Great food, reasonably priced, but views and service from waitstaff was excellent. Would definitely go back again. Bookings essential, it was packed to the rafters on Friday night
Food underwealing except for the fish
Irish lady serving was rude
Basically they know people will always go to james squires because for the view, the service + food needs work.
Reunion of old friends
The steak we wanted was rare to medium when we ordered medium to well. We got a beer order mixed up but didn't change it and when we asked if we could move to a table with a nicer view we were told it was booked but no-one sat there. Most of the meals were good but a little disappointed.
The view from the restaurant upstairs is spectacular, the wine selection was delicious, and the food..... , the food I can not put into words how much I enjoyed the food, the staff who have a great sense of humour, the entire establishment whether just down stairs at the bar and court yard to fine dinning upstairs you will struggle to find a better place to spend time with the people you love to be around
I requested a table for a birthday dinner. We had a number of requirements and demands, but the staff at Squire's Landing have been nothing short of amazing in accommodating to our requests.
They placed us next to the window - with perfect view of the Opera House, and kept us updated with the cruise schedule to warn us of any upcoming cruise interruptions.
The service throughout the night was fantastic. The staff were attentive, playful and helpful.
The food and ambience were also amazing. The selection of alcoholic drinks was impressive, and the tasting paddle a highlight.
Will be back!
We had a very enjoyable dining experience before a performance at the Sydney Opera House. We arrived at 5:30 pm and we’re greeted promptly by a friendly hostess. We were seated at a table with a very nice view of the harbor bridge and the opera house. Our view of the opera house was initially obstructed by a cruise ship, but it departed shortly after we received our glass of wine. Our server was Chris and he was amazing! He took the time to review the menu with us and was friendly and helped to keep us on schedule without us feeling rushed. I had the Rib Filet which was perfectly done and extremely flavorful. My spouse had the lamb shank which was also very flavorful. The Brussel Sprouts were beyond delicious!! The whole dining experience made for a wonderful start to an unforgettable evening! If you make reservations please know that floor 1 (which is the 2nd floor to us Americans) is where you want to be for the menu and view.
The wine list is very inaccurate. Oysters were too salty (how can you get oysters wrong in a spot like that?). Service patronising.
Wonderful meal with friends. Good food and wine. Service was spectacular
The views were fabulous.
The service was excellent.
The food was appalling.
Fabulous night, service, food and the view all amazing and would highly recommend this to Sydneysiders and visitors alike made all the better because there was no ship in port and the fireworks were a nice surprise.
I was really looking forwards to dining at Squire's landing restaurant but was honestly disappointed. I booked for my boyfriend's birthday and called up the day before saying that it was for an occasion and requested a table with a view. I was told that there would be no guarantee for this but the manager would try their best to accommodate requests. When we got there we were put on a table 4 tables down from the window, so while we could see the view, it wasn't great. While we were eating the two tables closest to the window were vacant for most of our booking, one couple who were about to be seated on our left asked the waitress if they could get a better view, and the waitress promptly sat them down on the table second closest to the window, while the one closest to the window still was unoccupied. I was pretty upset that I had called to request and then another couple that asked on the spot got a great view. As for the food, my boyfriend ordered the 75$ streak, it was honestly the best steak I have ever had, and he was very happy. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was probably one of the worst pastas i have ever had, and for 40$. It was such a small portion that i bought Macdonalds fries at Circular Quay station because I was still hungry when i finished my meal. The seafood itself was really average and tasted like it was forzen and reheated and there was a lot of sand in the shells. Apart from that the service was good though. It was most defiently not worth my money and we could have had a better view (and probably food) if we had just stayed downstairs instead.
The view was of course amazing. We had excellent service & the menu was reasonably priced being so close to the Harbour.
We had a wonderful evening and have already recommended it.
This place is excellent. The views are iconic and the food and service stellar
Would definitely give 7 star if I could. Everything beyond my expectation，the unique Opera House and Harbour Bridge view, incomparable staff and awesome food. Highly recommended!
Absolutely wonderful service for my husband and my anniversary dinner! Will absolutely come back here again!
Outstanding food and service. Not my first visit nor my last. Thank you.
Prices were a bit steep, I ordered the chicken and it only came with chicken and a piece of mini corn which i thought wasn't that great. Luckily we ordered a side salad to go with our meals or we would have had nothing but chicken. Overall enjoyable meal though
I have tried both the restaurant section and the downstairs bistro area and I think you get much better value for money in the bistro/downstairs area. Grab a pizza and a beer and enjoy the view, live music and ambiance. The quality of the food in the restaurant doesn’t really justify the hefty price tag. Lovely space though!
Service and location are brilliant. All three fish and chips were undercooked. Good beer made up for the ordinary food though. Will go back but will order something else.
overall very good but a little cold beside the door. Service good and friendly - not overly so. Will be back with overseas friends soon, Cheers
This is actually one of our favourite venues usually. However, we booked for 11 guests which meant we were having to order from a set menu, which is a bit annoying because we don't usually ever eat entrees or mains, usually just a main meal is more than enough. But I think the most annoying thing of all is the additional 10% surcharge because our group was over 10. We asked if we could have a table of five and six and were told no because they could not guarantee the tables would be next to each other. The 10% surcharge also applied to drinks. Also, we had to provide credit card details to secure the booking (which is totally fine I understand completely this requirement). We also had to fill in and sign two additional booking forms which made no sense to us as they already had our credit card details for any 'no show' to charge the fee of $25 per person on the booking. A little disappointing experience and probably wouldn't book again for a party of more than 9 as the additional 10% on top of the already premium prices on both food and drink kind of left a sour taste for us.
First time in the restaurant on level 1 and my party and I all had the 'bottomless brunch'. The sunny day made both the Harbour and the restaurant gleam and i would go again for this alone. Location was amazing and the atmosphere was so joyous due to the 4 or so Birthday celebrations surrounding our table.
The food was amazing and the two course option was simple and delicious. (The arancini balls and the fish of the day salmon were the clear winners!) We all said that we would definitely, definitely (yes twice) recommend a visit here and I must mention the staff who were so polite, attentive yet not intrusive. The only criticism was that we were not given the available table by the window which sat empty for the whole time so DO request a window table.
Great atmosphere, great service. Nice and relaxed seating with a view of the harbour, seperate from the bar and any noise. Food was fantastic, will visit again.
I've been here twice and am never disappointed. The staff are always friendly and have a high level of service. The food is delicious and comes out exactly how you would expect, sometimes a lot better. I love this place for the food, service, drinks and you can't go wrong with the view!
The position is A class but the food very average and a expensive for what you get
Position and atmosphere delivers everything Sydney has to offer. Great quality of food, awesome beer.
Everything was great, including the food, service, beer selection, wine list and general ambiance. The only downside was the very large adjacent cruise ship which made a mockery of the boast that you have a 180degree view of the Sydney Harbour, including the Opera House. That said, I will return.
THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND ALSO GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Spectacular views. Tasty food. Not a lot for the non sea foodies in your party. Portions are too big so we spent a lot on food we didn’t eat.
the staff was so nice and kind. the food. the food was beautiful. i really enjoyed the food.
Great food and service. Beautiful view. Had a fantastic experience overall
View is incomparable! Drinks list is extensive, albeit not cheap. Steak was perfectly cooked, however my fish was a bit dry and over cooked. Only disappointment was the broccoli side which tasted burnt; and we didn’t get it comped which was a bit of a letdown as we only ate one mouthful before deciding we didn’t like it. Overall it was a very nice evening though. Service was good!
The view was fantastic and the service was good. My meal was average but everyone else had great meals.
I took some friends visiting from overseas to Squires Landing and again the team were amazingly accommodating in providing us a window seat (I asked in special requests). What a view for the fraction of the price of Quay upstairs! The food was solid, service good and vibe lovely. Recommend going again and again.
I had a friend over from Scotland and we had such an amazing night at Squire’s the food , cocktails and service were wonderful and an after dinner wine taking in the view, I’ll definitely be back.
Was there for a work function and received amazing service all day.
Will definitely recommend to others
A lovely place for lunch with a spectacular view. The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Great food, great view. Only downfall, although our server was very attentive he seemed quite unhappy/grumpy.
