstanding and very creative - "curry fusion." Having been to both the Soho and City branches, they are both great but also very individual. The staff were all very efficient, friendly and fun. Lovely restaurant area with open kitchen and bar seating. We will definitely be back!
