Very delicious food with many choices. Loved the table with the fire pit.
My friend and I ordered the Mahi mahi taco and zucchini taco which we shared. Both so very tasty delicate and just the right amount of spice. Delicious meal! Will definitely return! They also gave our friend a complementary dessert!
So unexpected! Went to Del Mar for the sunset and decided to have dinner there with my hubby.. food was plentiful and DELICIOUS! Definitely order the guacamole with pomegranates- yum and yum! Had the zucchini tacos.. did not disappoint! I left so FULL!
We were there on a Sunday for lunch at noon and there was plenty of space available. I know that's not usually the case as it's often very busy. We really enjoyed our visit, great food and service.
Amazing addition to the restaurants in Del Mar. Great vibe, service is super good, staff is happy (seems like a nice place to work), and food is amazing! Thank you to the owners for running such a wonderful restaurant!!!
Great food, dog-friendly, interesting cocktails and food.
Great food and service as always. The patio is large and our puppy gets the royal treatment every time.
Our waitress Soleil was awesome great food awesome margs now my favorite restaurant!!
Food is excellent great environment. Just a bit noisy because it is on the street.
This was my second visit to TLK Del Mar and my wife’s first time. I have been anxious to take her because my first experience was favorable. I must say I was disappointed in the food quality this time but with a few specific caveats. First, the chips and salsa are excellent. Fresh and authentic. Secondly the flour tortillas are homemade, fresh and outstanding! Unfortunately the corn tortillas in the fish tacos were terrible. They looked and tasted like they came from a day-old package. Why not make the corn tortillas fresh also? The answer probably lies with a cost factor. My carne asada meat was tough and poorly-seasoned. I would gauge the meat quality at “USDA Choice” just barely but definitely not Prime. This is disappointing given the price of this item. I make carne asada at home and use higher-quality skirt steak which is more tender and flavorful. Yes, I admit to being a “carne asada snob” but I’m being brutally honest about my meal. I recommend they figure out a way to make the asada tastier and more tender. Also, the fish tacos were dry and unseasoned. Just sayin’.
I want to compliment the friendly staff. Our server was delightful and very responsive in every way. High marks in this area without hesitation. Also, the outdoor dining area is great.
In conclusion, I don’t want to deter others from trying TLK as I really do like the restaurant. I will definitely return but it will take some convincing for my wife to go again. Clearly, there are many other items on the menu that I have yet to try and I am willing to give them a chance to improve. Overall, my dining experience was favorable.
Enjoyed our drinks and food. Staff was super friendly and on top of it.
Just a great night with Allie our server. Fun vibe, big menu and fair prices. I had carnitas and my wife shrimp enchiladas. Skinny margaritas to start! Can’t wait to return!
Everything was average. Food was nothing special, drinks bland and service ok. Overpriced for average and unlikely to return.
It was our first time to dine for lunch at Tamarindo. It was highly recommended by a few friends. I started with All the Loves margarita that refreshing flavors of rosemary and hibiscus that was suggested by our server Chris. The tortilla chips was lightly seasoned and went well with the fresh mild salsa. I had their delicious chicken mole dish. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was tasty that I requested for more of the mole sauce.
My boyfriend ordered the carne asada plate. They served the meat medium rare to medium which was the way he liked it. We also had a side order of yucca fritas with turmeric aioli. Everything was delicious and we plan to come back to try other dishes on their menu.
Made reso for anniversary. Special occasion not acknowledged by any staff. Drink were premade; timing was so quick. Server was nice but forgot to take our main course order. Had to ask 3 times for firepit to get lit. Food was bland. People watching good. Weird that 3 of the 4 red wines available by the glass were Cabernet.
The food was below subpar! The service was ok. For a nice place in Del Mar place was below expectations. The cilantro rice was plain rice sprinkled with cilantro. Take my advice and find another spot
This was our 4th visit to Tamarindo and I was slightly disappointed. I asked that my carne asada be medium rare, and it was overdone. Also, it came later than my other 3 dining companions' meals. And my favorite margarita, of which I order 2, didn't have the usual rim with a delicious sweet and tahin mixture.
This is rapidly becoming a go to place for us. The tacos and entrees are reasonable and excellent. Good selection of tequilas. Waitstaff is attentive.
The food was really good. Really large tacos with lots of fillings. Service was attentive which is hard to find right now.
Staff didn’t care about service.
I know that the location and ambiance is 100% on point. Returning or local customers might be a problem.
My friend and I reunited after 30 years and had lunch here. Ian was our (amazing) server and treated us with respect for our time of catching up. He even gave us free churros with a sparkler on them to celebrate. This is a perfect place on a Sunday afternoon for a quiet lunch.
First of all the food is really quite good. I like that the menu is somewhat limited and a step aside and above standard So Cal Mexican. I think most everyone can find something to enjoy. We ordered a couple taco plates. The plates are somewhat ala carte, but more than enough food for the average appetite. We also ordered a side salad and a side of beans and rice. Although, the sides were great.... we didn't finish either. Drink-wise; my wife's special Marg was really good. I ordered their version of an Old Fashion, which came naked with a regular cube of ice. I knew it was different, but to call it an "Old Fashion" you gotta get the ice right and put a garnish in it. It's a small thing, but often small things matter, when there are so many dining choices. Regardless, we'll be back.... I'll just order a different drink.
Outstanding food and great service. You must try the elote spears
And the chicken mole. So good!
Great service, good food and drinks, and a really nice location. We really enjoyed our first visit to Tamarindo and will definitely be going back!
Great food and fantastic service from Ian and the rest of the staff
Really great cocktail and good menu! Lots of variety and reasonably priced. Always excellent service and fun vibe!
Service, ambience and price were excellent. Food and drinks were so-so.
The location is great and it’s open and airy. However the food is completely average. Nothing special. Drinks also nothing special. Kind of disappointed it couldn’t have been just a little better. Will be sticking with Fidels.
It was mediocre, the food, the service, the ambiance.
The food quality was not the best. It lacked authenticity and the flavors were just not there. The paella and the fish was very greasy and the rest of the food was just ok. I also wished the staff wore masks despite vaccine status, I just personally feel better in establishments that do it as an additional precaution.
Fabulous location, wonderful service and great food. Well done, Tamarindo!
Given the in-demand location and other reviews I have seen, the food was better than expected. I enjoyed my Oaxacan Fig Mole (chicken, secret mole sauce, sesame, radish, black beans, cilantro-lime rice) and happily stole from my wife's Short Rib Tamarindo (braised short rib, corn puree, salsa, tamarind glaze, garlic, baby kale, tomato, radish.) Both are signature dishes and a safe bet.
The food was very tasty and our server was very attentive.
It was a busy Friday night, and the place was loud and hopping...nevertheless our server was efficient and served us with a smile. Pescado Veracruz is FANTASTIC, as were the elote spears appetizer. We'll come again.
First time here. Got a front window seat and was really pleased with our decision. Food was very good, drinks were good and most importantly for us, the service was great and the team there was very friendly. They asked if it was a special occasion which it was and brought us some delicious churros!
We thoroughly enjoyed our celebratory dinner at Tamarindo. We had a great server who was very attentive and made great recommendations. The margaritas were very unique and they made them to our liking. The appetizers and food were all delicious, and they even brought out a surprise dessert when they noticed that we were there for a special occasion.
Over the last few weeks the food and service have steadily gotten worse every visit. The staff seems tired and annoyed. It was great when it opened but is no longer worth the visit.
Overall a nice place to have a casual dinner and/or drinks. Our waitress was quite attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, as ridiculous as this may seem, we didn’t receive cocktail napkins for our drinks and our table was flooding in water. When we asked about the napkins, it was as if it was a foreign thing. 🧐 The Carne Asada tacos were quite tasty. However, the ceviche was very fishy tasting. It was our first dish out, were very hungry and did not finish it. Drinks are quite creative, however, end result underwhelming in taste. Not saying we wouldn’t return, but it won’t be any time soon.
Food was terrific server was great but they need more busboys. Dirty dishes sat on the table way to long.
