The food and service were great. The french fries were everyone's favorite, and that doesn't usually happen. I asked for a quiet table when making the reservation, and the host gave us the perfect table in a back corner. Very often my request is ignored.

Disappointing to say the least. Drove 140 miles to celebrate good friends' birthday and wedding anniversary, which was acknowledged by the host when we entered the restaurant. Cocktails we watered down with way too much ice. Redfish entree was the size of a deck of cards at $39. Pork chop ($39) was tough and I had to send my Wagyu burger back twice, requested NO CHEESE (2X) and it was cold. For an over $200. check, management could have and should have at least brought out a cookie with a candle on it to recognize my friends' 79th birthday and 51st anniversary. Perhaps this is why there was only one other party dining when we left at after 7:00pm

The food business is a hard business to be in. Any momentum in the wrong direction and it's a slow, painful death. A fresh new interpretation of the menu by a new chef is required ASAP. Nothing was horrible, but then again, nothing was great either. I hope it was just an "off night." There's a good chance I won't be back to find out. I was hoping for the best, especially since it was a brave new restaurant choice for us, and I tend to stick with the core 3-4 places I've grown comfortable and confident with. The best was not what we got, however. We got mediocre, mostly, and kind of okay everywhere else. I was surprised to see it so empty initially until the octopus arrived. Then it all made sense.

Her scallop dishes are incredibly good. The watermelon/tomato/ mozzarella salad with pesto is an unusual combo the always delivers.

Definitely a good place for foodies. My husband and I decided to share 4 dishes. Cornbread - delicious, grilled avocado (a special) - this was our favorite item, topped with crab, pasta with crab - excellent and the pork belly with clams - very interesting flavors. We loved the interesting flavor combinations in the dishes and really enjoyed everything. The grilled avocado was a special but hopefully they'll add it to the regular menu. Definitely try the pasta dish!

One of our favorite restaurants. Still a secret in its new location, I predict great success for Melissa's food and her expertly-trained servers.

Great place to go for something different! I had the seafood stew which was wonderful. My husband had the scallops and pork belly on sweet potato mash and almost licked the plate clean🤣

Preguntas frecuentes

The dress code is business casual. Guests commonly arrive dressed smart-casual for date nights and special occasions, which fits the restaurant’s casual-elegant tone. If you have a group with a specific dress preference, a quick call to confirm is always helpful.

Chef Melissa Donahue is the owner and chef behind Sweet Melissa’s. Guests and the owner’s description reference Melissa as the creative force, and many reviews note Melissa personally greeting tables and running the kitchen.

Yes, Sweet Melissa’s is frequently recommended for date nights. Guests praise the creative, finely plated dishes (duck, scallops, fish stew) and the warm, attentive service, making it a popular spot for special occasions. The dining room is stylish and intimate, though it can get lively and a bit loud when busy because of concrete floors. For a quieter experience, reserve an earlier seating on a weekday. Don’t miss the famous cornbread and goat cheese cheesecake for a memorable finish.

Sweet Melissa’s hours are: Tuesday–Saturday 11:00 AM–9:00 PM and Sunday 5:00 PM–9:00 PM. Guests also report dining there for dinner service and holiday evenings, but it’s wise to confirm hours for special dates.

Reservations are recommended because the restaurant can be busy, especially on weekends and holidays. Guests report prompt seating for reservations and crowded service on peak nights; bar seating and earlier weekday dinners are easier to secure. If you don’t have a reservation during busy times, expect possible wait times and call ahead to check availability.

Busiest: weekend evenings (Fri–Sat), Valentine’s Day and holiday evenings, guests frequently note these peak times. Quietest: weekday early evenings (Tues–Thurs) and earlier seating times tend to be calmer. If you prefer a quieter experience, book midweek or an early dinner.

Midweek (Tuesday–Thursday) evenings are the best bet for a relaxed meal with attentive service. Many guests praise the food across the week, but weekends and holidays draw larger crowds and a livelier atmosphere. If you want the full-service experience without the bustle, choose a weekday evening and an early reservation.

Yes, the staff have a record of accommodating special requests and allergies. Guests report the kitchen worked with gluten and nightshade allergies and adjusted dishes when asked. For seating preferences, dietary restrictions, or celebrations, call the restaurant ahead of your reservation so the team can prepare and ensure the best experience.

Go early on a weekday evening for a quieter, more relaxed experience. Guests note that weekends, Valentine’s Day, and holiday evenings can be busy and louder due to the open, industrial dining room. If you prefer a lively night with full service and specials, Friday–Saturday are popular; for a calmer meal, choose Tuesday–Thursday or an earlier seating.

Sometimes, guests report dining at Sweet Melissa’s on holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve, so the restaurant has operated on certain holidays. Because holiday hours can vary, call ahead to confirm whether they’ll be open for a specific public holiday.

Portions are generally moderate and aligned with an upscale, small-plates-forward menu. Guests often order several small plates to share (mussels, cornbread, beet salad) and then an entrée; some describe the mussels as generous while others find certain entrees modest for the price. Desserts (like the goat cheese cheesecake) are noted as large. If you prefer a heartier meal, pair a small plate with an entrée or ask your server for recommendations.

Families do dine here, and guests often bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children. The menu focuses on creative small plates and seafood-forward entrees rather than a kids menu, so younger children may have limited familiar choices. If visiting with younger kids, consider an early seating and call ahead to ask about menu flexibility or high chairs.

Warm, creative, and contemporary, Sweet Melissa’s combines a stylish, industrial-chic dining room with attentive service and often live guitar music. Guests call it casual-elegant and well suited for date nights and celebrations. Note: the space has concrete floors and can become lively and a bit noisy when full, so it’s not ultra-quiet fine dining but it’s polished and inviting.

Sweet Melissa’s primarily offers a single main dining room with a bar area and well-spaced tables. Guests describe an attractive, modern interior with an “industrial” feel (concrete floors) and live guitar on some nights. The restaurant does not advertise private dining rooms; for larger groups or seating preferences, call ahead to discuss options.
