Society is an energetic and fun restaurant and bar located in Tempe on the corner of University and Rural next-door to the Tempe Improv. Society offers inventive Italian and Mediterranean cuisine created by Chef Armando Aguirre. We offer our full dinner menu daily from 4pm to 1:30am with Happy Hour Sunday-Thursday 4pm to 6pm and Reverse Happy Hour Wednesday night from 10PM-12AM. Society is a stunning oasis in the desert with a large 28 seat illuminated rose quartzite bar top with an extensive wine list and creative house cocktails. We have plush booths, couches and a separate dining room area. When visiting Society we want you to escape with us and enjoy our hospitality!

This was a fantastic dinner for us. We found the place using Open Table and made reservations for it before our trip to Tempe. My Ora King salmon dish was served on a potato cake and served with a lobster cream sauce that I didn’t think would pair well but was phenomenal. It might have been a ‘special’ that night, I don’t recall. My wife ate the arancini as an appetizer and the the mussels. Both were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. My dessert was a small slice of a chocolate cake with raspberry and chocolate drizzle. Very good, not rich and good balance of flavors. Our server (Aaron?) was super nice, very knowledgeable of the menu and how dishes were prepared. That made our difficult decisions easier, no doubt. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor in a strip mall but - PLEASE! - don’t let that fool you. The vibe inside was casual and fun, but well decorated. It wasn’t dark not bright, plenty of lights but all just bright enough to see. One of the best meals from start to finish in a long time.

I’m not sure what people are noticing about this place to reflect such high-level praise in the reviews. It felt like a strip mall bar that could easily become a dance club at night. The decor was strange. The food was mediocre. The staff was very nice though. I won’t be coming back.

We were disappointed with the service and food, especially considering we had made a reservation. Despite this, we were shuffled to the side while another group that arrived after us was prioritized. It felt like our server was aggressively upselling high-ticket items, and the overall experience seemed rushed, as if they were spread too thin.

I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the experience was at Society. I surprised my daughter by flying us from Las Vegas to Phoenix for the day. Society went above and beyond with a personalized birthday menu for my daughter and a complimentary dessert after dinner. The service (both the hostess and server named “Bohdan”), the food, and cocktails was exceptional! Highly recommended the charcuterie board. We will be going back for sure! Thank you, Society!

Food variety, creativity, taste and quantity of servings were great. The cocktails were fun, albeit a bit sweet for my preference, and probably targeted to a younger crowd more attuned to grape juice and soda than to whisky or bourbon. The bar and table service was excellent: friendly and attentive but not so much as to disturb our date night. The decor and surrounding is really fun and unique, but the throbbing techno music was just a bit much after an hour and a half. But I will admit that I am old and ornery about “turn down that music” so take my review with a grain of salt. I would go again and, rarely, if ever do I give a restaurant a perfect five star rating. I give Society four stars (and maybe 4.5 if that was possible). If you’re in Tempe I would recommend this fun, college-vibe spot.

The drinks, the bartender, the food quality of food the service I can go on and on, but this place was outstanding. It was our first day there for date night and we are definitely going back. This is a fantastic place to go. The food was to die for

Cool environment. Service was super slow and we got there at 4:45 so it wasn’t busy yet. The starters were great. The charcuterie board and truffle fries were my favorite. The lighting however made our food look a little bit unappealing. We sat in the booth area. I got the crispy chicken on their avocado Caesar salad. The lettuce and dressing were iffy but the chicken was delicious and cooked well.

We had a pretty good overall experience at this restaurant. The hostess was friendly and welcoming, which set a nice tone. Since we arrived about 30 minutes early, we decided to sit at the bar while waiting for our table. Unfortunately, the bartender wasn’t as friendly. He took my wife's drink order but never asked me, and I had to wave another bartender down just to get a drink. Neither of our drinks were particularly good. My wife ordered a dirty martini with Tito’s ($12), and they charged an additional $4 for olives, which seemed odd. I don’t drink, so I opted for a spicy margarita mocktail, and it was clear the bartender wasn’t familiar with making one—it definitely wasn’t great and my wifes Martini she didnt even finish. Once seated, our server was decent, and the food was excellent. The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and serves great food, but the service left something to be desired. If they could improve in that area, this place would be truly top-notch.
